The only things to note: 1) They don't have access to gas, so the gas tank was less that full; 2) The outside of the car could have been washed beforehand; 3) Especially if your driving less than 75 miles, keep your receipt for filling up the tank to show when you drop off the car, otherwise there's an automatic charge for gas that is likely larger than what you paid for the gas. Definitely, I'd rent from this Budget again.

Bad experience with Enterprise in October 2025 detailed below…read more I live in Colorado. Prior to arriving in New York, I lost my physical credit card. My new card did not arrive in time for my trip. Understand that it's standard for most car rentals to not accept Apple Pay / cash. However, Enterprise made it very difficult to work around this. This location accepts debit cards, but NOT from out of state customers. They said I could call a friend and have them put their card down and I could still rent the car without them in the vehicle. Luckily I did have a friend nearby and he came. However when he tried to use his physical credit card with their payment system, it would not work. So not only can you not use ApplePay, even physical cards sometimes don't work? They then told us that he couldn't use his debit card if he wasn't going to be in the rental car with me. I had to call a second friend to try their physical credit card, which luckily worked. Was stuck in their building for ~2 hours. Service also stinks in their office, so I had to exit into the garage / go downstairs to even communicate with my friends to come. The car they provided also smelled like cigarette smoke - even after they cleaned the interior. They let me take it without cleaning the outside since I was in a time crunch but would have expected the interior to not smell. The front desk lady I spoke with was nice but horrible experience overall - namely caused by their debit card policy and wonky technology. Won't be back to this location.

I was reaaaaally nervous to rent from here, after seeing how poor the reviews are. I went with…read moreDollar Car because it is honestly the cheapest option in Manhattan, and considering that I am also under 25, I knew I'd already be paying a lot. I surprisingly had an incredible experience. The staff was SUPER friendly. The car was in perfect condition (still had that "new car smell" and 3/4 tank of gas). And the pickup / return experience went smoothly. We even got there a little early and had the car on the road 30 minutes before the scheduled pickup. I will say that their website is NOT reflective of the final price. I did call ahead of time to find out what the additional fees would be for being an underage driver, taxes, etc. so I knew what I was expecting going into it. I would recommend doing this to avoid unexpected charges.

The employee was not apologetic and we had the impression he was slowing down the process. We moved to the hertz office upstairs ... 20 minutes later still no car, no apologies and he was filling a form manually for 10 mins. Never had such a bad experience. I had an insurance and an umbrella I rent cars all the time and he gave me a lesson on insurance, I let him talk but considering then he took 45 mins to figure out the computer / car situation, he should have spared us the lecture retrospectively. His colleagues had no issue with computer and were nice. There was barely anyone in the store. The attitude, lack of apology was unusual. He threw the keys at us literally did not show us the car told us that was the one left. Terrible experience. Really not happy about it. No the service we are used to. If he is so bored he should be doing something not involving customer.

The employees are super smug, and there isn't a way to reach the office by phone. I was late to my job and almost fired as a result of not being able to find a rental car anywhere else. The incompetence of this company was astounding. There were 30 other people who had been waiting for hours for their cars and kept being told that at best, they might get them later that afternoon. After speaking to representatives at Avis, all they did was offer me discounts. They had no accountability at all and didn't even remotely care about how the customers were being impacted. Budget Rent-A-Car in Manhattan is an excellent way to travel NY beyond the city center. I decided…read moreto see NY beyond its city landscapes of buildings and parking nightmares, so I decided to look outward and beyond. Reservations online was easy but the limits are exclusive that's, you cannot use or input your own insurance to waive theirs, nor change your reservations once it's locked in. The staff seems to lack the training to accommodate customer requests for small changes and seemed unable to modify anything from their end. Prices are reasonable, of course if you consider the NY landscapes and the location is just perfect however. Calling their customer service number is a nightmare cause no one picks it up, good luck on that. So, since I wanted extend for the second day, I have to go back to the station to ask for the extension. Guess what, the agent went for his break and I have to wait for an hour for him to come back? Really unprofessional! Having this opportunity allowed us to leave NY and head to Albany for the first day and Long Island for the second. Returning was easy, drive in and the security person will take the car and check you out, done. However, the security guard asked for a TIP for his work. I'm not a cheap guy but with a very disturbing and unprofessional experience, I felt this rental agency did not deserve a too from me. I hope Budget Rent A Car retrain their staff and put a code of conduct around their mission of serving customers instead of lunching us with a buck or two!

Upon arrival, Yvonne assisted us and was very unprofessional with everything. She asked very odd questions and almost acted as if she's never seen a foreign (French) passport before. She asked on the spelling of my friend's name and literally struggled and was straight up rude the entire time. The worst part is that she said there was a glitch in the system and that there were no cars available even though there was clearly a reservation booked. In the end, she was able to provide a car somehow, but that was after she told a family with a crying baby to leave the office since we had apparently taken the last available car. Absolutely horrific experience. On top of that, the staff at that location were among the rudest and anti women, men I've ever encountered. Ultimately, we lost our vacation and travel plans due to your company's complete lack of organization and professionalism.
