She has a terrific eye for fashion displaying clothing selection and coordinated pieces that are on trend, fun, feminine and colorful- summer dresses, camo jeans, cute sweaters and tops. She also has fun jewelry and purses to match the clothing themes. I bought a unique tie die shirt and very cool camouflage slides made of yoga mat material. She gets new things in every day. What wasn't expected was that the grooms shirt was ripped down the sleeve. The alterations to the best man's jacket were atrocious and half finished on the sleeves. Groomsman 1 needed a large vest and got an XL. Groomsman 2 needed an XL vest and got a large. Luckily, they were able to switch. Groomsman 1 had 6 inches of extra space in the gut area of his Jacket and Groomsman 2 had a jacket that was 1 inch too tight and could only button it if he took off his traded vest. For a $250 rental you would think they would do better work.

So I went back today, and was pleasantly pleased that they had quite a selection of Hammitts, including the "Davis" bag that I had I seen on Hammitt's website recently that I was curious about. (It's really helpful to see handbags and purses in person so you can get a sense of the size and the feel but not many retailers sell Hammitts in this area.) We learned that there are two kinds of stock: CONSIGNMENT items have a larger yellow tag. DONATED items have a small bright orange/red tag. They tend to keep the consigned items more towards the front of the store, also. So if you see an item and you think, wow, that's kinda high...check the tag. Chances are it's a consigned item. We browsed about and found some lovely things - FDC bought a gorgeous Italian Pottery vase and I got some very cool drinking glasses that just happen to match some shot glasses that I gave Lion a couple years ago. Score! On subsequent trips I have found an awesome set of mid-century bamboo plates for picnics (LOVE THESE!) and other fun stuff too. The staff are completely lovely people, the store is clean, well lit and well organized. Proceeds benefit survivors of domestic violence - they have a shelter for victims and also fund programs. Parking is super easy (pro tip - avoid the crowds, small parking lot behind the Barnes & Noble easy in/easy out!). Heck, yeah, I'll be back. It's a great little store supporting a very needed service in our area.

I have an unfortunate experience to share about Best Jewelers in the Manoa Shopping Center. I don't…read morerecommend you do business there based on my experience. In early January, I took a gold watch bracelet to them to have two links made to lengthen the bracelet. While in their possession, I inquired almost weekly for an update on an estimate for cost and time needed to perform the work but never received it. After about two months of waiting, I decided I'd take it back and have someone else work on it. When I went to pick it up, Sonya the store manager, handed it back to me in pieces. I started putting it back together when I noticed there were pieces missing. Had I not checked, Sonya would have let me leave the store with it in that condition. After pointing out the missing pieces, she said she would look for the missing parts and have it ready the next week. So I came back the next week and the bracelet wasn't there. I wasted my time going to the store when they could have called me to let me know it wasn't there. I was told to come back again the following week. I came back the next week and when I inspected the bracelet again, I found that it was again missing parts, but now it had been damaged. It looked like one or possibly more of the links had been hit with a hammer. How they managed to damage it so badly I have no idea. The parts damaged shouldn't have even been handled at all. I'm now waiting for Sonya to again resolve this but at this point, this watch bracelet is likely a loss and will need to be claimed as such by their business insurance. The cost is almost irrelevant though as this bracelet is irreplaceable. Don't take your valuables to Best Jewelers because they may end up like mine - ruined.
