They have recently renamed to Barks and Wildlife Retreat, but the great service and friendly staff remains the same. I love my senior dog Bryn like my child and she is very particular with who/what she likes, however I never have to worry when I drop her off for extended boarding and they take very good care of her. They have gone a great job at giving her medication, vitamins, and one-on-one playtime, since she's a feisty girl that doesn't like other big dogs. I have boarded her at this location countless times over the years and she actually really gets excited when arriving. For added peace of mind, all of the suites come with cameras at no extra cost, that can be accessed through an app so that you can check in on your fur baby at any time while you're away. They also do a fantastic job at sending me photos of her during playtime so I never question whether she's getting individualized attention. The staff will gladly give new owners a tour when visiting for the first time, and likewise allow pet owners to walk their dogs in to the suites when dropping off for boarding to ensure pets are comfortable and know how to use the doggy doors. Overall, I feel you get what you pay for at this location given other locations will nickel and dime you for playtime, cameras, AC controlled kennels, medication administration, or have restrictions on bringing in personal items. I am able to bring her big comfy bed for her to lay on in case she's not feeling the provided hammock style beds. They have also recently added grooming services, so you can pick up your pet freshly groomed or bathed, since they do tend to get a bit dirty running around and playing in the courtyards. I will continue to use Barks and Wildlife for however much longer Bryn is with us, so don't hesitate to trust them with your pets on your next getaway.

The twice weekly report cards with a photo and update of how my boy was doing warmed my heart and made the parting a much easier. I was also able to visit and have one on one instruction time frequently with Madelyn after the first week adjustment period. My little man came home from school a well mannered gentleman and with the detail instructions from his trainer on how to continue his structure at home, I feel very confident in his continued good behavior as well as how to correct any issues.

Therese is clearly a competent and compassionate trainer and owner. I sent my recently-rescued dog to her for boarding and training while I was out of town. She was accommodating in every way, and communicated with me often (including sending me photos of my pup having fun with his new playmates!). My dog, who was timid, fearful, and anxious, was a different pup at K9 Heeler. It was shocking to see how confident, playful, and carefree he was! We still have a lot of work to do at home to help him overcome his prior traumas. Therese has been a wonderful resource, checking in with us and offering advice, even after his time with her. I have recommended her to all of my friends, and will definitely continue to seek out K9 Heeler for all of my training and boarding needs.

Same experience as Gwen A. He took 3,000 and little to show for. He had two, small crates for small…read moredogs, and I brought two German Shepherds, which one of them was big. I threaten to pull my dogs and then he bought, two large crates, which I paid for. Darryl is a nice man, but some what anti-social. He told me his wife said that of himself. He NEVER initiated any text if the dogs need more food for me to bring, how are they doing, etc. Last day, while performing a brief training for me, both my dogs were very excited. Zeus was desperate to reach me and Darryl Was choking him hard to be still. He pissed me off, but I kept my composure barely! I have no idea where he studies canine behavior but much of it is incorrect. He told me when my female German Shepherd puts he paws on my right leg, she is humping me and trying to dominate me.. She is not. If he paid attention, which he does not, she was looking up to me in total love and beautiful eyes. She is always submissive to me. Another thing he said, because I let me dogs sleep with me, I let them dominate me (dominating position) . I laughed within myself and openly disagreed. Dogs sleep with their human family because they want to protect them, be close with them and love. Where this guy gets his information beats me. He said he will send me an amazon link where he bought the collars, he did not. I have asked him for information about collars and muzzles and he is NOT interested to help. He is NOT at all engaging and probably did little training. Since I got my German Shepherds back, my female still lunges at people walking by and that was the first emphasis. Avoid at all cost. Most K9 trainers are junk and ripoff artist. He trained my dog about an hour each one (at best) and charges 1000 a week for both. I brought all the food (I had to ping him several times) and spend $205.00 for 2 large crates to put my German Shepherds in, not those small, prison crates he had and Gwen A. experienced too. When he did this, it showed he did not care for my dogs and has no compassion. Stupid me to go to him

Darryl told me that he could help so I left my dog in his care. He was suppose to update me in a…read moreweek. He didn't call so I called and he told me my dog didn't care for him. The website gave me the impression that several people would be training. After about two and one half weeks he told me he couldn't help my dog. When I dropped him off he was put in a crate in which he could hardly move around. Darryl told me he would put him in a larger one. When I went to pick him up I wanted to cry he look awful and he has feces on him. He was also very dehydrated and very little of his dog food had been eaten. I think he was left in a too little crate the whole time and not given any water or food. He didn't have his original leash and Darryl said he would mail it to my home. I sent an email and text inquiring about a refund and no response to either and that was not a surprise.

We have used this facility a couple of times. Twice for our cat, and once for our dog. The…read morecages/kennels are always clean. Our cat enjoys the climbing tree and sunny window in the cat area. While the dog (who is a large, outside-only animal) had no problem with the outdoor kennel she was kept in. When we called to let her know we were coming to pick up our animals, she was kind enough to inform us of a couple of things that we needed to be aware of... For one thing, our dog, of all times, went in heat. Also, since our dog is used to sleeping on dirt or grass, she was favoring her left hip (probably because she was sleeping on the concrete.) We got her home, and, after a few minutes, she was running around like normal. That was our fault for not remembering to bring her doggie pillow to sleep on. It was also our choice to provide cat and dog food for our pets. We wanted to make their transition/stay as easy as possible. There was no problem with us doing this, and they were fed as we directed. We will certainly use this facility if we ever have to board our pets again!

They even asked me to put in a doggie door at home. They came home in the best of moods, ready and relaxed! Thanks for taking care of my puppies.
