My dog has been going to Dogtopia for over 5 years. My daughter's dog went there for a long time as well until she moved. Between the two of us we have spent many thousands of dollars at Dogtopia. Unfortunately the level of expertise and customer service at this facility have deteriorated significantly and we will not be back. This afternoon at 5 pm I received a call from Dogtopia notifying me that my standard poodle Dalton had been bitten at their facility this morning. Apparently the counselors that were aware of the bite did not notify management so no one called me when the event occurred. Had they called I would immediately have picked him up and taken him to his regular vet. Since they didn't I have now been sitting at an emergency vet facility for over two hours waiting for him to be seen. Not to mention the fact that he spent an entire day in an unsanitary environment with an open puncture wound. When I inquired whether Dogtopia would reimburse me for the vet bill the answer was I'd need to call their customer service department at corporate and it's handled on a 'case basis'. Unbelievable. Here's the kicker. Since I've been here at the vet I received notice that Dogtopia put through a charge for an entire day of daycare today! When I called to discuss this the person who answered the phone didn't seem to know anything about what had happened. Once upon a time everyone at Dogtopia would have known a dog had been bitten and would have done everything possible to make it right. No calling corporate and no hassle. Now they don't even tell one another about it and they don't have authority locally to waive a daycare charge. It really saddens me to write this review, but this is not the business it once was and I can't recommend it. Footnote: this review is regarding Dogtopia Scottsdale Raintree. Our doodle, Wrigley, LOVES dogtopia. He goes twice a week and plays in the toy box even though he's 45 pounds, he's a big scaredy-cat of the big dogs. I love being able to check in on him with the webcams and see how he plays with the other dogs. In the beginning, Wrigley was a little Overwhelmed with all the play but now thoroughly enjoys going. He even knows the word "dogtopia" and gets so excited when he hears it! The people are very kind and make sure Wrigley is well taken care and has a blast each time. He comes home, eats dinner and sleeps until the next day. He's even relaxed the next day when he's not at dogtopia. They really care about the animals. To give you an idea, the first day we dropped him off he was in the play pen with dogs his same size. They saw he was anxious (since he's used to playing with small dogs) and called me right away and told me he was going to go in the toy box. He was much more comfortable there. It just goes to show they are paying attention to each dog and how they are feeling. They gained my trust big time! We are excited to try boarding services this thanksgiving. This place used to be great. I don't know what happened. I arrived to pick up my dog a day early, and when they brought out his blankets and such, they also brought out his completely empty food bowls. Then, once they brought out my dog, I noticed that his paws were damp and had what looked like urine on his paws. It didn't look like he had been brushed at all in the five days he had been there, and his hair was matted. So I pressed about the food bowls: "what has he been eating?", "why would you not have called me if he ran out of food?", and one of the customer service agents went back to investigate. A few minutes later, she reappeared, after filling his bowl 1/4 of the way with what she claimed was his food. She said, "no problem, it was prepped for breakfast tomorrow, here's the rest." Except when I opened the bowl, it was definitely not his food. Not even close. I'm absolutely disgusted that the staff could not own up to this, and instead blatantly lied to me, perhaps in hopes that I wouldn't notice? What a disgrace. I will never take my dog here again, and you shouldn't either. If they lie about that, what else are they lying about? Shame on you, Dogtopia. No apology from customer service to even try to make this right. read more

Me (& my dog Jojo!) LOVE Dogtopia. One of the main things I look for in a dog care center for Jojo is how much she can play while at daycare. She is half cattle dog, so she is definitely a working breed, so when I take her to daycare I want her to come back EXHAUSTED. At Dogtopia, Jojo literally plays all day (with the exception of nap time) and comes back so tired - it's AMAZING. She usually has to rest for an entire day after to fully recover. My rating may go up or down depending on how my dog's condition changes over the next couple of days. Don't be fooled by the aesthetics of this place. Somewhat underwhelmed that not very inch of the facility isn't under a camera's eye, especially when there's a chunk of my dog's snout missing that was chalked up as a "scratch" from the kennel until I picked him up and saw the injury for myself. And then once we arrived home, we immediately noticed a significant large puncture wound on my dog's hip (far larger than a bite wound) and now he's continuously vomiting. When we called to alert them that there's an issue, it was immediately marginalized. If it were my business, I would be looking through video and asking employees about what could have caused this. It's a trust issue for me, and this place hasn't done much for that. I would not recommend this place. read more

STAY AWAY! Where do I start.. Long story short.. they pulled a bait and switch, our dog got hurt there and they never told us, and they've stolen money from us by overcharging and going on 60 days and no refund.. then did it again. Staff is laughably incoherent and incredibly frustrating to deal with. Full story: When we toured the place they offered us a deal where both of our dogs can get unlimited service for the price of one.. and we instantly cancelled the rest of the daycare tours and went with them cause that deal is unbeatable. They then would keep charging us for the other dog even though THEY OFFERED US THE DEAL, we never asked for it, but they still kept overcharging us. We've had to go back for a couple refunds and that is the worst process.They will give you a receipt for the refund then next thing we know it was store credit. The most recent event: We got overcharged on June 30th and have gotten 2 separate receipts for the refund yet it ended up being store credit so when we went in a couple days ago they said.. oh it doesn't go on the card (yes it does cause our last one did) and offered to mail us a check.. and i agreed cause what else can we do at this point.. it's clear they don't communicate nor have a clue what they're doing.. THEN.. this is the best part.. THEY DID IT AGAIN. THEY OVERCHARGED US AGAIN. now we have to do another fight for another refund even though we are still waiting for the one from almost 60 days ago. They also took away the deal they promised us.. so classic bait and switch. Our dog got attacked one day too and had clear cuts in his nose but we didn't realize till on the way home and had to call them to get the info.. so they didn't let us know what was going on.. incompetent staff beyond belief. This place was supposed to be a great opportunity for our dogs to socialize and get out more and this place and it's staff have been nothing but irresponsible, incompetent, and incredibly difficult to work with. We love taking our dog to Dogtopia! Being able to watching her on the doggy cams running around and having fun with all of her new furry friends is such a fun feature. They even send her home with a lil report card noting behavior, how much of her food she ate, any new friends she made, and it even includes cute pictures of her! It's a clean and safe and we have always had a good experience with Brett and his staff. Although it's a bit pricey, it's worth it for the care out dog receives and will continue to be our go to place for daycare/boarding. read more

My dog Specks had SO much fun at dogtopia yesterday! How do I know this? I couldn't stop watching her on the live webcam! Haha! She was so cute playing with all the other dogs and looked like she was having a blast. It's been too hot during this summer to take her to the park or on long walks and my other dog is an 8 yr old yorkie who doesn't like to play so I am so happy I found an outlet for Specks so she can play with other puppies. She was SO sleepy after which made for an easy night! I also was able to have her nails trimmed during her daycare, the groomer was very knowledgeable and sweet. After over a year being a client of this business I can say without question, things have changed. Since promoting the original General manager to a corporate position it's been a decline. They are incredibly understaffed and when missed steps occur the staff and GM are quick to tell you as much. I've had a few situations over the past year or so that were brought to their attention and resolved. On a recent visit I picked up my dog and within a few minutes of being in the car I could smell pee. I checked him out and he had sat in urine. I called and spoke to the receptionist and she was kind and understanding and even quoted their policy which is that they clean up your dog when this happens. She said she would have the GM call me. When she did she left a message basically telling me I needed to consider a grooming schedule and hung up. Or so she thought.... I got to listen to her talk crap about me and say things about my expectations being ridiculous etc... all while she thought she'd hung up, my voicemail recorded the whole thing. I returned her call and kept cool over the voicemail while I heard her out as to resolution. She claimed to have gotten a different story from the receptionist and agreed with me that my dog didn't need a grooming schedule and she would provide a bath for the trouble. I assumed this would be on credit for me to use when needed. I obviously didn't let my dog lay around all weekend in pee and bathed him after the incident. So, I take my dog to daycare a few days later. Upon picking him up I'm told he's just finishing getting a bath. Yes, I was pissed. I never asked for it, he didn't need it and I never gave a pickup time so they had no idea what time I'd be there to get him. The GM flat out lied! She stated I told the receptionist I wanted him bathed and got mad at me stating she just gave my dog a $75.00 bath and I don't even appreciate it. She continued to berate me about my complaint and of course threw out the fact that they're understaffed. Over the next few days I gave it some thought and emailed the GM and basically said let's hit the reset. We all have bad days and I'd had a rough day too so let's just agree to move on. No response! The next day on my way to work I went to drop my dog off anyway. Upon trying to check in I was told we weren't welcome there anymore! So I called the corporate office. This was a waste of time. This company's policy is to circumvent issues by firing clients instead of recognizing the issues within the management itself. If you can't keep employees, look at their leader! I took the time to write this for other dog owners and the franchise owners to be aware of how this situation was truly handled. read more

The Staff at Dogtopia have been nothing but friendly and understanding, and it has really helped socialize her in an environment in which she feels very loved and comfortable. Dogtopia is the best boarding/daycare I have ever used for my pup. When we went for our meet and greet they had my dogs name a welcome sign and the entire staff were very friendly!! I went outta town for a week and I dropped my dog off and was not worried one bit about him there because they have webcams so you can watch your dog all day long!!! They also do a lot of cool events for the pups (Halloween costume party, homemade healthy treats, etc). Also a real benefit of going to dogtopia is that when I pick up my pup from a day of play he's always tired and ready to cuddle and sleep. In 2015, while on vacation, my first puppy-child "Massi" was killed while in the care of a privately owned dog-boarding business (NOT Dogtopia to be very clear). I now have his two siblings "Chico" and "Maya" who are also my puppy-children. You can imagine my EXTREME anxiety trying to find a place for them to stay while we go on our upcoming June vacation (I had been recently using in-home care but we moved). I was NOT LIKING what I was finding online... I actually had them booked at a popular old town Scottsdale boutique dog hotel but wasn't feeling good about it after their "test visit" bc there was only one attendant and way too many dogs, one dog was limping, there was poop all over the floor. One room was featured as having "natural light" are you kidding me?? the sun was beating down in there! NO WAY! I left them for the required 20 minutes and went back to get them even though they were invited to stay half the day. I was freaking out thinking I'll never find a place... ***So I kept searching and found DOGTOPIA!!*** I cannot say enough, how much I appreciate Paula and the time she took with me on our tour of the facility! And that's the thing, they show you the entire building practically! Fully transparent! (Which was what a lot of reviews complained about regarding other facilities around town!) She explained how safety is their top priority as well as their "systems" for ensuring each dog is cared for individually. There's an entire TEAM on hand, each with specific responsibilities. She explained that even the cleaning products they use are not toxic to dogs (her own dog was there playing, that speaks volumes). They get to go outside for 20 mins each hour (I believe) and there are misters and covers to ensure the dogs are kept cool (my shih tzus overheat in anything over 85 degrees so that was a huge concern for me at first but she eased my worries). There's also a WEBCAM! And Chico and Maya will be able to share a "suite" together. For feeding they have specific bins & clipboards with any details regarding their diet (I plan on sending them with their own food/treats pre-portioned) and you can bring their own bed from home if you wish. I cannot say how much "peace of mind" I have now with my choice for my babies while were gone. I truly followed my gut and I'm glad I did. Dogtopia is the ONLY good doggie daycare in this area! After I moved here I refused to take my pup to any daycares as they all did not meet our standards. Once Dogtopia opened I took my baby just about everyday and it was the best experience! They always welcomed us with open arms, everyone got to know Presley and I could watch her on the cameras all day! I wish I could still continue to take my pups as my only complaint is drop off is 7am, which is when I need to be at work. Re: Scottsdale location. Very unprofessional. Company called and canceled an hour before my scheduled Meet and Greet that I scheduled ten days prior. I was told it would be a "major complication" for them to keep my scheduled appointment because they are short staffed today. I am out of state and my husband took off from work for this appointment. We also intended to have our dog in daycare over the course of the next week and beyond and now can't get our dog booked elsewhere for the week because of the short notice. I told Dogtopia/Scottsdale that I would need to call back to determine when/if my husband could commit to a different time. Now when I call back, it appears they set their phone to not take calls for the day, so every time I call the phone hangs up. Concerning that they can't take calls and don't have staff to watch the dogs to fulfill a scheduled Meet and Greet....terrible service and makes me question the care of the dogs..... read more

This place is truly a 5-star facility with a good staff. The website makes everything easy and I love the live webcam to check in my dog. My Issue is with two of the staff members. One being the franchise manager who does the evaluations. I talked with her about my concerns after I dropped my dog off for a full day and she dismissed everything and blamed my dog, she also swept my complaint under the rug. The other staff member is one of the "Trainers". I told the franchise manager that the trainer was inattentive and moved with no urgency. After that experience I was done with this place but had to go back because I needed a dog watcher fast for an emergency and they did good and had more staff. Today the same girl was back in the room, and it is just as bad, I watched a dog get mounted for a good amount of time before she even noticed and multiple dogs bullying another dog, still nothing. What really made me upset was I watched her slowly walk over after my dog was mounted and pulled him off then another dog mounted seconds later, and I kid you not she just stood there and watched it happen till the dog got off. That same dog proceeded to try and corner my dog and harass my dog by barking at him the whole time while he was trying to get away and she didn't do anything. I have everything recorded if Yelp would let me attach them I would. By the time I was wrapping up at work and getting ready to go get my dog I checked in on him and it was just sad to watch. They opened the door to go back inside and he got scared by the other dogs and ran to the corner. The new trainer in the room showed him some attention and got him inside but he booked it to the corner again. That is not like my dog, he is very sociable and loves to be around other dogs and people 24/7. The reviews that say "my dog was attached, and no one told me" are most likely true if they have other employees like this. I urge Dogtopia to watch the tapes and put more than one person in a room or at least people who want to be in the room and don't walk around like it hurts them to be at work. The $45 is not worth what they have provided with the two staff members and is just sad since most people view their dog as a part of the family. read more

From day one every member of staff has been friendly and professional. I went on the "meet and greet" initial visit and they assessed each of my then 7 month old golden retrievers. They gave me a tour of the facility and it was unbelievably clean and well run. They both passed the assessment and were invited to stay the rest of the day. They came back EXHAUSTED!!! I was one happy "puppy mom". From then they go at least once a week and I am glad to watch them on their live webcams and see how much they are having a good time. I am an over-the-too "Dog Mom" and genuinely felt anxious dropping my Lilly off for her first day of daycare- but knew we had to try it. All of worries were put to ease by the great staff and the awesome web cam system they have set up. There was an in-depth evaluation meeting with my dog and before I even left they already knew she was going to be a successful match for their daycare! She ended up being there all day and I was able to log into my work computer and watch her play or nap on the webcam! Lilly made a few friends and slept like a rock that night! Dogtopia is the worst for grooming. I have a 5 month old chow, and we told the lady not to cut any hair whatsoever, just bath him, and give him a sanitary trim only in his private area. However, when we picked him up and went home that day, we noticed a big patch on his back just a random one big patch on his back like a square taken off by the razor. The lady had known not to touch anything. And because he is a chow it wont ever grow back. I want to share this with you guys because I don't want anything like this to happen to ur dogs. They are also liars, and worst grooming ever. When we talked to them about it, they lied and had sad that the lady never touched his back, which obviously she had. If i could go back, I would not have brought my puppy here, and you shouldn't either. read more

Highly highly reccomend Dogtopia raintree!!! Their employees are very well trained to watch your dog! I was very skeptical on bringing my Shepard lab mix in, seeing on how she is very leash aggressive and protective of me when walking her but she did amazing! Its like she is a different dog when she goes to daycare. The staff is just amazing and know the signs to watch before any altercation ever could occur. They have separate rooms for big dogs, high energy dogs and small dogs which assures your dog is safe to play with similar dogs. I love dogtopia and would never go anywhere else! read more

I am visiting from out of town and go to Dogtopia at home. When I saw there was one in Scottsdale, I called them and emailed them, but I still have not heard back from anyone. It has been 48 hours. I know most companies (including my own) have a 24 hour callback policy. It is really too bad that no one can respond to a voice message or even email in order to get another customer. We are here for two weeks and I did plan to drop off my dog at least four times while we are here. Shame on you Dogtopia! To make me get in my car and drive there personally is just rude given the heat. At this point I wouldn't want to give you my business anyway. read more

At first glance, this pet boarding is small, i mean its located in a shopping center. The inside looks small and first impression of receptionists was not good. They barely said hello, took a few good seconds to look at me before they gave me an unenthusiastic hello. They could barely assist me because it was nap time. Like, what kind of place has nap times for dogs. I thought it was strange. The staff seems to always have to ask permission or verify things with the manager and I know from my experience, that means he's probably controlling and rude. I did end up speaking with him and just as i thought, he was pretty rude. These kind of first impressions definitely show me to never bring my dog here. read more

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!!! Our fur-baby Beau loves this place. He gets so excited to go play with his new friends. My favorite part is the Web-Cams. I can check in on Beau from anywhere at anytime.
