It was 30 degrees with temperatures dropping & light snowingso I was happy to be inside with minimal outside exposure :) To get from the airport to the car rental area is all indoors which is nice & warm,but to actually pick up your vehicle requires going into an open parking garage which is covered. Picked a Hyundai Sonata, nice car, nice drive to Sioux City, Iowa which was a 90 min drive with lots of farm land scenery :) Btw...my favorite feature in the car was the heated seats. Had a reservation for a car with UNLIMITED miles (driving from OMA to DEN and back), get to the airport and girl at the counter says 200 mile a day limit. I showed her the reservation I printed out that clearly says unlimited miles, she doesn't care, pulls out some piece of paper that she says is company policy that it's 200 miles/day and won't budge. I will NEVER deal with them ever again, and would tell anyone else thinking of renting from them to look somewhere else. read more

This locally owned business is a legal scam. They purposely don't mention hidden fees that only apply to their local store that will appear as fine print in your contract. These policies are unusual and not general like restrictions on out of state driving and a reputable business would advise you of these policies clearly. No emails or verbal correspondence you receive will indicate to you these policies. Then, upon your return, they throw every legal fee and tax they can as a percentage after adding the hidden fees you missed. My estimate: $200 My Bill: $1000 Don't rent here. BEWARE! My wife rented a car recently and after turning in the car less than an hour late, she was charged an extra 110 dollars on a 75 dollar rental (44$ for an extra hour and 76$ in extra "mandatory airport taxes"). My wife left shaking after she was treated so poorly so I called the agent at the airport and the exact same thing happened to me. I tried to walk through with the agent the charges and she could not explain them. She basically told me "it is what it is". I called the national Dollar customer service and they said that this was a PRIVATELY OWNED location and that they can charge you WHATEVER THEY WANT. It was by far the WORST customer service! It seems as if you are of an inconvenience to them. My first experience was with Jamie did not greet or give eye contact, seem to be bothered to do her job, couldn't even find the reservation despite having all information, and just a negative attitude using an unpleasant and undermining tone of voice. I will NEVER return to this Car Rental as it didn't get any better with anyone working there. I wanted to give this rental the benefit of the doubt, but after everything including OVERCHARGING, merely canceling from the start and avoiding making this mistake with that horrible service from the beginning with Jamie and the other two workers thereafter would have been a world better! PLEASE BEWARE! I am an experienced business traveler. I rent cars almost every other week for my business travels all around the world. I always make sure that I am not tricked into upgrading the car since everything was pre-approved by my client and I can't go over what was approved for. A few months ago, through Orbitz, I rented a car from this Dollars Rent A Car shop. It was a special vehicle ("blind date") with a fixed rental price. When I recently reconciled my credit card statement, and found that I was charged an extra 105 dollars extra. So I thought it must be a billing error from the rental agent, thus I called the agent. To my huge surprise, the agent told me that "it was an upgrade I asked for!" I told him that I never I asked for an upgrade since it was pre-approved business trip. I now have to eat this extra cost out of my salary:( I can't imagine that such a business practice exists!! Like the other review stated, this place is a scam operation!!! They charged us $70 extra dollars ($10/day) to add my wife as a driver when we rented a car in December 2018. Most other car rental places do not charge extra for a spouse. I contacted the manager 2x to try to get a refund as we were never told when getting that car that there'd be an extra charge. Each time they said it was part of the contract I signed. Run away and don't look twice!! This place is the biggest scam I have ever rented from. I came to Omaha to help bury my mom not my bank account! I was quoted $269 for 5 days and got a final bill of $414 - my hotel was only $298, should have stayed in the car. I drove very little I filled up before I got to the airport and was just a hair under the FULL, so I reported that to the person in the booth and was charged for 1/2 a tank!!! When I pickup to car Jill told me the refill rate was $2.25/gal and said we can fill before returning or get charged $2.25/gal not if under FULL charged for 1/2 tank!! Also I was asked if we both were driving - I said probably will and that would be $10 extra, not thinking that was per day!!!! I also asked for a car with GPS. When I picked it up I was handed a Portable GPS unit!!... wait for it.... and charged $10/day for use!!! I rented a Full size car - not a compact or subcompact with only bare essentials in it but fully loaded, one would think with in dash GPS. Then there are all these strange additional coverages: Customer Facility Charge each day, Recreational Fee, and RAF, the person I called to dispute the charges couldn't even tell me about these. As I questioned these charges I was interrupted after every time saying I signed the contract and was unwilling to work with me or discount anything. Bottom line - do not rent from here you will robbed for crazy charges though the quote from Expedia or other only sources will look good to you - I should have jumped on Yelp or other places and read the reviews. read more

I had an awesome experience with renting a car from Dollar/Thrifty. I rented a Hyundai Sonata and pick-up/drop off was a breeze. The airport had a free shuttle that runs from the airport to the car rental lot. Definitely made things less chaotic. Turning the car in was easy and the car only requires that it is turned in 1/2 full of gas. The car was awesome on fuel economy and I only burned through a 1/4 of a tank during my week stay. Watch the hidden fees! I should have gone with my instinct to try another company when they cancelled my reservation because my flight was 2 hrs. late. Instead of renting the inexpensive economy care I had originally reserved, I was stuck renting a high priced Dodge Charger because that was "all they had left". They add on a "mandatory" full tank of gas that you can decline only after you return the car, provided you bring a gas receipt. Of course, none of this is well explained. When I brought the car back (4 days later) at 6:00 AM for an early flight home, there is no one at the desk. Long story short... I drove the car 42 miles over 4 days (verified with them) I was charged $277. They said they had to put 4.3 gallons in to cover the 42 miles I drove (Seriously?!!!...,not possible!) My original reservation would have been $172. Jessica, the manager, kept trying to explain how she was "doing me a favor" since this was one of the last cars available (other choices wet a minivan and an F150 pick up truck.) When I told them I intended to call the corporate offices about their practices, I was told "Go ahead, this is a franchise" Next time I am in Omaha, I will use Uber! read more

Terrible experience. We expected a Toyota Rav4 or similar but were given a Kia Soul and told it was the same. Kia Soul is 1.5 feet shorter which means much less room for your bags and much les car in the way of amenities. We had 4 pieces of luggage and 5 adults and that meant no way to see out the back window and the luggage was forcing the person in the middle in the rear seat row to lean forward. Veery dangerous. We complained and they said too bad and that it was the only car they had available. We also asked if it was a problem to have a 2nd driver and they just asked for our licenses. They never mentioned the $10/day charge. We did not need the 2nd driver and if they had mentioned the charge we would have managed just fine with one. We tried to get it straight with the company but they would not return calls. I will never use Dollar Rental or Priceline again. read more

Avoid! Fraud! This business is an absolute nightmare. I reserved a car with them through Southwest. They didn't honor the Southwest quote. They gave me a lame excuse that there's other fees associated. But yet, couldn't list the fees. I rent many vehicles, this isn't my first rodeo. Then, was given a car with a cracked windshield. I noted the damage on the sleeve, and returned it to the attendant. (Mind you, this was after already given a car with a cracked windshield and low tire pressure. The attendant reluctantly gave us another car when I refused to drive a car off the lot, with already known issues.) When I returned the vehicle, during business hours there was no attendant. Then, three months later, sends me an invoice for a windshield replacement and two days of rental charges. The rental charges are supposedly for when the car was out of commission for renting. When I received the invoice, I contacted them requesting a copy of the sleeve I returned with the noted damages. They sent me a "copy" of a completely blank sleeve. I am very disappointed with my reservation. I reserved through Priceline and was expecting $150 for three days. Upon returning the vehicle it was nearly double! When I asked about the discrepancy the girl at the counter claimed the airport charges 47% tax on all purchases. When checking in we were told we could bring the vehicle back between 1/2 and 3/4 tank. We had slightly less than 3/4 and we still got charged for the gas. Reserved car online through Dollar site. Arrived at OMA and went to counter as instructed. Was met by a very brash woman who did not say hello, just drivers license and credit card. When she was doing the paperwork she said phone number, so i started giving her my number and she said ANOTHER NUMBER. i told her that was my only number and she instructed me to make one up. i asked why it was needed and she said "they" make her get two numbers. She then assigned me the last car in the lot and what a joke it was. A Toyota Corolla with 47,800 miles on it. Dirty, no power and shook like crazy when we got up to 60 MPH. i took the car back 13 hours early because it was so bad. I don't know how this company is still in business and I wish I had looked up their reviews before I rented with them. When I booked the rental I was quoted a price of $202.16 including taxes & fees. When we got there to pick up the car we were told they didn't have the type of vehicle we reserved available and offered to upgrade us to a sports car for only $31 more. I asked her to clarify that it would only be $31 more for the entire time not per day; she confirmed that. Like most people renting a car at an airport we were in hurry to get out of there so we didn't have time to review the paperwork we signed and assumed it wasn't a final statement anyway since the final charges depended on when, where and the condition we returned the vehicle in. They ended up charging us an additional $150 in fees for things they never disclosed or authorized with us included charging for a full tank of gas even though we returned it with 1/2 tank of gas which we were told we would be refunded for. After complaining to the Attorney General's Office we were only refunded $25 for roadside assistance (that we did not ask for) and were told we returned the vehicle with less than 1/2 tank so they would not refund us for any of that. So besides getting us to sign a receipt in advance with unauthorized fees so that later they can say 'well you signed for it', they outright lied on their paperwork to steal money from us. I only wish I had taken a picture of the gas gauge so I could prove them wrong. If you do rent from them make sure to review the paperwork very closely at time of pickup & take pictures of everything when you drop it off so they don't scam you too. If anyone wants to join a class action lawsuit against them let me know! read more

I rented a midsize car on March 7th at Omaha Airport Dollar/Thrifty. My Web search showed then cheapest with fees and taxes at $73. estimated. When I picked up the car the actual price for Taxes and Fees were $151. They would not adjust/make it right or close. I talked to the Local Avis counter and they stated they honor web projects or adjust to the web estimate if over $10. They reviewed the Fees and Taxes and stated many they do not know what they were and did not charge for them. Bottom this is a unfear business Practice because I purchased the cheapest and they Bait and switched to become a more expensive car. I contacted the web search site and they also would look into the problems because it also effected there business negatively. read more

They seem to be deliberately misleading to get business, then are unrepentant when confronted with their falsehoods. At least, that was my experience. Like others here, I booked unlimited miles but after I showed up was told I would get charged for over 200 miles per day because I was local. I showed my booking which clearly said"unlimited miles". No asterisk, no exceptions. Did that matter? Not a bit. To make it worse, I reserved a premium car and they didn't even have one! They tried to tell me the car I got was premium but would not show me their premium car list. They clearly knew they weren't being honest. Straight up bait and switch on both things To top it off. Truly awful customer service. I travel a lot and sort of expect this kind of deception in New York or Chicago. No offense, I love the cities. But I don't expect it in Omaha, so it was a bit shocking. The agent out by the cars is so jaded she doesn't even try. Sad, really. Here's something to know: Dollar and Thrifty are owned by the same person at Eppley. I raised such a stink they put me on the phone with her. I see why her staff is so poorly trained. From my experience, She just doesn't run her company very well. I don't recall having rented from them in the past, and I know I won't rent from them going forward. Just too much deception and not enough integrity. I recently went online to find the local number for Dollar so I could extend my rental and came across all these terrible reviews. I know most people only add reviews when something bad happens so I wanted to add my own to give them credit. I have rented with Dollar in Omaha multiple times over the last 20 years, including three or four times in the past year, and have always had a great experience. I get the cheapest cars but they're always good, quality cars and I have never had a problem with any of them. I have also had nothing but good experiences with all of the employees I have dealt with. Remember that a large part of the final bill is because Omaha charges beaucoup tax bucks on rental cars but there is nothing Dollar can do about that and since none of us live in Omaha there is nothing we can do about it either. read more

If I could give it zero stars I would. Reserved an economy car for 4 days of unlimited mileage. When I got there, the woman said I wasn't entitled to unlimited mileage because I hadn't flown into Omaha. She then said "I'm putting you in a car without cruise control." I was surprised there was such a thing but didn't object or request a different car. Then she said, "I'll tell you what, since you have a lot of driving to do, do you mind a full size car?" I replied, "I don't mind a full sized car." She interrupted me and said, "good cuz some people don't like them for some reason. This gets great gas mileage too and you can bring it back at any gas level and just pay $1.89/gallon." I questioned that and said that most places dock you a whole tank if it's not full. I asked, "Are you sure I won't be penalized for bringing it back less than full?" She assured me I'd only be charged for the gas I used. Then she put x's by where she said I needed to sign and did not explain what the tiny print was all about. By the time I left with the paperwork, it was 6:15 pm. By the time I got the car keys, it was after 6:20 and by the time I got in the car and adjusted the seat and mirrors, it was at or after 6:30. I pulled into the rental return stall at 6:32 because I looked at my phone to check the time. After taking my bags out of the car, checking the odometer, writing down the mileage and rental time on their paper per their request and making my way up to the counter, the rep rounded up to 6:40 pm. My original reservation was for approx $161.00. She handed me a bill for around $280. No explanation. I called later that same evening to say I'd left my house keys in the car. I was told I'd have to call back the next morning to get anyone to look. I was locked out of my apt building and home. I called the next morning. Waited over an hour and half before I heard back. They were never found. I know they were in that car. I also asked during the second call to have someone explain my bill as it didn't add up. The rep said she couldn't help me. Said I'd have to call a different person at a different number at a different time. After several attempts over the next 4 days, I finally reached said person. She said my final bill was even more than the final bill I'd received by Dollar when I returned the vehicle -- a bill I would never, ever have seen had I not asked to speak to the manager and tracked down after multiple attempts. Dollar charged me an up fee of $10/day for a full size car I never asked for. Dollar charged me for a full tank of gas, even though I brought it back at 1/3 or more full. Dollar charged me a fifth day because their timing said I was a later than 6 pm, the time I signed the rental agreement, not the time I actually had custody of the car or keys. The original rep at the counter was very sneaky. I never verbally agreed nor did I have any attempt or knowledge (no meeting of the minds) to agree to an upcharge on the car from an economy to a full. Her carefully chosen and crafted words misled me to believe Dollar was giving me a free upgrade. She did not explain I was initialing to a costly upgrade. I discussed this with the manager who spoke to the owner, who I have since tried twice to contact and heard nothing but crickets, how unfair and deceptive their practices are. Don't use Dollar in Omaha, NE ever! They are not fair. They will find ways to deceive you into doubling your bill, even if you're a charity who serves the poor around the globe, like my organization. Rented from the Dollar Car Rental located at the Omaha Eppley Airport. It was rented using a AAA discount code which included the use of a free car seat. The estimate showed the charge for the car seat, but the website and a phone call assured me the charge would be removed at final billing. When returning the car had to argue to get charge removed. Manager called and finally agreed that charge would be removed. I was told the site does not have to follow the national company's guidelines. What????? I rented a car from them at the airport, returned it full of gas. I asked the lady at the counter if she wanted to verify the tank was full and she said "No you are good". I asked if I needed anything from her and she said no you are all set. The paperwork i had on the car says if I did not return it full of gas it would be $2.09 a gallon to fill it. So what do they do, the claim it was not full and charged me over $6.50 a gallon. When I called them they were totally rude and acted like this was all my fault and tough luck. Renter beware. On Sunday, June 15th, I arrived in Omaha to attend the College World Series so I rented a vehicle from Dollar. When I returned the car after the game, I brought it back with a full gas tank. The slight of hand the agency performs when it comes to gas is dishonest at best. They charge you upfront for the gas whether you bring it back full or not and it takes almost a week to receive a credit for the full tank. When I showed up at the desk to pick up my car there were extra fees and taxes that weren't on my reservation adding about $40 to the cost. Had those "fees" been quoted a month earlier Dollar was the most expensive option and I definitely would not have have chosen them. Terrible experience. I travel for work and have rented with all the major companies in most major cities, and have never encountered worse customer service. As a frequent traveler, I am a Dollar express member and usually breeze right through. Instead of having a vehicle ready for me, I waited in a line of 5 people for almost a half an hour, and then the employee was extremely rude to me. Beware: the rental office is inside, and the outdoor station by the cars is not manned, so even if you are an express member do NOT go there without visiting the inside counter or you will have to walk back inside. read more

Returned car at 4:35 AM to catch a 6:00 AM flight. Of course no attendant at those hours (which I knew in advance) but fortunately snapped a photo of the car in the after hours return line with my iPhone (time & date stamped). I receive a charge on my CC for $80 higher than than the online reservation. When I finally get a hold of someone (Omaha Dollar is a franchise so Corporate has nothing to do with them) they claim I returned the car two hours late so they charged another $80. Funny the stated return time was 5:00 AM which means they think I returned the car at 7:00 AM. But I was on a flight to Phoenix at 6:00 AM. Disputed with my CC company who promptly removed, only to find out Dollar rebilled it again a few days ago. These people are not reputable. Only a manager can remove the charges and the manager would not talk to me nor returned my call. I'm sure they do this all the time and most travelers at that time of the day are business class who likely don't care they get overcharged because their company reimburses. That is not the case for me. Will fight it all the way but it shouldn't have to come to that. Better to stay away from this business and rent a car with a more reputable firm. read more
