Now we are seeing the results of the move: Not only more shelves and freezers of such products, BUT with more varieties! We applaud Wegmans trying to carry more healthier alternative products that people might want to investigate and possibly purchase in their near future! That considered, they still DO sell all the fast and junk food which will kill you faster than quick, or get you fast and living in a hospital quick enough!!

However, the reason for my three star review is for something I'm very particular about and that I really value in a business a business can have the most wonderful products in the world, but it's the customer service that really takes it over the top and I'm sad to report. I did not experience the five star service everybody has been reviewing about. I stopped in to the market and bought some Costanzo's rolls and some clams. I saw that the clams were priced 3.49 so I thought that was a wonderful price so I grabbed another when I went to check out I wasn't even greeted by the cashier who was an elderly woman with short gray hair, however she did greet the two gentlemen that were in line in front of me, strike one. When I handed her my rolls she said "oh sure you want those big rolls" as if she were judging me based on my purchase and then when it came to the clams, she rang them up and said wait a minute this isn't right I got to see then she saw the price tag marked 3.49 and then she gave me a side eyed look as if I was the one that put the price tag there? Strike two. And then to top it all off very carefully. She said I had to bag my own groceries myself having experience as a cashier never in my life have I seen a cashier tell the customer to bag their own products that should be the cashier's job and for the stellar service everyone raves about that's the complete opposite strike three. So therefore I love the products there but I have to take away two stars for service.

In store sub line still sucks and it's still slow, but if you pre-order on the app for pickup it's great 80% of the time now. They did cut the meat portions by like 50% in the last 2 1/2 years,forget things like the extra oil on the side, cut it wrong, forget toppings, skimp on toppings... here and there, but it's better than it was. Sushi: 4.5 stars out of 5. Filling portions have gone down some in the last 2 1/2 years, but quality is still good. It's rare to get old mushy avocado in their sushi now. They always have great new rolls to try. Staff are always friendly working that section too. Pizza: 3 stars out of 5. Beer selection: 5 stars Phenomenal HUGE rotating selections of local and imported beers as well as large great non alcoholic variety. They have beer on the shelves and a walk in cooler too. Shelf stocking staff: 5 stars Always organized, faced, and clean with a good variety. Stocked well 90% of the time and rarely anything out of date or damaged. Parking lot and cart staff: 5 stars It's so clean and debris free. Carts are always orderly as well as restocked quickly. Bonus: If there's ever a spill, broken glass, or garbage anywhere in the store or parking lot staff are on it IMMEDIATELY. Very clean!

Naturally, I still find myself frequenting this Wegmans whenever I'm back in Buffalo. The Amherst Street Wegmans has a massive parking lot, though you would never know it during the peak hours. Between how popular this store already is and the addition of the Wegmans Wine & Spirits shop in the same plaza, it's usually pretty packed. You might not snag a spot close to the entrance but you'll find a spot. Might I suggest that patience is basically required, as with all things Wegmans. Once inside, I'm almost always overwhelmed (in the best way) by how much there is. Prepared foods, deli counter, meat and seafood, bakery, flowers, produce, frozen foods. You name it, Wegmans has it and they probably have a Wegmans branded version, too. I love browsing the craft beer section and, more recently, the growing selection of non-alcoholic options (Thank you, Wegmans!). Honestly, I can't complain. Yes, Wegmans can feel overwhelming, but now that I don't actually work there anymore, I've grown to appreciate the variety, freshness, quality, and pricing. The things I would do for Wegmans to come to the West Coast... until then, I'll keep savoring every visit to Weggies while I'm back home.
