We take our Boxer Booker to Always Unleashed for daycare and for boarding. He loves it there! He gets so excited when we pull in and can't wait to run out to the yard and play. We can hardly get his leash off, he's so eager to see friends. We love the live cameras in the yard and inside the hound lounge. It's so nice to be able to check on our fur baby and see what he is up to! One of the main reasons we love Always Unleashed is not only the live cameras, but they are "always unleashed!" They don't kennel the dogs. They all hang out together outside and inside. All the dogs seem calm because they don't have the pent up anxiety of being in a kennel outside of their home. They aren't barking all the time and agitated. They are hanging together as a group. The outside has a ton of misters and a large pool for the pups. They have lots of room to play. Our dog Booker has made friends with other dogs and it's so fun to see him playing and happy. He was boarded over his birthday this past year and they gave him special treats and extra attention. They sent us pictures and videos. They are currently under renovation, redoing the front office check-in space. It will be nice when it's all completed, but it's been nice they have stayed open during the renovation. This summer our flight was delayed flying home from Chicago and Shea was great letting us pick up Booker a little later. We didn't want to wait another day to see our baby! Another time we were stuck on the 17 in traffic because of an accident coming home from Flagstaff. They understand how important our fur baby is to us! Another time Booker got a hot spot on his paw and they were on the phone with me about it and how I wanted it treated. Then after he was home Shea followed up with me to see how he was doing. Booker always comes home happy and tired. Always Unleashed is a great place for day care or boarding, highly recommend. read more

It has been over 2 years since I initially reviewed AU, & we still, exclusively, use Alicia to meet our dogs' grooming needs. Pricing for a full groom is great (especially for what one may expect to pay in north Scottsdale), & Alicia's grooms are stunning to the extent that we've received widespread compliments (everyone from complete strangers to our veterinarian). Thank you, Alicia, for your dedication, consistency, & for your forever flawless work. As a bonus, being groomed at AU means our standard poodles have the opportunity to enjoy playing in daycare (bounding on bridges, running through tunnels, interacting with other friendly pups, etc.) as they await their grooming appointments. Speaking of daycare, we continue to regularly treat our two dogs to "playing with friends." When our dogs hear the phrase, "play with friends," it is time to go to AU, and both greet us at the door of our vehicle with overwhelming enthusiasm & excitement. Additionally, we board our dogs at AU whenever we go out of town. The length of stay varies. It can be as brief as a weekend, or, occasionally, their stay(s) have been slightly longer. This year, for the first time, we allowed our dogs to stay a full week during spring break. I intentionally voice it that way, "allowed them to stay," because our pups are on vacation too! While under the care and supervision of AU "RUFFerees," the dogs are treated to "ball play" time daily as well as to private "snuggle & cuddle" time. While we are away, we receive daily updates including, but not limited to, photos & videos with a description of each activity, how much the dogs are enjoying themselves, etc. It is clear they are surrounded by love parallel to that they would receive at home. Though I appreciate the availability of Always Unleashed webcams, I have, personally, never utilized the cameras as I trust them implicitly. In late May of this year, I had a significant facial surgery during which my poodles were being cared for by/at AU. I experienced complications that would have made it extraordinarily difficult to bring the dogs home on the date originally scheduled. After receiving a frantic call from my caregiver, without batting an eye, AU staff extended their stay over MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. Though this extension of my dogs' stay was neither anticipated nor scheduled, & happened to occur during one of their busiest times, in this emergency situation, Always Unleashed welcomed our dogs to stay longer with open arms. AU actions, in this instance, go beyond exceptional service. Their impactful rescue in my time of genuine need was deep and meaningful ... A testament to the quality of the owners' characters. I don't know what I would have done had they not been willing to accommodate our request. I mentioned it in my original review, but I want to stress again the friendly/accommodating nature of the staff. They present with welcoming smiles, and they are always willing to go above & beyond the call of duty to assist us during drop offs & pickups. It is a blessing & always a pleasant exchange. When one of my dogs was hit by a car, we were greeted w/empathy. Within a month of that incident, our other dog had a different issue which put him in intensive care for multiple days, and we received the same level of genuine compassion & concern. In addition to taking great care of clients' dogs, one really gets a sense that AU not only values a person's business, but, also, AU values their clients as people ... as the unique, individuals we are. We are not perfect. We know that, & so do the kind folks of AU, but, even so, through all life's uncertainties, through our shared joys, during our peaks & the pits, and in the midst of chaos, Always Unleashed has supported us. The AU family accepts us in any condition & under any circumstance. (It truly reminds me of the unconditional love offered by one's own dog.) As I write, tears begin to trickle down my cheeks. This, an involuntary physical expression of the profound gratitude I feel for these authentic, kind, sincere individuals, the classy, clean facility they staff, & for the enduring love, care, and stellar service they have offered our family/provided our pets. The clients of Always Unleashed FEEL valued, they KNOW their pets are safe, & they BELIEVE, with complete certainty, their dogs are having a blast in the best environment possible. So, if you are reading this review because you are "on the fence" in deciding to whom you should entrust the care of your precious fur babies, I encourage you to give AU a try. I've boarded my dog at this facility for years without issue, but my most recent experience was troubling enough that I won't be returning. I boarded my dog for a week after the 4th of July. I called twice during my trip to check in and was told he was "doing fine" -- just being shy and laying in the shade. When I picked him up, he was happy to see me, but I quickly became concerned. I had to request his food, and noticed that most of it had not been eaten. Based on the pre-portioned bags I packed, he ate about 4 days worth over the entire week. I asked about this, and the staff told me he had been eating, but that didn't match what I saw. I also asked about his medication, which requires food to be properly absorbed, and was initially told it had been given, but later shown a chart that indicated otherwise. When I brought him home, he had diarrhea, was very lethargic, and became concerningly dehydrated enough that I had to take him to the emergency vet and then to our regular vet for additional care. Based on what the vet told me, it's possible his condition was related to not eating and/or receiving enough water. I shared this concern with the facility. In my opinion, this facility may not be equipped to provide the level of care required for dogs who need medication, close monitoring, or individualized attention. Based on my experience, there appeared to be gaps in communication and follow-through that raised significant concerns. As a result, I no longer feel confident entrusting them with my dog's care. read more

As always, Burt and Sally were very excited to arrive and play in the pool and landscape. They enjoy playing with all their good natured friends and are always ready for nap when they come home. Recently, they stayed for 8 days/nights and were groomed. The webcams are great. You can check in on your kids 24/7 and there is constant supervision which eliminates many concerns of overnight stays. The grooming and nail trim was top notch. Boarding, Training and Grooming We have had such a wonderful experience over the last year when needing to board and groom our two dogs. Everyone is happy and they all clearly love dogs. I have a 14lb dog that goes to Tiny Town and a big dog that goes in the main boarding/play area. My dogs come home happy, healthy and tired every time from all the fun! Grooming: we started getting the dogs groomed at the end of their stay, and it is the best grooming either of them have had over the 11 years I have owned my smaller dog. The groomer is very skilled and loving. They come back beautiful every time! Training!! My larger dog is just one year old, he's 60lbs and it was growing difficult to walk him - he was wild on the leash and chased after everything. I was introduced to their trainer, Mike, and after a consult, which was so impressive, we decided to try training over our holiday boarding (which makes it a screaming deal compared to other trainers I researched in the Valley). Dasher is a NEW dog on a leash and at home, in just 8 days, it has been a game changer. Mike also came to our home to help me refine a few things and there will be a few follow up sessions. Mike is professional and connected with Dasher easily. We are so grateful - it was worth every penny!! I highly recommend Always Unleashed for all these services.
