When you cook them it's amazing how lean they seem to be. There isn't any extra fat in the pan that usually comes from other sausages you cook from grocery stores. The taste even shows the quality of meat. I read in other reviews that people were treated poorly while here. That wasn't the case for me. The person who helped me was extremely pleasant and didn't get upset that I kept adding more and more items to what I wanted to buy. Something new I found out today is that they also make salami and even slice it for you for sandwiches. I purchased the garlic salami today and it is amazing. Sometimes a line can form outside so it's best to go early in the day as only 6 people are allowed in the store at a time. It's a very small area inside so it's understandable. The atmosphere reminds me of something from way back in the old school days. Well I supposed that's because of the building being so old anyways. The entire situation is an experience that's pretty cool. If you haven't been to Lockeford Sausages you really should take a trip out and get something. You can get sausages of course but also there is jerky, meat sticks, hot dogs, bacon and various other things like marinated tritip. If you've ever been to a local street fair around here and ate a big grilled sausage on a big roll and thought it was the best grilled sausage you've ever had, it most likely was a Lockeford sausage.

The business has clearly changed hands and the offerings are very different than they used to be. I'm not usually much of a risk-taker when it comes to food--especially unfamiliar ethnic dishes--but my fridge was empty, they were available on DoorDash, and I didn't feel like getting back in the car. I'm so glad I took the chance! First, the empanadas were absolutely beautiful--generously filled, fresh, and delicious. I also ordered a few bakery items to enjoy with my morning coffee, and they were fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Then came the tri-tip sandwiches. I ordered one on ciabatta and one on Dutch crunch, and both were outstanding. The meat was tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. For dinner, I tried both the steak pot pie and the chicken pot pie... and wow. Comfort food at its finest. And finally, here's where I really stepped outside my comfort zone--I ordered the Chicken Biryani. It was incredible! Now I can't wait to work my way through more of their Indian dishes and curries. Beyond the food, their customer service was excellent. They communicated well, verified my order, and even delivered it promptly themselves. I was also surprised to see the state of the shop. It was not at all as I remembered it. The produce didn't look fresh and there was a layer of dust on items in the shop. They obviously have new management as they are now offering Indian food. I was interested to see that at first because I love Indian food, but after we got out and were looking around, I feel like it is actually a detriment to this place. I wanted to look at the pies but everything looked like it had been sitting and the smell of curry was thick. It's hard to get excited for sweetened farm fresh pie when you have a nose full of spice. That really put me off getting a pie. Still, I thought I would go with it so I decided to try some of the new menu instead since it was all I could smell. The menu is extensive and I tried to find someone to make an order but I couldn't find an employee so I ended up leaving. The way this shop is now is a peculiar combination and I am sad that I will probably not every have the urge to stop here again.

The staff is super sweet, we were greeted and helped right away. We didn't get to try the ice cream this time but the sandwiches were fantastic! They use Boars Head meats, delicious cheeses and they serve everything on fresh baked bread or rolls. I had an espresso while we waited for our order, it was really tasty. We grab our order to go as we passed through town, but we will no doubt be back.

It's not only that it is pretty much the only option outside going to Lockeford or ALLLL THE WAY to Lodi, but the prices are great and Sauleman (one of the main cashiers) is just the nicest guy I have ever met that worked in convenience. The gas price isn't ideal unless you are almost out of gas and can't make it to 99, but it's nothing to complain about given the distance from Lodi. I get gas there if I am going to Stockton rather than Lodi and have no real complaints about its price. The beer prices are what you go for, they have a decent amount of single beer (24oz 32oz and 40oz) for good prices, their liquor is neither here nor there though. Currently there is a Mexican restaurant connected to it with a joined breeze way that makes good food, but the prices again are not ideal unless you don't want to drive all the way to Lodi, then it's the only good Mexican food for miles.
