Winston was boarded at dogtopia for 11 days while I was in Europe and in a pinch to find a sitter. He's only ever been boarded once in his 8 years of life so I was very nervous. Some staff members vs others will give you a more comprehensive update about what's going on. I was very thankful that when Winston was experiencing an episode of loose stool that they had given him some pumpkin and asked for my permission to give him rice or chicken to help bulk it up. They also gave him some extra cuddles before bedtime, which I was appreciative of. Was not sure if you had any outdoor time which sort of concern me and of course Winston kept hiding in the corner, an area of the camera cuts off, so I wasn't always able to fully see him. When we picked up Winston, he was very tired like some of these reviews say but that is normal considering he probably was on guard as he is in an unfamiliar environment and around other dogs being social, but he was alive, well and not sick and that is truly all you can ask for. Very unprofessional. There's too many dogs in one room with one staff. They were abusive to our puppy and locked him in crate for hours at a time. He's a very sweet active little boy. Their pricing is predatory and sneaky. No one knows what they're doing. read more

My dog was bit in the neck and needed to be sutured. The vet said it was a tearing puncture wound but luckily wasn't deep. An employee at the facil stated to me this was the third time this particular dog had bitten another dog and now was going to be banned. I find it unacceptable that a dog that has bitten before in The facility is allowed to stay. read more

Save your money and take your dogs somewhere else. We boarded our dog here while we were away, and up until we picked him up everything seemed to be going great. On the webcams he seemed to be playing and happy. When we picked him up we asked for his bed and his blanket that we sent him with, and the employee did not know which was our dogs. He brought out the wrong bed and blanket first, and then after a couple minutes of searching he came with our dogs stuff and said "we weren't sure who's stuff this was, and attached was a piece of tape with our dogs name and a question mark". You would think maybe a phone call to ask if this stuff was his would have been appropriate. We brought these things so he would feel more comfortable in a new environment. The ride home was worrisome since he slept the entire way, but we figured after playing for 9 days he was just getting some well earned rest. It wasn't until the next day we noticed changes, he slept all day, was having trouble breathing and had a concerning amount of mucus built up in his eyes. After taking him to the vet we found out he had kennel cough. Things like this happen and was honestly not a concern or something we even blamed Dogtopia for, with so many dogs you can only mitigate illness so much. The issue and the reason for this 1 star review is that when we called to inform them our dog is sick and that potentially other dogs may have gotten sick, we were told that there's no way he could have gotten it from there since no dog has ever gotten sick there. They continued to tell us things like "maybe he came here sick". Our dog was there for 9 days, so by their logic, if he came there sick, why didn't we get a phone call the first few days? Then we were told "it must have been the other dogs in your home that gave it to him". To that point, the other dogs were not boarded anywhere and were watched by a friend while we were away since they are older and don't require as much oversight. Dogtopia has the worst customer service I have ever seen in any establishment. They lack accountability and waisted no time to immediately throw the blame towards us. When you take your pet somewhere, overall care about your pets health, well-being, and happiness should be the main priority, and this place showed they do not care about these things as long as they get their heavily overpriced fee. Save your money and go somewhere else, there are so many places that cost less and provide better and cleaner services. read more

Unfortunately I do not having many, if any, kind things to say about my experience. My dog stayed at Dogtopia for 9 days, during his stay he was never provided with his bed or blanket that we left with him at drop off. I know this because at pickup the incorrect items were brought out to us, after saying that was the wrong stuff the correct stuff was brought out and we were told "oh we didn't know who this belonged to" and it had a piece of tape on it with DogName???. They could have called us and asked what his items looked like. When picking him up, he was standoffish and exhausted but we chalked it up to him playing more than he typically does for 9 days. He fell asleep immediately when he got into the car, woke up to walk in the house, and stayed asleep until the next morning. He woke up the next day with a runny nose and goopy eyes. Our dog continued to be exhausted for the next 48 hours, including the other symptoms of runny nose and goopy eyes. Finally came the labored breathing, cough, and reverse cough. We took our pup to the vet where he was prescribed antibiotics to treat kennel cough. After our dog being home and sick for 3 days, the two other dogs from the household started showing the same symptoms and got brought into the vet to be treated. They were also diagnosed with kennel cough. After getting a diagnosis, I called Dogtopia to let them know that our dog that stayed with them has been diagnosed with kennel cough so they could inform other dogs that he was in contact with. Of course a sick dog is upsetting, but things happen you cannot avoid all illnesses its just like kids getting sick at school! Besides being sick, he is extremely skiddish and standoffish since returning home from his boarding stay. Prior to his stay he was active and outgoing. They reply we got is why this review is SO negative. The managers and owner BOTH told us on various phone calls that "No dog has ever gotten sick from our establishment", "Your dog was probably sick before he came", "Your other dogs probably got him sick" etc. There was little to no care about how our dog was/is doing, there was a strong refusal to cover our vet bill, and just a complete denial for any responsibility. I will never recommend Dogtopia to anyone for the lack of compassion or accountability. read more

I was thoroughly disappointed with this establishment. On our tour we were not allowed to see the outdoor area for the dogs and were told the camera was broken there (not sure why we couldn't just walk back there). They said the dogs only go out there on nice days, it was a beautiful day and all the dogs were in a small room together inside. In this indoor room the dogs pee and poop all over the floor while someone walks around with a wet mop. For 200$ a week I'd expect my dog to at least go outside daily. read more

Our pup LOVES it here. They are so accommodating and there's always someone in the room watching over the pups and playing with them. The facility is very clean. Our picky girl doesn't even look back when we drop her off! And in addition to the webcams they send pictures! I was initially drawn to Dogtopia for its camera access and cleanliness. We went in for a Meet in Greet at 10:30 finished at 11 and decided to let her stay. Not even two hours later, I receive a phone call that my dog was injured during "rough play." She had a deep puncture wound that warranted an ER visit. Upon further questioning, I found out no one was supervising the room. It wasn't until she was bleeding that they realized what had happened and looked through footage and declared it "not a attack, rather rough play." When a new dog is introduced to the group more supervision would be necessary to avoid things like this. From the beginning, I was not able to access to the cameras. I called multiple times to make them aware of the error message I kept getting when trying to login- that was never resolved. They will not provide the footage or pay for the vet bill. I left the place with my poor dog traumatized and with hundreds of dollars in vet bills. Of note, she's been to other daycares and always goes to dog parks without any issues. I do appreciate the honestly of them calling me to tell me, calling me to check on Chai while she was in the ER and not having to pay for the meet and greet fee. I would not be bringing Chai back due to safety concerns and lack of supervision. Considering this is one of the more expensive day cares, I expected more. read more

First time here today. Staff was friendly but disconnected. Our dog was brought to a private room for an evaluation but did not explain details of what that was except that he was ok with the "low energy" dog part, but we were told he "went after" the high energy dog in the evaluation. To me that raised concerns that he did not feel safe with the evaluator. The most awkward part was they started giving us a tour of the facility and when the evaluator came out they told us what happened, the tour guide stopped mid sentence and both stared at us awkwardly in silence, leaving us to take our dog shamefully and attempt to find the exit out. We received a passive aggressive awkward email afterwards which stated that "it's not you it's me" which further prompted me to write this review. Our dog is around strangers, dogs, and goes to dog parks frequently. We brought him to the dog park afterwards and he did great. I guess in dogtopias case, the only thing they got right is it was them, not him. They didn't even attempt to get to know him. Overall Staff needs help learning how to break up with people and needs to provide more constructive feedback after evaluations. read more

On July 1st we decided to take my two dogs to bathe at about 9:00 am to this place and the girl who received them said that if we wanted to leave them all day to see how they were doing and we said yes, it is supposedly a place for professionals. They told us to pick them up before seven and so it was, we arrived at 6:30 pm and a boy came out and told us that they had not had time to bathe the two of them; only one however the one they managed to bathe came out smelling bad and soaking wet, both the dogs came out acting strange and distance without receiving anything, but I think my dogs were mistreated and poorly fed, so I don't recommend this place at all. read more

My two dogs had a 11 day stay in with Dogtopia Bethpage, and we were very disappointed with their stay and some of the care they received. I feel like they are not all properly trained to handle various situations. While we did have good experiences with some of the staff, it was not consistent. Towards the end of their stay my Frenchton had to be taken to the vet by the staff because of an injury. He was placed on antibiotics by our vet due to a lesion on the top of his head. He also lost a nail and he had scratches, on the side of his body and leg. I am extremely upset about how this stay with my dogs was handled. We should have been contacted immediately when the problems were observed. No-one should have to deal with picking up their dog from any boarding company, and finding that the dog is all bruised as he was. Just be aware this experience was definitely, not a good one. I would never take then back to Dogtopia in Bethpage again. read more
