Stopped at this sandwich restaurant on Monday how about 11:45 AM after a work assignment Shikellamy state park in Northumberland, Pennsylvania. Ordered the 9 inch Italian Cold cut sub sandwich and a bag of chips. Waited standing on the sidewalk for 25 minutes for the order to be delivered. The sub roll was cold and it appeared to be a store-bought roll not homemade like many sub shops are doing nowadays. I asked for oil and vinegar and oregano with the sandwich and I could barely taste the oil and vinegar and there was no oregano. The chips were a "no name" brand that I never heard of before and can't remember. They were mediocre. The check with a two dollar tip was about $11.50. If you really have to have a Italian sub sandwich I guess you might try this place... But I won't be coming back again. I will say, however, that at least five - six fairly large orders were filled by takeout customers who had called in their orders before me as I waited there for my order to be prepared. So it must be a fairly popular with the local town residents. read more

Delicious. Had a roast beef sub and a bowl of broccoli cheese soup. Service was friendly and outdoor seating was nice.

I'd like to start this off by saying the young girl who served us was very kind and although she seemed thrown when asked about if it was safe for Laura to eat there with her but allergy she recovered and assured us we would not have any issues. Lets get right into it! Walking into On A Roll you have the normal sub shop type feel and I love that. It looks generally clean, they have arcade machines in the back, and the service is kind and welcoming. The food itself was actually really good. A big issue with subs in this area are the rolls. The rolls here are VERY good. Sturdy with some give. My favorite. I got the tuna sub and I must say it was VERY good. My only issue is TOO MUCH TUNA. Really though. I could have made 3 more sandwiches with the amount layered on my roll. It is always better to have a bit more than less and I understand that they are being kind but this felt like a waste. It was an exorbitant amount. Peppers were great and not watery, maybe could have used a dash more mayo or oil, lettuce was crisp and fresh looking/tasting, as previously mentioned the roll was firm with some give (perfect for a sub). Overall a high ranking sandwich and in this area top in its class! Great job On A Roll! When we are in the area we will be back! read more

See all

This is a good old fashioned sub shop in the central Pa tradition-- the best of the few that still remain. Sometimes your order takes some time... not the best if you're pushed for time. A bit pricey but well worth it. read more

Some of the best subs we've ever had. All sandwiches are big no matter what size you get. But large are on French baguette, it's sooooooo good. Only thing I don't like from here is their cheesesteak's they are not an actual cheesecake to me. Bother than that 10/10 recommended read more

Delicious subs absolutely loaded with ingredients. If it's just for you order a small. Larges are easily shared. My favorite is the Italian. Yummy read more

Friendly, fresh, and will take extra steps if you have allergies! I have celiac disease, and they ALWAYS keep my order separate from other orders. There is always a chance, but I have NEVER had any issues read more

Subs are absolutely the best. Pricey but sooo worth it. Give them a try. Do not forget oil

London Broil with horseradish mayo was Incredibly. I got the special lunch combo & it was not specially shorted on the meat. Meat piles n wonderful deal of $6.50. Can t wait to go back n work all the magnificent menu items. Down fall, it is a mad house during lunch. So don't b like Sally n get butt hurt because you didn't get royal treament in a sandwich jawn. read more

I love on a roll. Great local business with amazing sandwiches. Careful the large is huge and good for 2 meals. Usually very busy so call if you can get through. It is worth the wait though. Cheese steak wasn't great just ok, but everything else I've had was awesome. read more

Great subs! Fresh ingredients and lean meats. Plenty of meat in subs. Really great value!

Great spot to grab lunch! The food is great and freshly prepared. The veggie sandwich is tasty and packed full - I need to eat some of it with a fork before I can pick it up. Great value - the mini sub with a bag of chips is a perfect amount of food for me. Mini is 4", small is 9" and large is 18". The combo includes chips and a drink for a low price. The tomato soup (a special one day) was very tasty. Around lunch time, it might be good to call ahead. But even when I've had to wait, it hasn't been long. There are little tables to eat at, or you can carry out. I've done both! They do take credit cards, but there's a 50 cent charge, so it might be a good idea to hit the ATM. Lunch for one person should be under $10. read more

This place has awesome hoagies! The Italian is great and so is the Triple Threat! They don't skimp on the meat. We got large hoagies and got 4 meals out of them. Prices are great too! I tried the bacon cheeseburger sub and it was good, but I've had better, so I won't get that again, but will definitely be back! read more

I ordered two Italian Subs by phone. When they finally answered I was immediately put on hold. After a few minutes she came back took my order. I had to explain 3 times how I wanted no Mayo on 1 sub. I picked up the subs I ordered . The rolls were not fresh and I had almost no oil oregano and vinegar. The subs did have plenty of meat, but overall just weren't good. read more

I've always enjoyed this sub shop, however, if today is any indication on how they treat students, I won't be back. A group of students ordered subs for delivery. When the subs were delivered, they tipped the driver 15$, but didn't check the order right away. When they did, they were short two subs. When the students called On a Roll, they were told that the order was correct and they would not rectify the problem. Now two children were left without food. This is NOT an establishment that I will be visiting ever again. There are many other sub shops like Bottleworks, that will be happy to provide excellent customer service! The food is much better too! read more

The food is wonderful. The workers are very friendly. You get a lot of meat in the sandwiches. The salads are great. They even have gluten free options! read more

This is my favorite hoagie place. The London Broil hoagie is the best hoagie I've ever had. My fiancé ordered the cheesesteak in the garden. She really doesn't care for hoagies (crazy, I know). However, when she bit into it she LOVED it! Great place. The sides are great too! read more

Hands down, without a shadow of a doubt, THE best hoagies in the area! Always packed full of meat and veggies. Great value!

Every time I have bought a sub here, have been very happy with it, was excellent. Bun always fresh, enough meat, just right. Last night bought a B L T sub, not happy with it at all, 2 small slices of tomatoes, skimp on bacon, but lots of lettuce, disappointed. read more

Great sandwich place! I've been at least 20 times so far and everything I've had is top notch.

Employee ignored us for way too long, didn't look at us when taking order. meatball sub was supposed to be on toasted roll, got home, tried to eat & bun was nothing but wet blob, ate meatball with fork, pitched roll. one large sub, one chips, 2 sides +20 bucks! read more
