This smallish grocery store (by our spoiled SoCal standards) reminded me of grocery stores when I was a little kid: no big fancy displays, no gimmicks, no 10¢ a grocery bag... just a clean well-stocked grocery with nice folks running the joint. There is a low glass case at the meat department and--get this-- butchers working back there! Fresh produce and cold drinks, soft bread, and enough sugary junk for the kids... a couple of bags of ice and we were back on our way: mom making sandwiches on the truck center console, and kids rattling chips bags in the back seat.
