This was an average store but the customer service was great. Nice selection. Appropriate pricing. I plan on returning.

The City of Paulsboro is desperate for something bright and new so this mini-grocery store's shining edifice along a highway of despair is truly needed. No, this is not the mirror image of those convenience stores named after the rolls of dice who offer a few dusty grocery items amidst old crusty frankfurters on heated wheels but most familiar labels do go missing amongst your options. Curiosity linked directly to $5 off a $25 purchase coupon on a day when I needed about $30 worth of groceries enticed me to travel the 2 mile journey southwards. The fresh tar scent rose on this hot day from the deep dark colored parking lot highlighted in freshly painted outlines of parking spaces! Everything was bright and shiny even the concrete building appeared to have been placed polished. Entering through the entrance/exit door combo that on some future date risks customer collisions one immediately is in the land of fresh produce. Ok it is more like a produce corner because the options are few because after all this is not a full service grocer. But bananas are being sold at last century prices, which is pretty cool and the employees all are smiling. If there is one glorious consistency at this Save a Lot it is the smiles and care for customers demonstrated by every single employee I observed. I even felt the positive vibes as a management type directed his new employees in their tasks. Make this a hallmark of this business and people will look forward to their grocery shopping. Prices throughout the store are reasonable but they don't offer classics from world renowned labels. I was disappointed not to find V8 juice amongst the choices. Their frozen (at sea perhaps) seafood was a great bargain even though not one itsy bitsy shrimp reached my cart. Meat items adorned in plastic protective enclosures were butchered elsewhere but seemed quite popular with my fellow shoppers. The shelves were neat and items stacked in their shipping boxes. Gleamingly clean floors and freezer cases that you can actually look through all added to the appeal. The good news I found everything I needed. After all I was only shopping for $30 worth of stuff ... I actually bought a few bonus items. The bad news ... this store's limited produce and small selection of meat options will not entice me to change my food shopping habits, This poverty entrenched small city along one of America's broken highways deserves the hope offered by a bright shiny well managed business that provides jobs and good customer service. This store during Grand Opening Week might be a boost this community needs to reverse directions and its owners deserve credit for apparently doing everything the right way!

This review is for the times we are living in and for today's experience but ... the only reason…read morethat this is not a 1 star is positive past experience with this store. In addition, I know that this store is a superb community partner. That being said ... I can't give a negative star but today the people working at this store could have given me a long hospital stay or worse! My cashier's piece of cloth that might be a mask hung limply along her neck and I glanced at the other cashier who had conveniently lowered her mask to wait on a customer. Where was management telling these people that their refusal to properly wear a mask could kill me or perhaps pass along asymptomatic truths to me and I might kill my daughter who lives with serious health realities. WHERE WAS MANAGEMENT??? Judging by the shelves appearance my guess is that management is on vacation. This store is poorly stocked and truly offers an appearance of disarray. In addition to possible killing me or being an accomplice in my killing my daughter or other individuals who cross my path (My mask fully covered my nose and mouth but I am aware that masks don't protect me from others with COVID they only help prevent me from harming others.) she struggled to scan my purchases (Thankfully, there were only a few!)! So, upon arriving home ... off went the clothes and I soaped my face and hands still fully aware that if contact tracing is needed for anyone amongst my family and friends who might get ill in the next two weeks I will be able to pretty accurately guess the source!

I'll go out on a limb and decide this kind of reminds me of 5 and 10 cent stores of the past, combined with that little corner store with sundries, milk, cigs, that used to be everywhere from the 30s through the 70's. During the various holiday seasons you will find decorations to purchase outside lining their sidewalk on the side of the building. You see this driving by and it's hard not to turn in and check them out. As you enter the building you will also see some of the outdoor decorations to the right along with a section that appears to have some magazines/ periodicals. To the left and at the counter lottery tickets are available for purchase. As you make your way to the back of the store you start to realize that it transforms from a mishmash to a section that they decided would be more organized and definitely geared towards inexpensive home decor. It's a local gem worth a "stopby" where I'm sure you will find something to purchase. A "must stop"during various holiday seasons.

Gotta love the ego posturing reviews busting on this place like y'all are too good. Please. Get…read moreover yourselves. You went in for bargains; they're there, pretty much every visit. None of the other reviews mention any actual experience or give photos. Why even post something? This is the "hole-in-the-wall" dive bar version of shopping. They have $5 authentic MLB gear because they're not making the store all posh. Get it? Economics 101. Want to pay $32 for the same MLB tee? Go to Kohl's. Certainly Kohl's is not posh, but I doubt these other reviewers really know posh anyway. Come here expecting dive bar ambiance, dive bar staff, and dive bar ghetto chaos. Prepare to work for your bargain by digging through racks, and you'll find them. I've gotten great deals on Gildan hoodies. GoldToe mostly-cotton athletic socks, auth Philly team gear, and tons of kid clothes for $0.50 to $5/pc on Lands End, Children's Place, and a variety of sporty brands like Champion/Adidas/Puma etc. Shoe section is normally low quality but occasionally I'll find something good. The staff is always friendly to me. I don't treat people like servants or expect the worst. I am polite and respectful of hard-working human beings and I generally get kindness reflected for that outlook. All in all I love this place for the money it saves me. Not worth the gas from my home to go if I'm not nearby, but almost every time I visit Heinz Reserve I stop on the way home. And almost every visit, I leave a few bargains richer!
