This woman handed us back a damaged and hurt dog without saying anything. Immediately we return to try and address this and at least get some bandages. Understanding that accidents happen but frustrated that this info was not disclosed as it should've been. There was not more than 5 minutes between us leaving and returning. We called the business and nobody answered. When we returned no one was there and nobody answered the phone, middle of the day. The dog is still bleeding actively. It's obvious that this woman couldn't have been oblivious to this fact. There was simply too much blood. We wait around the place for fifteen minutes. Occasionally knocking or calling the business to no avail. They gave us a damaged dog, that they hurt, and then promptly ignored us! We will never come back here again. They hurt our dog then took our money. On top of that, they really didn't do a good job grooming at all. My dog is hurt and I am lied to and taken advantage of. Take care of your dog and stay away from this place.

Claudia's home is on a quiet street in Port Townsend. A generous yard has sturdy fencing. Dogs are really her guests. The home is filled with toys and dog beds, but dogs have free access to beds and other furniture. They get several walks a day, and (if you like) photo updates come throughout the stay. When we picked up our high energy 13-month-old Northwest Farm Terrier, Marley, was relaxed and clearly at home. It's revealing that after our initial visit to get to know one-another, Marley would whimper and pull at her leash TOWARD Happy Paws. She loves it! Claudia has made a point of studying dogs. She believes only in positive re-enforcement, and makes it clear that this is a resort for dogs, not a training kennel. A look at her website reveals so much about her approach and philosophy toward companion animals. We will certainly return, secure in the knowledge that Marley will be happy and well cared for. Why would you put your dog at a kennel type place if you have or had this option. My dog is practically like family to Cindy now. It's honestly invaluable what she provides. My dog is never in a crate, and gets to hang with Cindy and her family, go out back and check out the chickens and other animals, he's not locked up in a cage for 20 of 24 hours a day. I get the overnight kennel places probably not having the man power to pay one on one attention to those dogs, but it's just that your dog is going from free reign of your own home to being in a kennel for hours at a time. It's a huge adjustment and difference. With Cindy, they're going from your home, to a home. She gives you updates too on how your dog is doing and sometimes even sends off photos too. Cindy even stayed in Sacramento for several hours until I could get there. Cindy made it possible for my beloved Murray to get the best medical care and I am forever grateful. In the conversation, my wife mentioned that the K9 with her was her service dog due to her PTSD related to her service in the Navy. We have been coming here for a few months, and during that time, we have received the 5% discount up to today [04 March 2025]. We came to get our 2 bags of K9 food and our bag of cat food and was told by the man behind the counter that only active service members are going to receive the 5% discount. My wife nor I have heard of only active service members receiving a discount at any store. The man was kind in regards to not giving us the discount and stated that it was something which had been in effect for quite some time so he seemed as confused about our situation as we were. If it weren't for the fact that this place is one of the few places that sell the brand Prey for dog food we'd stop coming here because we get a veteran's discount everywhere else we have shopped for dog food. I am sad that a local place, which is part of a close community of Port Townsend, doesn't offer a discount to those who have served for our country in the military along with active members. So if you are expecting to receive a veteran's discount (or have in the past), then this is a headsup that the discount doesn't apply. I immediately made an appointment for these two. It took a couple of months to get in and that is expected. They had these two groomed in about two hours. It used to take me the whole weekend. The groomers were gentle, patient, and precise. I highly recommend!
