I know that part of the reason we takes trips is to sample other cuisines and get a break from cooking. But you know something? After being on the road awhile, sometimes I get tired of restaurant food. Take it from someone who's traveled a lot on business the past few years! To tell you the truth, Rick and I are both good cooks and we don't mind splitting the kitchen chores. And generally the food you prepare yourself is way healthier than what you get dining out. Not to mention the cost factor either. We stocked up on meats, cereals, and the fruits that a type-1 diabetic needs to get through the day. It's a pleasant small town grocery store. Quality was good and so were the prices. Let's hope they don't get squeezed out by Walmart or some other mega chain.

What I like about this Walmart vs. the Bloomsburg Walmart, is this store seems to have a better and more frequently restocked selection of items. The selection of items in the freezer section stands out. Where this Walmart loses out is due to being in a high theft area, a significant number of items are behind glass or locked up in some form. If a store does this, they need to have employees available at all times to come and get the items unlocked. This store does not seem to have those employees in the evenings to pull this off based on the roughly 10 minutes wait I had on a Friday evening. I left without the item. The self-checkout systems here are not as user friendly as other's I've seen, and the area to use them is constrained in space on the grocery side. This is also probably due to theft issues. Overall, I do like coming to this Walmart despite it being out of my way for the better selection compared to the Bloomsburg store.

They have a decent sized parking lot and you not going to park more than 100 feet away from the entrance at the farthest spot. If you want a shopping cart you have to deposit a quarter into the lock (don't worry you get it back when you return it). Like most stores you enter into the produce section. They have an actually impressive assortment with most of the produce being from area farms in the region. They even have some delicacy items that you would have to drive 30 minutes to a large chain store to get. The aisles are all very wide so navigating the store is easy. In the center is all of your dry goods. Some of the dry goods are their own brand. We have tried their rice crispy and a couple others and they raiser just as good as the original for usually half the price or better. The meat and poultry section is decent size and they have good variety. They do sell fish that is in vacuum sealed packaging. The cooler section has all the normal stuff along with the frozen food section. One thing I really like is that the frozen food chests in the middle of the aisle have glass doors on top so you don't have to worry about maybe getting products that have thawed. Aldi also sells some home wares and some outdoor things such as a greenhouse and yard box. They have the normal seasonal decorations for sale also. The prices are normally very competitive and in some cases far cheaper. One thing I did notice is that the soda and seltzers seem to be considerably more expensive. We normally get La Croix seltzers for our camper and pay around $4/12 pack. Here they were $5.55. Overall the store is great and has all your staples.

First, the pharmacy - the pharmacists and staff are super friendly, helpful and professional. I've gone to three different places for COVID shots - a Rite Aid just north of Philly for the Patriarch, this Weis and another Rite Aid for the NMA (who has a qualifying health condition). By far, Weis pharmacists get top billing from us. Second, Lion LOVED the local and regional beer selections. He is a home brewer and this is his hobby. He was very impressed both times with the selection and the quality of the brews. Lastly, we did some shopping before our ride back both times. I was SO impressed with the quality and selection of the fruits and veggies, especially in the wintertime, everything was tasty and fresh. A couple more things: Very clean store! I called a family who I know are attached to their phones looking for requests. Nobody picked up. I text them, "Nobody picks up their phones ... No Wegmans for you!" My phone then blew up! I came home with fresh pineapple, chocolate chip & double chocolate muffins, AND ultimate chocolate chip cookies. There is so much to see, the variety of products , the freshness of seafood, meat and produce ... I spent two hours making selections. I was in my happy place. The apple doesn't fall from the tree. Stopped at my parents on the way home to share my bounty ... it was childlike wonder as I opened the 3 coolers and we oohed and aahed ... priceless.
