H & R also serves sandwiches throughout the day. They have a deli service and sell Troyer brand meats and cheeses which are rich and tasty. The store is closed on Sundays and Thursdays. Please drive with extreme caution since the Amish still use horses as their primary means of transportation in this area.

The one thing you have to pay attention to is expiration dates. Depending on how you feel about that and how quickly you plan to use items it's a great deal. There are certainly items that are not expired yet as well, it's just that they were either seasonal items or maybe they do have packaging issues. They carry everything from food to personal care. So then we noticed them losing little air which can be normal in cold weather. Last week we noticed both tires losing more than 20 psi in 2 days so we brought it in to the Mattoon Walmart on May 1st 2026 and they looked at them put new valve stems in and aired them upto 50 psi and said they couldn't find anything wrong. I woke up Saturday morning and one of my tires was at 25 psi. It had lost that much air over night. So I called and brought it back on sunday the 3rd and they argued with me saying theres nothing wrong. Obviously there is or they wouldnt be losing that much air over night. I asked if the tires could be bad he said that I would have to contact the tire company lmao stupid you are the tire company I purchased them thru Walmart. At this point I think they need to refund me everything so I can go somewhere else where the technicians are trained and know what they are doing.

It was a waste and a let down to even hit the other stores because all we could think of was everything we coveted at Persimmon Lane that we preferred to spend our money on so we came back a second time at the end of the day and spent more than we budgeted for and have no regrets. If our car was larger, we would have bought even more. Now we have a reason to come down to Charleston again. We haven't found an antique shop this great in three years, and the owners are the nicest, most helpful people you will find anywhere in retail. If you love industrial antiques, you will not leave Persimmon Lane without something cool. We bought a complete transit with box, instructions, and even receipt from 1948. The original owner paid $100.00, and we paid $130.00 - 64 years later. We thought it was a reproduction, it was in such perfect shape. We bought two, identical load cells from a large scale for $40.00 each, and lastly, we bought a Tandy, computerized chess game for $15.00. We didn't have room in the car for a giant, handmade, wood pulley for $95.00 that would have made an amazing coffee table. There were railroad spikes 4 for $10.00. If I had a better imagination, I would have bought them too. Persimmon Lane has an etsy page (very limited selection from their shop) and a facebook page (lots of updated photos of new stock) so I think I'll be shopping online from them. My friend in Charleston will be getting a gift certificate from Persimmon Lane for Christmas, as he told me he shops there once a week. How I envy his access!

First the right side recliner stopped working properly. We called, they came and ordered new parts. 2 weeks later the wrong part arrived, then after another 2 weeks the right part came and they fixed it. Then things went down hill a couple days after that when the left side recliner started experiencing the same problems. Once again they came and this time they said it was our fault and refused to cover repairs. Despite it being the exact same issue that was previously covered by their in house warranty. Also... the usb charger completely fell apart, we were politely told that was also not their problem. Frankly cheap quality sold expensive, and not backed up by them. Needless to say we will not be returning customers. At the very most, don't shop here for the nice stuff.
