La Favorita is a hole-in-the wall taqueria located in the back of a grocery store - head through…read morethe door on the right and then go straight back. You order at the taqueria and then they give you a receipt to pay at the front counter of the market. I went in for takeout during a weekday lunch and saw a steady line of people coming in while I was waiting for my food. I ordered: Asada Fries, Small ($8.99) - Fries are a nice base, can't judge them too much since they were steaming in the container for a bit before I ate them. There was a good amount of melted cheese throughout the fries, then they were topped with tomato, cilantro, onion, carne asada, avocado, and sour cream. The asada is quite a bit fattier than other places and is chopped pretty finely. All the ingredients came together well into a good dish. I just wish the meat quality was a bit higher. Al Pastor Burrito ($9.99) - This burrito was filled with fluffy Mexican rice, a small amount of lettuce and tomato, some sour cream, cheese, and corn. I wanted carnitas (as I always get for a first burrito), but they said they only had it on weekends. Instead, I went with al pastor, which was well cooked on the flat top, with a smoky, perfect char and a savory and slight fruity taste from the marinade. They put a decent amount of meat in the burrito; it weighed around 21oz in total. It was a good burrito that was well constructed and could be eaten in hand without falling apart. Not an outstanding burrito, but one that I wouldn't mind eating again. La Favorita also gives a free bag of chips for takeout and 3 types of salsa: red (hottest), tomatillo, and avocado based (mildest). One nitpick: neither the menu hanging on the wall nor the menu pamphlet have accurate pricing. Seems like they never bothered to update anything after they raised the prices.

Extremely poor customer service on multiple fronts today…read more 1. Meat Counter: Waited patiently to be served, but the staff member skipped me twice to take orders from customers who arrived after me. Only acknowledged when I spoke up. 2. Cashier: Rude and dismissive. When I requested a double-bagged watermelon, she tossed the second bag at me. When I politely asked if she could open it (as my hands were full), her response was "you've got two hands." Unacceptable. 3. Management: Requested a manager due to the cashier's behavior. The cashier initially just pointed vaguely "back there" and refused to assist further. Only when I held my ground and the line backed up did she claim to check, returning to say no manager or supervisor was available. This indicates a systemic lack of accountability. Overall: Rude staff, ignored customers, and zero management presence or willingness to address serious issues.

The meat counter used to have the freshest meat with the best cuts. The same butcher is there, he's awesome but I think the new owners are skimping on quality. The hours of operation are a lot better but I wish the owners did some research and had better options in stock and went back to the same meat chicken distributor as the previous owners. Used to be a place where you find all ethnicities shopping here but now it's just locals for the convenience. Would be great if new owners stepped it up a bit. It's a hassle driving 15 minutes but sometimes it's essential bc I don't want to run the risk of stopping here and walking out without bread, eggs, meat and Arabic grocery staples.

I can't believe the place is still here after all of these years. There are 2 types of subs here: Italian, and "Other Subs", so you know that this shop sprang from the vibrant Italian community that once populated Detroit. The Italian Subs at Gonella's are ordered according to how many layers it builds up (which I think is a unique concept). These layered Gonella Italian Subs are layered with a variety of Italian meats (Hard Salami, Salami Cotto, Mortadella, Smoked Ham and Capicola), provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions & Gonella's homemade dressing. Soft or hard roll. Extras: Peppers (+.50) Cheese (+.50) - (Turkey is reserved for the "Other Subs). 6 Layers Meat, 1 Layer Cheese --- $8 8 Layers Meat, 2 Layer Cheese --- $9 12 Layers Meat, 2 Layer Cheese --- $12 14 Layers Meat, 3 Layer Cheese --- $13 18 Layers Meat, 3 Layer Cheese --- $14 The subs are heavy and delicious. Soft sub buns, tons of stacks of meat, lettuce and tomato or not. No one goes hungry after a sub here. Some deli spots tend to skimp on the protein, but not this place. My team members favorite is the Italian, 6 stacks. I usually will go for a turkey or chicken stack. They offer up to 18 stacks, haven't tried that yet.

Today it was bad steak that was a grayish brown it was not one package but two. I spent cash and was given a lousy gift card, which you could not buy tobacco or beer with the gift card. The lame ass bald headed Manager Micheal was a complete joke about this issue,NO APOLOGY from anyone. This time I am going to the State of Michigan health department. And trust me something is going to be done about this. I have already been in touch with the corporate office in Ohio. Well people who shop this store, I feel sorry for you. No gluten free bread or anything else. If I have my say about this, this store is going to be closed. As a Certified Executive Chef I will no longer tolerate this from Kroger or anyone else. Trust me I am going to get action on this matter. In the meantime do yourself a big favor and BOYCOTT this company and all the ignorance that goes with it. I hope everyone sees the discoloration on the steak. I Wonder if Kroger is repacking outdated meat. Well Lincoln Park, Michigan you will be seeing a lot of things are going to change if I have any say about this. In the meantime time shop at Walmart or Meijer at least I am aware that they go the Extra mile for customers UNLIKE Kroger. UPDATES will be coming soon.
