Everything was on the shelf that I needed! The prices are fair, and it's very convenient for me because it's close to my house!

I have recently come to really appreciate little Florida hometown IGA grocery stores. Most are…read morecharming, carry local produce, and some otherwise hard-to-find items like cane syrup and frozen dumplings (for making chicken n' dumplings when you are too lazy to make the actual dumplings). Scaff's is no different: a friendly, decent-sized but still a bit crowded IGA grocer serving Branford and the surrounding area. Without this store, people would have to drive to Live Oak for many basic things, so Scaff's, thank you for being here. Produce is good quality overall and what they can get locally in season seems to be local. They have the big bottles of Winter's pure cane syrup for around $8.50 while Ward's in Gainesville sells the smaller bottles for $9 so this IS the place to buy your cane syrup. They also have Gilley's Cane Field Syrup which is a mix of cane and corn syrup. Now, why would you want that instead of the pure syrup? Because it's cheaper and better for some baked goods. I do a lot of baking hence my deep concern about varieties of cane syrup. They have a good selection also of Nettle's sausage, another criteria for a good old Florida grocer. If you're in the area for the springs or any such, stop by.

Little did they know I was listening to EVERYTHING being said. Let me be clear, we may be new to Old Town but my family has lived here over 20 years. To your manager on duty, YES people park up ON the curb daily to refill waters. This was confirmed by my own family that witness this ALWAYS happening and happened way before "Old Town Market" replaced the old grocery. If you want to implement change, perhaps speak to others with kindness and post some signage informing residents of your new policy. Regardless of ANYTHING, proper tone and manners go a very long way. Being ugly, RUDE, and trash talking your customers is unacceptable. Do better or get new management. In a town this small, I'll make sure everyone knows that their employees enjoy crap talking their customers. You never know who is listening. And to the cashier that was "so scared" seeing my truck parked there, you weren't scared when talking shit about it because again, I HEARD EVERYTHING! The world has enough ugliness in it, I expect a "family market" to have better standards for whom they employ. Beyond that, please stop selling ROTTEN produce. Your "manager special" of strawberries 2/$6 are molded and rotting. This food isn't even worthy of being donated!

This is an unacceptable practice. All in the name of saving a dollar, they are willing to put your health at risk. I took the meat back the same night and confronted them about it. I told them I want to .exchange it for fresh meat so I went back and started sticking my finger through the package to see if any of the others were fresh. I went through eight packages. They were all old brown meat wrapped in fresh meat. I went back and confronted the manager about his meat, packaging practices and let him know that this was unacceptable. So be wary when buying meat from this market.
