Now that I've got that disclaimer out of the way, these folks do a nice job. It's a big space and beautifully and brightly lit and wonderfully organized. Unfortunately, that is the exception and not the rule. Most times when I visit, I walk out with nothing. Hence the three stars.

They focus on helping adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and do a super job. As part of their fund-raising efforts, they run numerous ARC Resale locations where they resell donated goods and it's the Avon Park resale location that I'm reviewing today. My mother recently passed away and I had a need to donate a great deal of stuff she had accumulated over 94 years of life. I chose these folks Arriving- It's right on Main Street about a minute from US Route 27 and it's a snap to find. Parking is simple. Donating- Easy peasy! The customer service folks explained clearly what they could take and why they didn't except certain items. It was painless and quick. Shopping- Let's assume you've been to other places that sell donations. This place is clean and organized like the competitors. The staff is just fine. Pricing- Unfortunately I'm deducting One star as they seem to price higher than all the competitors. They make up for that a bit by having selected days with discounts like Seniors Day etc. However, the standard pricing, in my opinion, needs to be adjusted. Conclusion- Even with the pricing blip this is a fine organization doing good work and the store is worth a look, especially on discounted days!

This is a review of the Outlet Center. A couple of miles south on Route 27 is their main showroom. There you have all the glitz and glamour and incredible variety. I have been there many times. Here is much different. It's a giant box of a warehouse surrounded by a barbed wire fence. Here the glitz and glamour go down, the variety goes down and the prices go way way down! You will also see some used furniture here. One thing that stays the same is excellent customer service! Everyone is always a pleasure to work with. If you are new to these folks, I'd recommend you stop by both locations and then make an informed decision. In either case, I suspect you'll be pleased!

Location- With so many buildings it can be a little overwhelming. Let your GPS do its thing along with the picture I posted, and you'll have no trouble spotting it. Plenty of easy parking. It's a great way to learn about this wonderful state! Cost- Every time I have been here it has been free with donations requested. Hours- Extremely limited. Check first before you go. This is not a "Destination" location. It's the kind of place you visit when you are in the area and have a few minutes. Yelp will give you plenty of places for lunch within five minutes of here. What a great place to walk off that huge platter of Gator Bites & giant pitcher of beer!

They all support the homeless and other disadvantaged folks, and I wholeheartedly support that! I stop by once in a while to buy a thing or two not because I need it but to show my support. Over the years I have noticed a couple of things that distinguish this store from the others- 1. The people working here, I believe mostly volunteers, appear to be just a notch nicer and more helpful. Kudos to whoever is choosing and training them! 2. The prices here are mostly lower than the others, especially on clothing and glassware. Several of my friends say the same! 3. They work really hard to keep the sales floor clean and tidy! I hope my fellow Yelpers, especially those who live locally, take a little time to support these fine 5-star folks!

Customer Service- You order online and I usually do the ordering, and their site is organized, informative and quick. I've never had an order screwed up or damaged, so customer service is spot on. Product- Every variety you can think of and beautifully organized. See my picture. Much better variety than the big-box stores or garden centers. What you'll be ordering are nicely packaged bulbs. You'll be pleased at the prices. Special Note- If you really love these plants, every July, there is a Caladium Festival in beautiful Lake Placid, Florida. It's a big deal and a great time is had by all. https://www.caladiumfestival.org/ Conclusion- If you want to beautify your home with these gorgeous plants, this is your stop!

Not only did they have a large selection of product that you would expect at a "cards and collectible shop", but they also had a snack bar. My husband gravitated towards the MTG and Pokemon cards, while I was mesmerized by the dice and dice accessories. My husband also made a comment that he was surprised how wonderful the store smelled because spaces where "nerds" hang out, tend to get a bad reputation when it comes to smells. Good smells, good vibes and a good selection of products makes for a stand out hobby shop that we will be returning to before we leave (as well as if we ever come back to the area). I'm definitely grateful we stopped in to Dino's Cards and Collectibles today.

To ritzy and too glamorous for the Town of Lake Placid, I said. Nothing negative about the establishment - I just thought, well - it's Lake Placid. Nothing survives long in Lake Placid. I was wrong. Amber Louise Boutique survived and outlasted several different coffee and ice cream shops in the very same Plaza. Kate reminded me of this when visiting Lake Placid last night with her little sister Rebecca. Owing a house here since 2002 - and in town for an event - we visited this quaint little boutique once again. Kate even signed up for a rewards card. Women's clothes, jewelry, accessories and a bunch of stuff for anyone else but me, my 6 and 11 year old didn't have a problem spending money. After all, it's Christmas and the kids are purchasing gifts for themselves and their mother. It didn't hurt that wine was being served with Christmas cookies for a "downtown Friday" type holiday shopping event. Great job and cute little boutique, Amber Louise.
