This Sunday, I stopped inside Dollar General to pick up a few items for an upcoming, out-of-state trip for work. This time around, I wanted to minimize the number of items that I end up buying once I get to my destination. It's such a waste since often these items end up being overpriced and costing me. Dollar stores like this one are well stocked with inexpensive, travel-sized items. You'll find these items in the area closer to the front of the store, to the near the registers. This location also has a good inventory of snacks and pantry items. You'll see this as soon as you enter the store. Cold cases line the wall to the right and there are about three long aisles of food stuff (it's 6 aisles really, 3 closer to the front and 3 towards the back). The generic house brand at Dollar General is Clover Valley; it's pretty decent! I also like seasonal items and some of the craft supplies sold here. All pros - Good inventory; well organized and clean store; easy to get to from Route 21; bathroom inside; lots of parking. I'll most likely be back. read more

No body is answering the phone. It says it's open. I ordered product that showed it was in stock and then DG cancelled it because it's not in stock. Make up your mind. read more

My all time favorite Dollar General! I compare every DG I go to to this one. They are always fully stocked, clean and organized. It's in a parking lot so there is a lot of parking space. Sometimes the wait time to check out is pretty long if it's crowded. Highly suggest this DG. read more

I was visiting friends and family in the area and needed to pick up a few items. Instead of going to CVS and/or Walgreens and paying Top Dollar for the same exact products I elected to go to Dollar General instead. I have been visiting this area off and on my entire life. I remember when this Dollar General used to be a bowling alley. My friend used to work here and I would come and visit, we would walk the catwalk behind the pins and watch the pins go flying when they were hit with a bowling ball and now it is a Dollar store, pretty strange. What is even stranger is that the lay out of the old bowling alley and the new Dollar General are almost exactly the same. This Dollar General is the same as any 99 cent store or Dollar tree. If you have been to one you have been to them all. This location sits on the border between North Arlington, Kearny and Belleville. If you are looking for this location it is located right next to the Belleville Bridge and the Arlington Diner. This location is clean, the staff is nice and helpful BUT I would never dare eat anything that comes out of this store, talk about GMO's. I come here when I am in town for my basic toiletry necessities and that is it. Parking is not an issue here; you can park in front or behind this location. I wouldn't park behind this location. This parking suffered severe damage during Super storm Sandy and who knows what is in those puddles of mud from that overflowed from the Passaic River. read more

I love dollar general.... HOWEVER, I WILL drive 20 minutes out of my way (even though I live up the block from this location) just to shop. THIS dollar general is by far the worst one I have ever been to. If you're planning on quickly running in for a few things - shop elsewhere. If you have a question as to where something is - shop elsewhere because you won't get any help. I think it's great that this dollar general hires older / retired people, but even the younger ones are lazy and have an attitude when you ask them for something. The manager is literally the rudest person on earth, it's as if just your presence there is annoying to him. There is ALWAYS A LINE - ALWAYS. And there is NEVER more than one register open. I understand that older people may be slower, but the lack of customer service on top of the fact that the younger people that work there are near the register just gossiping while there's 7+ people in line - there's no excuse. I'd rather drive to the Dollar General 25 minutes away or go to the Dollar Tree one town over than shop here again. Also, I started writing this review while standing in line - and there's still 3 people ahead of me.. all while the manager is a few steps away and there's 2 other employees talking about snapchat nearby. Worst possible service ever. Every other good review here with photos and "low low prices!" Is literally people who either work there or were asked to review for a coupon. Don't even bother, making a "quick stop" to this store will most likely take you an hour. read more

Always long lines.....they love to keep just one register open,. Then you have to hear commentary on the items you are buying as the cashier checks you out. Hey if I bought a candy bar and chips......guess what John,,,,I don't need you to tell me it's not healthy..!!! . Perhaps if I had not waited forever in line,,,I wouldn't be in such a rush and I would have time to explain its for my terminally ill father and I don't think he cares about it being healthy at this point. Moron. Lesson here folks.....if you are a cashier....and a cashier at a dollar store at that....keep your mouth closed and just ring the items up. read more
