I visited this Walmart specifically today for flowers and balloons. The flowers were pretty well stocked with different varieties. The store didn't have any graduation balloons not sure if they ran out or just didn't have none. When I went to check out the Gm side self checkout wasn't opened yet it was already 8:20am at this point why not have more registers opened for customers to get out quicker. Unless you live under a rock you know that Walmart wants to be all things to all people! Of course, that includes hard liquor. In most of Florida, if liquor is sold by a grocery store, it must be isolated by the infamous liquor wall and is essentially an adjoining but separate space with its own entrance. That is the case here. All three of the grocery stores I patronize sell hard liquor in this way and I find them very similar. Atmosphere- Clean with good signage and lighting. Variety- Normally decent but currently a little depleted due to pandemic-related supply chain issues. Pricing- So similar to the others that for value, whichever one is convenient gets my business. Customer Service- Just fine. This one has two registers but only one is normally open except for the holidays. If I know what I want, I can be in and out in under five minutes. To me, compared to the competition, the only thing that differentiates these folks is that parking is less convenient so they get a solid three stars. read more

Walmart Supercenter - Department Stores Near Me - Avon Park, Florida

This used to be an incredibly nice store when Mr. Williams was the manager. The store has been in decline for a while now; I'm not sure if Mr. Williams is still the manager or not. The store is sure not being ran like it used to be. For one thing, it is very common for much of the stock (cans & boxes) on the grocery side to be dented, smashed, etc. It looks like they've got trained gorillas working in the storage/stocking chain. I'm joking of course, they're not trained, they're just gorillas. Seriously, when you have to go through ten or more cans of an item to find one that's not dented, that's an issue. Are they dropping boxes of stock? Running into them with forklifts? What? I don't think I could damage that much stock if I intentionally tried. Second, dogs. People bring their dogs grocery shopping with them. There have been puddles of urine on the floor, and piles of feces on the floor. A day or two after the store reopened following hurricane Milton, two dogs got into a fight in the grocery area. Just wait until a customer is bitten by a dog, or slips and falls in urine/feces, that'll probably get Walmart's attention. Dogs ride in the shopping carts where people put their groceries. They walk/ride around the produce and deli areas where food is open to the air. Dogs will roll in feces in their yard. Dogs also practice coprophagia; in other words, they eat feces. They then lick themselves transferring the bacteria to their fur, which is then transferred into the shopping carts where you put your food. No thank you. I'm glad Aldi's will be opening soon in Avon Park. I love dogs as pets, but they are filthy animals by practice. Unless they are a legitimate service dog, they do not belong in food areas. Shame on Walmart for allowing this. Many of the employees are just flat out rude. In particular those who are doing shopping to fill online orders. I know it's a tough, thankless job. Most jobs in America are at this point. Still, have the courtesy to return a "good morning" instead of just glaring at the customer, who is only trying to be friendly and brighten YOUR day. I won't even get into them blocking the entire aisle so no one can get past them, and completely ignoring those around them like they don't even exist. There is no need to be a complete and total jerk to people, even if you hate your job. Spoilage. I won't get into too much detail here, but it is not at all uncommon for milk and prepackaged deli meat to spoil well before it's "best by" date. The milk spoilage is terrible, whether the Walmart brand or other brands such as Borden. We've had unopened packages of prepackaged deli meats which have spoiled and "inflated" with gas from decay. I've found no evidence of tampering with the expiration dates, but something is definitely wrong here. I could complain about the poorly maintained shopping carts, but that's really a minor annoyance compared to some of the things going on here. Again, I'm grateful that there will be another option for grocery shopping in the Avon Park area. This Walmart is really starting to look "third world" and that's a shame, it used to be a great store. read more

So I'm not the biggest fan of Walmart. But I really don't think that people are actually fans of this chain, however, I think that they're fans of the prices. This location however is better than most. The parking lot is huge and there's always plenty of spots within a short walk of the entrance. There are always carts at the front and it's easy to grab one and get your shopping done. The store itself is newer so everything is in good shape and you can tell it hasn't been around for very long. They have all the things that you would expect to see at this chain and especially for a superstore location. They did have multiple registers open, however, we usually prefer to do self checkout, which they also had available. Overall: A If you need a Walmart location, this is the one to go to. It's on the newer side and has everything you expect. read more

This isn't a new Walmart - the FTR was in 2011 - but it sure feels like a new Walmart. It was clean, it was well stocked, and it was bright. Wow, this is what Walmarts are supposed to be like. I'm generally happy with the service at this store. But yesterday after standing in line for a longer than usual wait time the cashier next to me didn't have her light on. She looked at me and continued straitening up a display. At that time a cart pulled up behind me with a Hispanic family and immediately the cashier (Maria) said I can help you over here. I had been waiting for almost 10 minutes and yet she took the other lady who had just got in line. One star is too much. This happened today. I stopped because of convenience and only needed a few grocery items. Having forgotten my glasses I skipped the self- check out and went to the "express lane" (20 items or less) The woman in front of me had a cart that was overflowing! After getting done checking out I went to the "customer service" desk to tell them about it. I was told (get this) " we are not allowed to ask customers to go to another check out lane". WHY then do you have a express lane???? She went to the express lane because with the store busy they only had 3 lanes open and everyone had a line of 3-5 people and you allowed her to disobey the rules. This only reinforces Walmart mentality! So people from a legal stand point this means any sign in Walmart is unenforceable since they have set a president as to the enforcement of their own rules. Therefor those signs that say "no items in restrooms" "Limit of 2 per customer" and of course "no shoplifting" can all be ignored. As far as Walmart's go, this location has everything! I just returned to Avon park after leaving the place for 5-6 years to move to Cali, and apparently this behemoth just got built recently..I wish I had this place around when I was growing up. Has a pharmacy, auto center, fresh produce, grocery area, outdoor and garden, everything. Big parking lot too. Good spot for a walmart in the middle of nowwhere. read more
