I had a hot date lined up and decided to pull out the big guns. Walked straight to the butcher counter, looked the man in the eye, and said, "Mate, I need something that says I mean business." He didn't flinch. Reached in and handed me a tomahawk ribeye the size of a cricket bat. I swear a light shined down on it. Seasoned it proper, bit of salt, pepper, garlic butter, and fired up the grill like I was hosting my own cooking show. The end result looked like art. Juicy, tender, and cooked to absolute perfection. When she saw it, she didn't even care about the sides. Just said, "You made this?" All I could think was, thank you H-E-B. You never miss. Five stars for keeping the blokes like me looking good.

Went into this H-E-B on Friday night. It was 08:24pm and the cashier by the name of Jasmine P had a…read morehorrible attitude. I was accompanied by my sisters. We each had a transaction of our own. My first sister gets her items scanned and while inserting the chip on her card it was failure to read. Jasmine P. proceeds to then insert the chip herself to ensure it was done accurately. Pin pad wasn't reading and she grew frustrated. That was strike one. Then I'm next to pay; I was purchasing two balloons and she RUDELY said " I cant scan these without a barcode." I said "call someone!" Then the kindest woman named Glo came over and said to scan the balloon itself and it should process. Jasmine P proceeded and it worked. So the attitude was not needed or welcomed. Her manager than came over and said "turn off your light." (didn't catch managers name but he was male) Jasmine P than responds under her breath "you dont have to tell me twice." COMPLETELY UNCALLED FOR. Jasmine P. needs to create a plan where she is nicer and patient with the public, as she works in a customer service setting. I'm forced to give this place one star to get my message across. Nevertheless, I want to thank Glo for being helpful and kind.

I will drive out of my way to get it as I head into South Texas. They also have Alsatian style sausage, which is a nice change from the German and Polish and Czech sausages that we have in abundance in Texas due to our history (All well appreciated!) I bought a brisket kolache which was phenomenal. The best thing I ate in Texas on my 9-day trip. I got some jerky which was delicious and perfect to have in my backpack while hiking in Big Bend. I also bought some cherry salsa and bourbon bacon bbq sauce. I didn't tear into them until I got home. My only regret is I didn't buy more. I need to make another road trip to Texas and next time I will bring my cooler and max out my credit card.

It's way more "manageable" than bigger H-E-Bs, & while they might not have the obscure organics or artisanal offerings of a Central Market or other H-E-B's, this store is a hidden gem. The shelves are always stocked, the aisles are always clear, & the associates are always happy & quick to help. I pretty much know where everything is, but the few times I've wandered aimlessly looking for something, fellow shoppers -- mostly older & wiser -- have helped me find whatever it is I'm hunting down. I've always preferred small grocery stores to large ones, & I really have a soft spot for this one. Maybe because I grew up in the area, or maybe I just like how leisurely a shopping trip here is; I enjoy my time spent here, & I think it's a nice change of pace from the Walmarts & Targets of the world. A pro-tip: the H-E-B app is a great help for a store as condensed as this one (& any H-E-B in general). It tells you aisle by aisle if they have something you want in stock, so you can save time, gas, & energy if you need something in a pinch.

When I came in there was no one behind the counter. I looked into the shop to see two guys sitting…read moredown watching a third working. I tried to go back out so I could ask for help and automatic door wouldn't open. Finally a young man, one of the two that was sitting down came out. Acting annoyed he asked what I needed. I explained we were on the way to our grandsons birthday party and needed a tire repaired. He said it would take an hour and a half. I asked if I could leave the tire. He said yes, if I took it off myself. I did, they said they could put it on when i returned. When I returned the manager said if I wanted then to put it on it would be a 45 minute wait. They said there were four cars ahead of me. I asked how that was if I had dropped it off earlier. I ended up putting the tire on myself. While doing so my car fell off the jack and almost fell on me and damaged my front bumper. Waste off $15 and now have to get my car repaired, because of your lazy unhelpful shop.

The park they built across the street is beautiful and equipped with a skate park, basketball court, playground and swings. I see why so many of the locals hang out here. I have found great items from food to cosmetics to pet goodies. I was grateful to find they have many options even though they are on the smaller side. When it is cold I often come for the warm and ready gumbo and tortilla soup. Their low carb ready to go meals have made my life so much easier during the busy week. They even have sourdough fresh made in the bakery. I usually end up here over most other stores for my main groceries due to the always pleasant experience. It does tend to get pretty crowded and parking can be tricky. So I often come during early hours during the week.
