The store apparently is closed. I heard great things. Web site still up, so confusing at best.

A unique and comfortable environment for browsing a plentifully stocked collection of well-curated…read morerecords. Its a wonder I didn't spend several hours in this store looking through a diverse selection of popular and obscure music, as I certainly could have with ease. I didn't make any purchases during my visit, as I recalled many prices I have seen online being cheaper than those marked on items in this particular store, however I enjoyed the well-decorated, authentic atmosphere created within the small space. I would recommend a visit to Underground Music to anyone interested in acquiring a few new additions to their record collection.

I spent just over $100 on 5 used records today and I'm unhappy with what I bought. I'd return these…read morebut I'm leaving town early in the morning. Of the five albums I bought, three were layered in dust and strands of human hair. Another three had felt marker or bic pen writing on the sleeve or on the album label. Why do you put price tags on the sleeve? I paid $30 for a great Queen album that now has a fade mark left where the tag was (photo attached). Another had a price tag over-top a gash on the cover, making it impossible to see until you take the tag off (photo attached)... shady! Spent $35 on a hard to find album, only to find the vinyl loose in the sleeve - put it in an anti-static sleeve! They cost pennies! Emails sent to the business get bounced back. I enjoy buying records at cities I visit, unfortunately I can't come back if this is the quality I can expect.

Wow. This is QUITE…read morethe store. If you love books, this is a must-visit. If you like books, this is a should-visit. Either way, prepare to get lost in the aisles and prepare to spend a LOT of time here. And I mean A LOT. I really liked how well organized this store is. For all its thousands of books, each section is clearly marked, with excellent signage. While I wandered, my kid read an entire Oliver Sachs book (it was a short memoir). I found some killer coffee table art books. One in particular was a stunner, and oh so big, with incredible color plates (it was on photorealism, and was an impressive tome). The inner flap showed it originally sold for $125. The price here was $50. So....not for nothing, despite being a used book. But substantially less than when it was new. FYI. There's a huge section on popular novels and classic literature, both softcover and hard cover. I am certain these are much more reasonably priced. From the banter I heard between the cashier and some customers, I gather that a lot of regular locals shop here, and they are very familiar with the employees. I like that feel, of a local shop where they know their neighbors. This is a mesmerizing store, and a place you can get lost in - in the best way imaginable!

I visited there just to browse and came out with three great books; they have vintage, current, history, sci fi, comics etc etc etc! it's a huge space and all full of great finds! if you can't find it there it probably doesn't exist lol! I will be back and appreciate great places like these still existing!! The place was neatly divided into sections and the assortment in each was spectacular!! highly recommend

My first experience at Barnacle records was great! The owner was super knowledgeable and welcoming…read more In conversation he was able to glean the type of new record player I just ordered and give me a valuable insight about the pros of upgrading to one with a counterweight adjustment arm to minimize the long term damage a non-adjustable arm can possibly do over time if it's pressure is too much. He educated me on a key consideration for my 1st record player without being condescending and he recommended considering the next model up in the line. I went home, took on his advice, and exchanged my order for one with the adjustment dial. Now I have the opportunity to preserve the longevity of my records. I felt the owner just wanted his customers to be happy and have a great experience at thier shop; for these reasons I'll keep going back.

The store seems like it's new, well laid out and clearly displayed. Thankfully the place was clean…read moreand relatively dust free, didn't feel like you were thumbing through in a dank ass basement. Selection was concise and geared towards varied (and sub) genres of rock, punk and metal. Found some choice pieces but definitely left a few in the rack, could have easily spent double of triple what I had budgeted for. Had a feel like a local distro, good 7" selection and frankly, some amazing sales on quality vinyl. They had a smaller selection of compact-discs and some cassette tapes. Worth stopping in for sure
