I saw the corporate justification in another review, (the difference between Fresh Acres and Big Y being smaller and smaller), and it rings hollow. They didn't really have to plaster their brand all over the store, but that's their prerogative. I do feel like there has been a change in customer service since the transition, as though the employees now feel like they too are part of a faceless corporation and not some well-supplied local neighborhood grocery story. Case-in-point, The Umbrella Factory in Naples, ME (https://yelp.to/DO9Xzfl7rtb). They are locally owned but supplied by Hannaford, so they still have the small town feel while also being supported by a big grocery chain. Needlessly, Big Y found a way to suck the life out a cozy little spot. All of this aside, I love the smallish, local feel of Fresh Acres; it's nice not having to deal with the big supermarkets all the time!

The problem I have with this location in particular is that it's very hit or miss. There's like no in-between. I've gone in and things have been fully stocked, and great customer service by workers, but then other times I've gone in and they're selling rotting fruit/veg, lots of empty shelves and I've left having not gotten anything. What really prompted me to review this place though was the fact that we just got over a bad snowstorm, a lot of people were looking to replenish their food items and there was so much snow and ice on the parking lot. I saw older one's holding on to dear life by the side of their cars to try not to fall on the pavement. That to me is completely unacceptable. Everyone here knew days in advance a storm was coming, why didn't they prepare the inside/out of the store? and if you're going to open to the general public after a storm, you're not gonna plow the parking lot? Yet other stores nearby didn't have this issue, their streets were plowed and salted. Really concerning that they're not taking safety into consideration.

I recognized none of the products and wasn't impressed by anything. I left with a pack of coconut macaroons. That's it. The macaroons weren't bad, but they weren't worth the attempt. I was so disappointed. I was excited to go.

They have a great selection of fresh produce, including vegetables and unique fruits native to Asia that are really cool to see and try. The staff are amazing--very nice, respectful, and always willing to help you find what you're looking for, or point you to where you can get it. They also have a wide variety of fresh fish, meats, and other essentials. The quality of the food is excellent, the store is always clean, and the produce is consistently fresh. Overall, it's a great supermarket and I highly recommend it.

Beautiful produce, both Asian and Western. Mushrooms? Yes please. Fresh Thai basil and other mints and herbs? They have them. Now, we have the veggies, what about noodles, and rice? Yes! They have the good stuff here. Frozen foods? More winners. Pot stickers and other sorts of dumplings, frozen fish and meats. The store itself is clean, and the shelves are stocked. If you make Asian/Asian inspired food, this is the place to go. The store employees are helpful and courteous. If you're curious about what something might be, or how to use it, they'll be happy to explain. Lots and lots of parking at the Boston Road store. AND, you can get there on the bus if you don't drive! Thank you, 5 Star, I'd give you 10 stars if I could.

If you're making Caribbean pasteles, they have all the ingredients you need here, including the paper used to wrap them in. I don't know why it's so hard to find frozen croquettes in this area, this is probably the only store that has them. True, they only carry Catalina brand, but it's something. There's a great variety of Tropical brand cheeses including queso fresco. Lot's of Caribbean root vegetables including malanga, yautia, and yuca. This Price Rite is located in front of Hollywood Video, in the same plaza as Raymour & Flanigan. This discount supermarket is owned by the same company that owns Shop Rite and carries name brand products as well as their own Price Rite store brand, similar concept to Aldi and Save-A-Lot. On the way back to NY, I did some grocery shopping here recently. The place was mobbed, especially over the holiday. The produce section is the first section you walk through upon entering the store. This store actually had a decent selection of produce. I've been to other Price Rites where the produce looked picked over. The prices were fairly reasonable for bananas ($0.54/lb, seen it cheaper), lemons, avocados, lettuce, and apples. Orange juice and milk were both $1.99/gallon. Price Rite spaghetti sauce was $0.99/jar, imported Italian pasta was $0.99/lb, dozen large eggs $0.99, and Knorr noodles & sauce $0.94 each (I got this for less at the Schenectady NY store). The Pillsbury cake mix was $0.99 a box. A 10 lb bag of long grain rice is $4.99. Banquet frozen dinners are $0.99 and saw only Pepsi and Price Rite soft drinks in the store. Aisle 6 has a pretty good selection of Goya food and drink products. There were long lines at the checkout which is a sign that many people shop where the bargains are. Major CREDIT CARDS accepted. NOTES: Bring your own bags to save money. Plastic bags are available at $0.10 each and quantities are limited to 4 per each product. Self bagging area in front of the store.
