This store is always a disaster and messy as heck HOWEVER it's great to be able to run in and grab a little something you need and not go into a full fledged grocery store. A second positive, Carrson (I believe that's how he spells it) is a fantastic employee. In a world filled with useless, disinterested, grouchy cashiers, he's a ray of sunshine. The cashier on register…read more#--, was repeatedly & violently coughing & looked as though she was struggling to catch her breath during her bouts of harsh coughing. There has been a sickness going around within the last 2 months of a coughing illness... my whole family got it one by one so I believe it IS contagious. I got home & called the Store MANAGER & I informed him... he said he cant send her home before her shift is over because then he 'would have to pay her'! WOW- ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? Probability is High that this cashier is INFECTING many customers & he wont send her home. People have jobs to go to & families to care for and do not need sick cashiers and baggers to contaminate them with sickness. A few days ago, I was in there again buying a few groceries and a bagger employee was coughing more than usual while he hovered his head OVER my paper grocery bag... looking down into it as he put the 'food items' into the bag. I said something to a store employee & then I left. I plan to NOT SHOP AT KROGER anymore... they have continued to keep sick employees at work.

Staff feel like family to me at this point because I shop there so often and they are wonderful to myself and my kids. I also shop here because it's not as crazy busy as any Lansing locations. For anyone that gets a little overwhelmed with a busy store this is the perfect spot because the first hour of the two of the day they don't play any music so it's great for low stimulation.

Uncle John’s Cider Mill

Short drive away. With many signs leading up to the turn into the area. Follow the driveway towards…read morethe grass area for the pumpkin patch or towards the barn for pastries vs cider vs wine. Less parking towards the front. It's a decently large space situated on a hill. Regular restrooms and port a potties. The cider mill was unfortunately closed when I went mid week during the days it's very family friendly. On weekends it's supposed to be busier and the back bar by the field is open. Go early and find a spot. The cider is pretty good as well, does not taste super artificial fake apple tasting which is a plus. The donuts are obvi good but they are like cinnamon sugar (powdered sugar).

Floors sticky enough to rip your shoes off, smell like someone's been fermenting cider in there since the '90s. I'm not saying I'm a bathroom snob, but for a place that charges artisan-pastry prices, maybe throw some bleach around once in a while. Overall--yeah, I'll probably still go back. I'm a sucker for cider mills. But Uncle John, buddy, if you're gonna rob me blind for fritters, at least make sure I'm not scared to wash my hands afterward.
