Omakase! OMG - what a fun way to dine at this place…read more Ascend above the noise and bustle of the Electra House bars on the ground, and you arrive in an open space with a mixture of high (bar-style) and regular (dining room style) tables to suit your group dynamics. You have chopsticks AND knife and fork at hand, to fit in with the variety of Asian Fusion food offerings. The dishes are as appetising as the photos suggest. But once our knowledgeable server described the Omakase option, we were hooked! Four 'rounds' of dishes from the menu; changed on a daily basis - so think of it as the banquet option, but you never know which one until you arrive. Especially for a first time visit, it's the best way to go.

The edgy on-trend interior including 'Electra Blue' painted floors, neon signs and light boxes surrounded by Tasmanian Oak framing, give the sense of "You have arrived!" as soon as you set foot in the venue. With many years experience in Modern Australian, Italian, Korean and Japanese cuisine, Executive Chef Jamie Kang uses these skilled techniques paired with flavours from his Korean heritage in our contemporary asian menu. I came here for lunch on Saturday. The restaurant was really quiet for lunch time. There was only…read moremy table and another table of people eating in. The place is nicely presented, the tables are properly set with fancy chairs and looks like a fine dining restaurant. There are 2 menus. One for dine-in and one for take-away. We ordered from the takeaway menu but were able to dine in... The takeaway menu has all the dishes you'd expect from a Chinese restaurant and really cheap! Around the $10 mark. We ordered pork with sweet and sour sauce, spiced salt and pepper pork, fried egg noodles with vegetables, fried chicken and also steamed dumplings. All the food was really good and beautifully presented. The service was really good and I'll come back here again.

You'd think that a Friday night a restaurant in the city would be prepared for a busy night - but…read moreyou might just be wrong! Granted, we walked in, a group of 9 without a booking however the restaurant wasn't particularly busy. They had room for us, and after a few short minutes with the menu, wanted our order - we had to tell the waiter to back off a little! We placed our orders a little later, excited by the prospect of what looked like an interesting and tasty selection. After we'd ordered food, several in our party decided to grab a couple of bottles of white wine - the only problem was that they only had a single bottle of sav blanc cold. So one bottle was shared between us! Maybe 15 minutes later, a few dishes began to arrive - and it wasn't necessarily entrees first. Over the course of the following half hour, an array of dishes hit the table at varying times. My first serve of steamed dumplings arrived still frozen at the table - and granted the waiter was apologetic and a steaming hot serve was returned - about 10 minutes later. The food was good - when it arrived, but dishes being served over that space of time really just isn't great. It causes people to feel rude if they begin eating before others and then others to feel even hungrier than when they began. I may return if it's just myself and my partner but definitely wouldn't bring a group back!

Waiting for the initial controversial hype to pass, we finally made our way to this establishment…read morewhich used to be the Hampshire Hotel. Headed by the team behind Vietnamese Laundry and in collaboration with chef Miles Davies (previously Golden Boy, Jolley's Boathouse) the offering at this venture is Asian fusion, twisting and contrasting old favourites and creating new modern takes, such as the cheeseburger spring rolls, the pork roll-ups. Dishes are encouraged to be shared as most are tapas-style. We had quite a number of dishes as the menu was rather interesting. The chicken wings was delicious, but salty. The manchego sweet-corn, however was on point. They ran out of the trout dumplings, so it was substituted with a prawn and chicken ones. They were lovely, but a tad too salty and sweet for me. We also ordered the shallot pancake which came with two dipping sauces. It was overpriced in my opinion for one typical Asian pancake, which did not justify a $5.00 pricetag. Also shared was the oysters which was beautiful. It was refreshing and tasty. Interior decor was light and bright, with pastel pinks and greys throughout. Decked with booths and casual stools, mirror ball and a ping-pong table, it doesn't strike me as a pub. It is definitely different! It is a good place to catch up for a casual drink and nibbles. For something more substantially filling, I would head elsewhere.

A friend suggested Hotel Longtime after we were unable to get into another spot on a Tuesday night…read more When we arrived early around 6ish there were still quite a few tables available - by the time we left there were a lot more people and some waiting for tables. There's a mix of areas to sit and eat/drink, including outdoors which would be great for when it's warmer. We were served quickly for drinks and then our food order taken. Tuesday's is $4 baos so we ordered a mix of those + some pieces from the regular menu. I had the chicken, pork and royale with cheese. I wish the skin on the pork was a little more crispy, it was slightly soggy but still really delicious. The chicken was well cooked and not dry at all. The royale with cheese was a little hard but they nailed the flavours of the Big Mac for sure. The other dishes we ordered were Kimchi - so delicious we ordered a second serving Wings - not too bad, there was no spice when the schezuen (spelling) should have given it some sort of kick. Lemongrass sauce on the side was good Eggplant - full of flavor - be careful, its hot when you bite into it Edamame - a bit over salted on the top Overall we enjoyed our meal and the $4 baos are a great deal. Would definitely be back for a weekend drink and check out more of the fit out as they've done a really great job

Do not order uber eats from this restaurant. It was the worst and most over priced Thai food I have…read moreever eaten. Both the green curry chicken and pad kra pao were mainly undercooked potatoes, tough large pieces of cabbage, overcooked old fried tofu and very old dead beans. As far as i know massaman curry is the only dish that has potato in it. How can they justify charging $39 for a container full of undercooked potatoes, old tofu, sauce and a few bits of chicken. Did the restaurant think they could get away cooking such food as it was an uber eats delivery.??? So people do not order uber eats from this restaurant!!!!

If you are looking for a classy cocktail bar in a beautiful old building with lovely décor, this place has the goods. The interior decoration is unusual, but cool. Kind of a upmarket eclectic feel. Large arm chairs and vintage furniture, while having a modern touch and a weird seated area with a wall of stings. Kind of hard to explain. Nonetheless, it is also about the drinks. Great selection of spirits and cocktails. Extensive menu, you will struggle to choose. The cocktails are well priced and do use good quality spirits in the mixes. The bar staff are attentive and there is complete waiter service here. So, find a seat and they will look after you. The cocktails are really lovely, I had a Pink Grapefruit and Tequila cocktail. Very fresh and tasty. The rim of the glass was rolled in sugar which cut through the citrus. Lovely bar and I will return on a regular basis!

This place is tiny, and perhaps a bit of a hole-in-the-wall, but it is bright, cheerful, and clean…read more Ordering is straightforward; you go to the counter, read the menu, order, and pay. The cashier was helpful and friendly, explaining the different dishes. I ordered Chicken Laksa and the Pork Fried Rice- and a BEER! Most of these types of places don't have beer, but Honki Tonki does! I sat down, poured my beer, and within minutes, my soup arrived- piping hot and oh so good! The broth was perfect! I love Laksa, and it's hard to find in the US. My fried rice arrived- and, my god, this was some of the best fried rice I have ever had! So tasty, and such a great mix of ingredients. Again, it's not a fancy place, but the food is so good, so much so that I came here on my last night in Adelaide! Plus, it's open until 10 PM!

I love living in a town where there are literally dozens of awesome little hideyhole businesses…read moredoing great things. And this place is no exception. An amazing array of top quality, affordable lunch options with a bunch of banging sides to boot. Bonus points for the beautiful bounty of bevvies on offer too. Alliteration aside, I had a great lunch - bbq pork dry noodles with a side of pork dumplings. The dry noodles come laiden with a sprinkle of uber tasty minced pork. The quality of the food is fairly high - around the table we had, inter alia, an array of quail eggs, laksa and teriyaki chicken. Everybody seemed happy and well fed. The lovely folks at HT also stock their own line of delicious chilli oil at $7 a jar. Bargains galore! In fact, the true satisfaction test came 20 minutes after I walked out and realised I was feeling really full. A nice feeling when you drop $15 on a meal for lunch. Happy days. I popped the top on a lovely hills dry cider so my bill was bigger ($9 for a three oaks Adel hills cider) than a regular work lunch but today just happened to be one of those "treat yoself" sort of days. Glad I did. Honki Tonki. Get amongst it.
