So I call and talk to the manager of the meat department and he told me "they'll probably refund you in the front" (which they did) but I told him I didn't really want to be that person and complain but it's getting frustrating. Having to do multiple trips to the same store for one meal because of the meat. Like every month. The food prices are already high. Not to mention for a local grocer. And to get home and find out the food you just bought is already bad? It shouldn't really be my job to check dates. There are food distribution laws that prohibit that. And he told me either deal with it or drive a half hour somewhere else. I also addressed the fact the last time I called they sold me RANCID chicken that hadn't even hit its expiration date yet and he told me "well what do you want me to do, open the packages everyday??". I'm not sure but in most other department stores when i call and notify them of rancid/dangerous products, the response shouldn't be "yeah we heard, just bring it back for a refund." That would be a recall on product for the public in most other stores. Love the cashiers. But that was totally on character for the other calls I've made to the meat department. The other manager in the front also seemed less than interested in the fact his employee acted out like this or that they sold bad/ dangerous merch. Will not be visiting again.

This location has an excellent selection across just about every food category. There was plenty of fresh produce, canned goods, bulk grains and rice, dairy products, beverages, and much more. I also discovered something I'd never seen before: Walking Tamales. They looked like an interesting alternative to the typical energy bar, which often seems loaded with sugar and other sweeteners. The people at checkout were friendly and helpful, making for a pleasant shopping experience. I'd definitely stop back the next time I'm in the area.

I got the best brewed coffee of the day there (impressive considering I stopped at two different coffee shops beforehand) and also purchased a package of pita chips and hummus that were made in Eau Claire-the pita chips were spectacular-the best I've ever had, and the hummus was good too. I opened the hummus pack last night with the idea of only eating a few, but couldn't stop myself until half of it was gone. So crispy, crunchy, yet airy and light.

Our son is a very picky eater and we can only eat so much pizza and beef, so it's great to add another item to our menu's. :-) It was wonderful to talk to the owners about how they raise their bison and see all the products that are made out of bison. My favorite food that we tried was the steaks and bison bacon. Next time we schedule an appointment for more meat we will bring our kids! The picture is from our camping trip. ;-)

It's Wisconsin, so of course they have sausages. I would put their sausage selection right up there with Kramarczuk's. Also, they make their own sauerkraut, which I highly recommend. There is a grocery store too with produce. It's a great one stop place to get everything you need for dinner.
