They all support the homeless and other disadvantaged folks, and I wholeheartedly support that! I stop by once in a while to buy a thing or two not because I need it but to show my support. Over the years I have noticed a couple of things that distinguish this store from the others- 1. The people working here, I believe mostly volunteers, appear to be just a notch nicer and more helpful. Kudos to whoever is choosing and training them! 2. The prices here are mostly lower than the others, especially on clothing and glassware. Several of my friends say the same! 3. They work really hard to keep the sales floor clean and tidy! I hope my fellow Yelpers, especially those who live locally, take a little time to support these fine 5-star folks!

It was large and organized and the prices were very, very reasonable. They have clothes but they also have bric a brac -- including a separate room for glassware; They have tools and related items in a separate area called the man cave; a separate section marked kids; a room with books and records... and artwork and more kitchen stuff and china, et al around the perimeter. Add in the shoes and some furniture plus the jewelry by the checkout counter.... And it's a full merchandise store. Their monies go to helping seniors and for elderly care (and their caregivers) in the area. So it's a good cause. As I said, prices are such that I can't imagine you won't find at least a little something to purchase here.

The items were then given to the people who worked on them or were resold. Goodwill's philosophy is "a hand up, not a hand out". Today Goodwill has become a $5 billion nonprofit organization that provides job training, employment, and community programs for people who have disabilities that might prevent them from getting a job on their own. I was in the area so I decided to check out this Goodwill in Sebring. It was completely different than any other Goodwill I have been to. They still had the same racks of clothes I am used to but they also carried a wide range of brand new household decor items including art, rugs, and decorations. One large part of the store was roped off and it contained hundreds of brand new Halloween costumes in bags. It was a far cry from the one rack of used mismatched costume pieces I have seen Goodwill stores carry in the fall. This store also carries brand new mattresses. This Goodwill resembled more of a Big Lots than the Goodwills I am used to. The prices were on par with those of discount retailer Big Lots as well. They even sell snacks up front. I inquired about what they sell and was told it was new and thrift items. The new items had been donated to them. I don't know if this store is unique or the way Goodwill wants to move in the future. Everything was clean and displayed nicely. I really wanted to find out more about this store but unfortunately they were getting ready to close for the night. If I lived in Sebring I would be a regular customer at this store.

Things were easy to shop visually without having to dig through things. The building has one really large room with two corridors and there are smaller rooms on each end to explore. There were fans set up in many of the booths to help with airflow. Prices were great on some items and higher on other items but all in all I would say that this is a shoppable venue to visit. We had not been to this store before and it's not along a major thoroughfare so if you aren't actively searching for it, you would likely never know it's there. This place is truly a find! The owners/workers were nice and helpful. If you like well organized antique shops, this is a good place for you to visit.

With nothing to do, our group stopped here to check out the thrift shoppe that was under construction when we arrived. Although most of the produce was less loved we were able to enjoy the variety of plants on the outside of the shop and engage in some meaningful conversation with the owners son. Great conversation but not exactly what we were expecting in regards to selection from a produce and thrift shoppe.
