Picked up a king cake, and by far, it's one of the best I've ever had. Perfect texture, perfect icing. Great balance. After devouring this great delicacy, I contacted them to have one shipped to our son, out of state. They were prompt, polite, and quickly took my order. The baker's inconsistent communication was unprofessional and blasé. I found them on social media and reached out about a custom cake. I provided detailed instructions and clear references, to make my vision as straightforward as possible. All that was left to do was discuss pricing and flavor options on her end. (I will attach screenshots to show I am not making this up, and include my report to the Better Business Bureau once filed). When pricing was being discussed, owners responses were nearly immediate. However, once that portion of the conversation was finished and I attempted to move forward with finalizing details, communication with her became sporadic and unreliable. Responses slowed to days later or stopped altogether without acknowledgment. This inconsistency created unnecessary friction in what should have been a simple administrative exchange. The overall interaction reflected a "hot and cold" scam-y approach, that did not inspire my confidence in her ability to manage even the foundational aspects of an order. If you are looking for thorough communication and a vendor who can competently handle straightforward client coordination, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. read more

Oh my word, y'all. This place is amazing! I found out, with less than a week to plan, that a friend of mine was headed to a big military school for 8 weeks. He LOVES tacos and I wanted to do something for him to recognize his achievement so I reached out to Dolce to see if they could put together a taco cake. They responded immediately and confirmed that they would be able to make the exact cake I wanted for the exact day and time that I needed it! I was so pleased after giving them short notice. They were great at communicating with me (we used Facebook messenger) and the process for ordering the cake went so smoothly. When I picked up the cake, they did curbside delivery to ensure safety during the pandemic. The cake was magnificent! It was absolutely gorgeous and perfect in every way AND it tasted amazing! My friend loved his cake and it served our entire group with plenty to spare. I was so pleased with the result and will definitely make this place my go-to for all future cake needs! read more

Gave this establishment one star only because it's the only way to write a review. 1- My daughter is planning a wedding 4/23 in Ms. Drove in from Houston (8 hrs) for a "tasting" at this establishment.. she received a box of stale cupcakes to take home and try. Birthday Cake, Wedding Cake, Strawberry Shortcake and if you can believe it.. Peanut Butter/Chocolate with M&Ms. Mind you.. this was for a WEDDING CAKE TASTING that she had paid a $100 deposit and scheduled.. Ok..she called the next morning, explained what had happened apparently they were not prepared even though the appointment had been made weeks before and that it must have been a mistake, rescheduled the appointment for another day and was told to come back on Saturday. We drove 2 hours (from Al) to Long Beach for a second try at this "Wedding Cake Tasting". Here's what we received: One Vanilla Cupcake One Almond Cupcake One 2oz cup of "Buttercream Frosting" (Asked for Chantilly Frosting) 2- Ok the "cupcakes " were dry and the almond cake was way overpowering, the Buttercream was not Chantilly icing. We were pretty much thrown a box of cupcakes with no explanation.. ALL THAT ASIDE.. the (I assume the owner.. can't really call her a baker) came out and asked if we would like to try some "filling", again supposedly prearranged and of course we said sure. All that was prepared at that time was Strawberry but, just as well.. tasted like it came straight out of a Smuckers jar.. so suffice it to say, the 2ND EXPERIENCE went about as well as the first.. I would NOT recommend this business for my wedding, my kids birthday party.. etc. not only because their cake is sub par but, their customer service is horrific!! I thought the shop did a nice job of following the instructions I provided over the phone about my desires for the cake. I even had the cake topper mailed to their store and they were able to match the icing accordingly. The cake was also very tasty. The birthday girl and guests were very pleased. My daughter's dental school graduation ceremony was cancelled due to Covid-19 so we changed plans last minute and ordered a cake from Dolce. It turned out beautifully and was so delicious. She did a carrot cake which is my daughter's favorite. It was one of the most delicious carrot cakes I have ever tasted. She is very talented as far as her cake decorating skills. It's hard to find a beautifully decorated cake that also tastes delicious, but she hit it out of the ballpark. Such beautiful, artistic talent! Was so excited to try the variety of goodies we purchased (cookies, cannolis, truffles, macaroons, cupcakes) and have to admit how terribly DISAPPOINTED and DISGUSTED the entire family was after this. Would recommend many other coast bakeries over this one including your local Wal-Mart. Everything had a terrible and artificial after taste. My fiancé and I were searching for a bakery to make a cake for our wedding and decided to give Dolce Bakeshop a try. First, the good: the cake that we sampled during our taste-test was wonderful, especially the homemade icing. Unfortunately this is where my praise of their business ends. First, when I inquired about a taste-test, no mention was given of the $20 fee they charge for this- we were informed only after we finished the taste-test. I chose to look past this and we returned to sign the contract to place our cake order two weeks later. Admittedly this fee will go towards your order if, but not telling us of the charge until we were ready to walk out the door was questionable. Second, upon putting down a nonrefundable $100 deposit, we signed our order contract (on a Saturday) and the owner told us she will have a copy of the contract sent to us by Monday. Monday passed and the contract was never sent. We followed up with the owner three times over the course of that week, and each time they made commitments via email or phone that they'd send us the paperwork at a given time/date, and after the third time that they did not keep their word we decided eat our losses and cancel our order to go elsewhere. In full disclosure, the owner did send us the paperwork the day after receiving our cancellation notice, without acknowledgment of said cancellation. Even so, the lackadaisical approach to a simple administrative task and the lack of follow-up to the verbal promises to get us a copy of our contract was a disappointment and did not inspire any confidence in their ability to deliver what we agreed to on our wedding day. read more

I now live in Virginia Beach, but I still cannot forget Dolce. Everything I ever bought here was delicious. The macarons, cupcakes, cookies, cookie dough, marshmallows, brownie batter, and milkshakes are amazing. My son and I have been reminiscing about coming here on Fridays after I would pick him up from school. The staff is always so friendly and kind. They really know how to keep people coming back with their tasty treats and awesome customer service. Customer service was great but very disappointed with the cupcakes. I got the chocolate cupcake which had no flavor and the icing was a glob with a bitter flavor. I took my wife and two children here around lunch and she couldn't get over how cute it was. We got 3 different flavors of cupcakes... pumpkin spice, tiramisu, and strawberry shortcake, each of which had their own Halloween themed name that I seem to have forgotten... our toddler had a cake ball and sugar cookies with icing on top. The strawberry shortcake cupcake was my favorite and the pumpkin spice cupcake won my wife over. I know you'll find this hard to believe but my toddler had no complaints either lol.
