This is a small town butcher shop that has some fantastic meats to choose from. On a recent visit to the area, I picked up the perfect assortment of bbq ready staples. The black angus hot dogs were delicious. The store made burgers were yummy too! The show stopper, the rib eye steaks! Absolutely amazing!!! We bought 120 lbs of boneless chicken breast because we were told it was steroid and hormone free. The box it was packed in was stamped indicating it was steroid and hormone free by Federal regulations; however when I removed the first chicken breast from the box it measured 10" x 14" which is larger than most turkey breast making it impossible to be free of chemicals. I then call the store and the lady that answered said it was not packaged by them therefor she is not responsible for false advertising. This is not good practice or fair to the consumer. I then asked why are they buying chicken from a company knowing the chicken is not as advertised by what is printed on the box and by the people working at the counter. This is poison to the public and I would not recommend eating this low grade chemical filled chicken. So if you don't care that the chicken is full of chemicals for you and your children this is the place for you! read more

We purchase chicken breast in bulk. It is high quality, and is amazingly inexpensive if purchasing large quantities. Even by the individual pound, the price and quality exceed local chain grocers. While their other grocery items are somewhat limited, the products that they do carry tend to be a much better value than items at Weis or Wal-Mart grocers. read more

Manager hung up on me because she was too lazy to get a price on American cheese. She told me to take my business to Anthracite. I don't care what we are all going through, you DO NOT treat customers that way. Anthracite would never treat someone like that asking for a price. This is a fantastic place to stop in for milk- bread- chips - all kinds of meat / pork/ chicken & even seafood. They also have a deli section and cooler section with various cheeses and sandwiches and salads... this is all Along with other neat items like fresh bakery treats for both you and your dog. I won a $40 gift certificate from a Local Chinese auction for the Irish Isle Provisions. I purchased two Breaded Oysters Homestyle 2lb and to spend the rest of the certificate decided to get a whole boneless pork Loin at $1.89lb for $19.58 to spend the rest of the certificate. When we arrived home and went to process to pork loin, it was enveloped in fat. only got two decent roasts and had to discard the rest. Called to complain and he said that's they way they are. After speaking to a close friend she said she will never go back there again because of the same reason. I thought he would want to make it right but no such luck. I had pre ordered food from there and noticed when I got home that the food given was expired and I got more products than asked for and got charged for it I called them and spoke directly to the owner and it was such poor customer service the owner was using profanity and yelling over the phone and then hung up on me. read more
