The original doors and historic exterior immediately caught my eye. As someone who loves historic architecture and that era, this building alone was worth stopping to admire. Going inside, I expected a mix of convenience store items, souvenirs, and food--something along the lines of an old-fashioned general store with modern essentials. Instead, it's more of a thoughtfully curated specialty grocery store with a small coffee shop inside, and that ended up being a pleasant surprise. We visited later in the afternoon, so unfortunately all of the baked goods had already sold out. Even so, we found several unique specialty products we'd never seen before, including some vegan items that we've had a hard time finding anywhere else. That was a real highlight of our visit. The prices were also very reasonable, especially for specialty foods. The teenager working at the register was friendly, welcoming, and helpful, which made the experience even better. We had planned to come back the next morning for coffee and baked goods, but unfortunately our schedule didn't line up with their opening time. That's just another reason we'll have to visit again! If I lived locally, I would absolutely become a regular here. Whether you're looking for specialty groceries, unique finds, or just want to experience a charming historic building, the Coxsackie General Store is well worth a stop. There seems to be no end of artisanal pastas happening these days. My local grocery alone has a ton…read morefrom Italy alone which is hard to keep up with. They also have their own and the common, a Arolla, DeCecco, etc. I had heard a podcast about a guy trying to both create a new pasta shape and then bring it to fruition. It is an interesting study in bucking a tradition and a business school real time. But add the end of the day does it taste good and does it do what it sets out to do? For me a resounding yes. The shapes are cool, they hold sauce well, and then it's and pickup are solid. Also if you find it on sale it sits well in the middle ground for price performance value. Here's to crazy new shapes in the midst of tradition and selection
