Prince Room Chinese Restaurant - Chicken Noodle soup.

I realise now that for the past four or so years, I've been misnaming this restaurant - we've…read morealways known it as Princes Room. Regardless of the name, the food is just downright good here - the menu features all the favourites, chicken & cashew, beef & black bean sauce, honey king prawns, etc, but also some deeper dishes, kung po chicken (lashings of whole flamed chilli's) and kway teo (my favourite flat rice noodles with a thick black sauce) Decor is also classical chinese restaurant - huge fish tanks featuring gigantic goldfish swimming back and forth, red and gold trim abounds, and you can have a nice big table with a lazy susan to help share your dishes around. It's worth noting that even when the house is quite empty, there is a steady trade in takeaway - it's pretty clear Prince Room is one of the more popular chinese offerings in Campbelltown. Parking is a little tight on a busy night - there's off street parking out back, turn left just past the building, but it does get full and can be a pain to turn a big car around in - luckily the side streets aren't permit only like so many in the city, so you'll be able to park and take a stroll back. I love the food here - it's simple cuisine, but they do what they do so, so well. Crispy duck is full of flavour, and like it should be, crispy. Sizzling platters turn up sizzling like they should. Singapore noodles are rich and rewarding and the curry flavour doesn't overpower the dishes you eat them with. The batter on the honey king prawns is light and crisp and the honey is sweet and glossy again without being too much. Prince Room offers you a sample of exactly how chinese should be done - and the pricing reflects excellent value for food this good.

This is my new favourite Chinese restaurant. I've schemed and searched around Adelaide but…read morestruggled to find much quality around the eastern suburbs area. Prince Room is spacious and can seat a decent number of guests. The design and the fittings of this place may seem a tab bit dated, but they've done well with being decorative with pictures on the walls and ceiling hangings. I go here every so often. Once a month at least for dinner with a group. One of my favourite dishes is the satay chicken dish. The chicken always tastes fresh and not chewy and over-cooked, and the sauce is amazing. On the menu its described as spicy, but it's actually more so mild. I would also never go by the Lemon Chicken or Honey Chicken dish. They're served with crispy chicken breast drizzled with the perfectly done sauce. When banqueting with a group although, as well as ordering rice, ordering a side or 2 of steamed vegetables may be ideal as a lot of the dishes don't seem to come with vegetables. Apart from that never had a dismay dining at this charming Asian restaurant.

Our 'new' yum cha venue! Been here a couple of times now…read moreand the food had been consistently good for yum cha. Both Saturday lunch times we were here they had been busy. Best to book if you do not want to miss out. The restaurant had changed hands again recently and name change of course. Well located on Greenhill Road not far from the Trak cinema and Burnside Village. It has a little garden in the front and a spacious area on the side for outdoor dinning in warmer weather. There's a reasonable sized car park area at the back. Huge entrance door which opens to a foyer and a big dinning room across the width of the restaurant. Tables are well spaced and there's no moving trolleys bringing plates of yum cha dishes. Waiting staff walks trays of goodies around and you could order also by filling out the order sheet of your favourite yum cha dishes. Standard yum cha dishes are all on offer as well as choices of noodles dishes. I just love their sweet sesame balls filled with sesame paste. Their cute little tea pots add 'class' to the table. Waiting staff are friendly and seems to cater and look after the packed restaurant well. Water was frequently topped up into those tea pots which 'pour' very well. To conclude, the price is very reasonable. Best to go in a group and share your experience with your friends. Just a note, yum cha means you drink Chinese tea with those little morsels and not soft drinks.

The food was delicious, filling, original as well. There was certainly something unique about the food, but I can't put my finger on it. Secret ingredient? Doubtful, but I suppose every cook has their own special techniques. The staff are incredibly friendly and polite as well. All round fantastic Chinese food restaurant.

Located in a small group of shops along Payneham, it has very average signage, so slow down when approaching, otherwise you might miss it. The restaurant's interior is typically decorated with Chinese themed paintings of various genres, a terrible colour scheme and tacky Chinese ornaments throughout the space. Never one to be turned off by these places knowing we are here mainly for the food. We were warmly greeted by the only staff on the floor. We were offered drinks after giving us a few minutes to peruse the menu. We ordered jasmin tea, because they didn't have chrysanthemum tea. To our horror, in a Chinese restaurant, we never expected our tea to come from a teabag. First black mark for the night. We were super eager to get some meals delivered so quickly placed our order. These included chicken with tree mushrooms, crispy garlic spare pork ribs, fish hotpot and prawns coated in salty egg yolk. Other generic dishes included the jellyfish, hot and sour soup and garlic French beans (long beans to everyone else) with minced pork. Second black was awarded to the chicken and tree mushroom dish. From memory, the chicken meat used was thigh and not breast, explaining the dryness. Secondly, the lack of tree mushrooms was very much noticed and missed. Lastly the dish was too salty with hardly enough chillies. Moving on to the third black mark, that was given to the prawn dish. This dish has a heavy batter which was not what we remembered. They were heavy on the butter which destroyed the delicate balance of the saltiness of the egg versus the lightness of the prawns. Other than those dishes mentioned, everything else was good. The price increase has been noted, so is the lack of ambience. This restaurant has changed owners since our last visit and its success is reflected in the lack of diners present. A real shame, as this used to be one of our top five for Chinese cuisine in Radelaide. We might go back in a few month's time to see if any improvement has been made.
