Caitlin and Employee wouldn't sell cigarettes to a customer at 9:55 PM while the store was still open. She literally said she chose not to. He recorded it and then the manager came because Caitlin was yelling. I don't consent to the recording. She doesn't consent because the store wasn't closed yet and she wouldn't sell a product that takes literally one minute to sell she spent more time arguing about not selling it to this guy when they were open. The store manager wasn't much better. Completely unimpressed with the employees here. I don't think I'll be returning to this Giant Eagle and I wasn't even involved in the interaction. I just witnessed crazy employees. Do better have better Customer Service. If someone walks in five minutes before closing, you're still open. And it only takes a minute or two to sell a pack of cigarettes. I'm not a smoker myself. I was buying food and still checking out. I Handed her a coupon giving by my doctor and rudely tells me giant eagle doesn't take this coupon anymore. Never told what I picking up. Asked for another tech because she didn't seem she wanted to help. The other lady came over with an attitude and I told her the other tech didn't want to work. She yelled at me! Finally got my medication and they were laughing and mocking me. The pharmacist was laughing and waving bye. Not very professional at all.

But unlike other stores in the hours before closing, this Giant Eagle had a lack of the post apocalyptic desolation vibe that would usually happen at 9pm. Instead, it had an occupied warmth. Employees still walked the aisles and manned their posts with life in their eyes. Nobody likes their public facing job an hour before their shift is over, but these employees hid it really well. Maybe I'm used to seeing people that look like they've given up. Maybe I'm projecting; in truth, does a go getter attitude intimidate me because I'm ashamed of my own poor work ethic? Does a lifeless, hateful type of employee satiate my own ego? These are questions I might muse about as I pluck some semolina flour from the shelf. They have semolina flour! They have a huge cheese selection! They have so many stocked, neat shelves. The store is wonderfully clean and a litmus for what Giant Eagles should feel like.

We walked by and took a look at their rather wide selection and found some real gems. We found quite a few really nice bottles that were selling for about 50% off the expected price. On top of that we got an additional 10% off for buying 6 or more bottles. We are in town for just 3 nights but will definitely head back for more wine before we continue our trip.
