If you are new to Indian food a great place to start is Butter Chicken and Tikka Masala. As you start to understand the flavor profiles you interests will grow. If you have questions you can use AI to look up what the dishes might look like and flavor profiles. Another great option is to find a friend who enjoys Indian food and they help with flavor profiles. The ready made food they keep a series of finger food, naan ( flat bread) and specialty items. Then they have a separate cabinet for cakes and sweets. I would stress to be conscious of your spice levels. My preference is hot and I enjoy the heat. When trying new Indian dishes I get mild because they blend the spices and it can seem spicer. Yogurt and naan bread can help with this. Right now, we are working our way through this massive menu trying to find that dish that calls out to us. It's a darn tasty process. Chicken Dum Biryani (Medium, $16.99) - The rice was perfectly fragrant and cooked, layered with tender chicken and spicy sauce. Chicken Tikka Masala (Medium, $14.99) - Served with rice and Tandoor Roti, the sauce was creamy, balanced, and very aromatic, complementing the grilled chicken. Chettinad Chicken Curry (Medium, $14.99) - This dish packed a punch with authentic South Indian spices, paired with rice and warm Tandoor Roti. Bold, aromatic, and very satisfying. Pickup experience: this business is very busy, and expect crowds. This is a social event as much as a meal. The pickup was smooth and convenient. The order was ready on time, and all items were packaged appropriately. Desi Chowrastha offers a reliable, authentic Indian experience in Northlake. Food: 5 out of 5. Staff: 5 out of 5. Pickup line- 4 out of 5- only for being so busy. This is on our the standard list for to go meals.

Visited Desi Chowrastha in Argyle with some friends. It's a unique spot--a grocery store and…read morerestaurant combo--but it was definitely crowded when we arrived. My friends ordered the onion samosas, chicken 65, punugulu, and onion pakora, and while their food came out surprisingly fast, the tea service was a different story. I ordered the Irani Chai, which was decent and tasted very similar to what you'd find in the Dallas area. However, the service for the tea was super slow. We, along with several other customers, had to wait in line for over 10 minutes before the staff even noticed us. It's a nice spot for a quick snack, but they definitely need to improve the flow at the tea counter!

My doctor warned me. She said this CVS has constant problems filling prescriptions because their…read moresystem doesn't see the dosing information correctly. I shouldn't taken the hint! Yes, CVS had that exact problem, but that was only the beginning. To start, after waiting in line to pick up my Rx, I learned my insurance had not been applied. Now I had to go wait in another line. After waiting further for the young pharmacist (her picture was on the wall, so I'm assuming) to apply my insurance to both meds, she finally turned to me and said flatly, "Your Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance isn't contracted with us." I'm like, you're kidding?! It's a group HMO plan, not some ACA plan. And she confirmed, "No." Incredulous, I just turned to leave, thinking I would have to go somewhere else, make sure they take my insurance, transfer my prescriptions... then wait, even longer! Well, I was miserable (that's why I was here in the first place) and shouldn't have turned to leave. Because when I walked back to the back pharmacy counter and told her, "Why don't you just put them back on the GoodRX coupon and let me pay for them?" She had already returned my prescriptions. It would now take yet another 20-25 minutes before I could get out of this hell with my meds. Now look, it would have been great if I had been feeling at least 50% and had the presence of mind to suggest that in the first place. But she knew she had options and should have made the suggestion up front. Also, her insinuation that it was BCBS Texas's fault that CVS refused to contract for my HMO plan was disingenuous at best and deceptive at worst. I saw the pharmacy staff hustling back there; they are working hard. But that's no excuse for poor, deceptive service. And CVS choosing to not take a main line group plan from BCBS Texas, well that's just about CVS dipping further into our wallets. I'll never be back to this store!
