I never thought I'd be writing a review for Dollar General!!
Sometimes you just walk away from a place and think, "Man, I just had such a surprisingly pleasant experience it would be a sin not to pay a compliment!"
It's even more compelling when that experience is at a friggin' Dollar General!! Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with Dollar General. But, in my past experiences, there's never been anything that great about 'em either. But that has all changed since I went to this particular location.
I was going to pick my daughter up at school and remembered I needed cat food. My back was telling me it hated my very existence that day. So I said to myself, "Self, you REALLY don't want to walk ALL the way to the back of Kroger to get cat food." Then there she was, like an oasis in the desert with the rays of Heaven shining upon her ... the Dollar General. So, I whipped in the parking lot intent on bagging me some Griller's Blend for my over indulged feline bums.
Not expecting anything other than to grab the cat food and go, I was greeted by a really friendly lady named Dani. I assume that's the proper spelling. It's pronounced like the male version Danny. As usual I digress.
As I made my way to the cat food I began to observe how clean and organized this location was. I've been in some Dollar Generals and feel like I need to be sterilized afterward. Of course I ended up grabbing a few extra items. I was even sucked into a Vienna Sausage tractor beam! Man, I haven't had those since college. I used to love those damn things. So I bought 2 friggin' cans to relive my glory days of munchies and lack of concern. Pray for me.
Once again, I digress. I proceeded to checkout and Dani was a genuinely nice and friendly person. By this, I mean she wasn't some automaton cranked out at Dollar General training. She was just a nice person. WHAT A CONCEPT!!!! Hiring humans
So, I left and it suddenly struck me what a pleasant experience I just had. An experience I would have never had but for my own laziness. See, being lazy does have some benefits. I looked at my receipt and noticed an online survey. So, I did that bad boy and paid Dani some props. Seriously, how much could this nice lady be making putting up with hordes of jerks looking for cheap Vienna Sausages??? Then, I thought I'd give her some Yelp-style props! Good on ya Dani!! And if you're ever feeling lazy and need something real quick, swing in this location.
Don't forget the Viennas!!! read more
