In addition to his outstanding dog walking skills, Rick's professionalism in communication and scheduling sets DogSF apart from other services. He is always prompt in responding to inquiries and highly organized, which makes coordinating walks effortless and stress-free. We cannot recommend Rick and DogSF highly enough. His unwavering commitment to the well-being and happiness of our pets makes him an invaluable part of our lives. If you are looking for a reliable, compassionate, and professional dog walker, look no further than Rick at DogSF. read more

I was reluctant to write this review because I am not confrontational and also have to take Rick at his word, however even in doing so there is just not a good situation that came out of dog walking with Dog SF, as my dog returned one day with a broken foot. Rick walked my 5 month old Great Dane puppy for one week. On the third session Raven came back with a really bad limp. The following day the limp was still happening and after a Vet visit and x-ray there was fracturing all down my pup's smallest toe in her front left paw. When Rick did the drop off he said he noticed the limp and wasn't really sure what happened (probably just a tumble with another dog?). And then afterwards he said he saw her go down with a dog and come back up limping. I can't say whether or not this is really accurate, and from the vague sounds of it, neither can he. I lost my trust in having Rick walk my dog and hope to at least provide a cautionary tale if anyone else uses Rick in the future. Reality is that I entrusted the care of my dog to a stranger and now my dog is out of walking commission at a formidable time her in life, with a large vet bill, lack of ability to socialize with other dogs, and even higher time commitment on my part. Despite good communication through logistical parts of his service and seemingly easy-going approach to dog walking, if I were to do it again I would not have had Rick walk my puppy and had a more discerning approach to who I entrust her care to. read more

What can I say other than Rick rocks. He's been the daytime custodian of my naughty English Bulldog Daisy and she is such a happy little dog as a result. In fact she gets more excited when Rick comes to take her out than she does when I come home. Not only is he a complete dog lover but he is very professional. When I was searching for a dog walker I found that all things are not equal apart from the price. Most dog walkers charge the same $20 a day but most of the dog walkers I checked with don't have insurance. If you are looking for a dog walker, stop looking, you found him. Rick is the best. read more

Rick/ Dog SF is amazing! Our dog loves his pack walks/ overnight stays at Casa Dog SF. He comes home so happy every time! Rick is a great pack leader: super responsive and reliable. Because I don't have access to a car, I really appreciate that Rick picks up/ drops off our dog. So easy! If you are lucky enough to be in his service area, I enthusiastically recommend Rick/ Dog SF. read more

Rick / DogSF is the best dog walker in the area! He works super well with my dog Penny and she always comes back happy (and tired!). He is very accommodating in terms of schedule availability during the week in case things change or pop up for me. In the times I've needed someone to watch Penny when I couldn't bring her on a weekend trip, he offers boarding services which worked great as well. If you're in his service area I highly recommend giving Rick a call to help walk your doggos! read more

Rick is AWESOME. Before I hired him, I used to see him out at my local dogpark with his dogs. He was so amazing with his dogs, I ended up hiring him for my own! I work from home, so I would take my dog out to the park during the day. I've seen a lot of dogwalkers. Rick is definitely the BEST. He's totally focused on his dogs. He knows them well, and makes sure every one is having fun and always safe. Best of all, he really connects with each dog--you can tell that they all love him! I've also used Rick's overnight service when I go out of town. TERRIFIC and really reasonable rates. He kept me updated with texts reassuring me that my dog was having fun and doing well. He treats your dog as if it were his own. I could totally enjoy my trip knowing my dog was in good hands. When my dog is with Rick, I know he's having a blast, well-cared for, and always safe. His rates are very reasonable. When you see how happy your dog is after going out with Rick, it's well worth it. Rick is the BEST!!! read more

I've known Rick for almost 10 years now and he's been taking Badu out on her weekly walkies since he started DOGSF. He is patient and super caring about his canine clients. He's also super reliable, trustworthy and responsible. I'm a super picky dog-mom, and he's the only person I trust to leave my lovely four-legged creature with. I highly recommend him. We're lucky to have him as our dog walker. UPDATE: So I'm going on 12+ years in knowing Rick. He's been walking Badu 3x a week every week straight for almost 2 years now. I just read the two "one star" reviews. For the last year, I've been working from home and I'm at the house when Rick picks up our little pooch. I know all the other doggies in Badu's posse (yeah, I'm a good mom and walk her to the "school bus." I want to see who she's playing with). It's the same nutty bunch of doggies, a small and manageable crew. I thought it was important to note this. I think very highly of Rick and I'm saddened that someone is taking a advantage of Yelp in order to air their competitive-dog-walking-issues. They couldn't be more off base. read more

A friend sent me a text message a few days after I adopted my rescue mutt, Teddy: "your search for a dog walker is over. Go with Rick at Dog SF". Luckily I was in Rick's service area and man, was my friend right!! Teddy and I have now been clients of Rick's for the past 2.5 years. Over that time I've found Rick to be reliable, flexible, and incredibly easy to work with. From the first time they met, Teddy loved being around him. Teddy has a lot of energy (OK, pent-up anxiety would be more accurate). Rick has a very calming presence and often takes Teddy out for up to three hours. If you are lucky enough to fall in Rick's service area, I can't recommend Dog SF enough. read more

I have been dog walking for near 7 years now and I know many of the dog walkers and know many dog walkers that shouldnt. RIk is one that should walk and keep walking. I Trust Rik so much I have referred clients to him and would do it again if the dog wasnt in my area,,, so call onhim if your not in my area,,,,, wink wink read more

Having moved to SF from NYC I was very skeptical that I would find someone just as caring and responsible as the dog walker I had to leave behind. I did tons of research to identify reputable dog walkers in SF. I reached out to 6 different people, and interviewed 4 total. This is my dog, after all, my furry pug son who is overflowing with awesomeness, and if anyone ever hurt him the consequences would be bad. REAL bad. But I digress... I went with Dog SF and haven't regretted it for a moment. In addition to having a great energy and being very caring, Rick is incredibly responsible and organized. There was a period when my dog was recovering from knee surgery (luxating patellas since a pup) and his schedule and needs had to be temporarily tweaked. Rick was incredibly accommodating to these changes and came through in every way. My dog is happy and well-exercised due to his mid-day fun and excitement with Rick at the dog park. I am very happy with Rick and would recommend him to anyone looking for a responsible and caring dog walker read more

I recently moved to San Francisco from Chicago. We have two little dogs - both 1 year old. We call them the "Mean Girls" because they have never been socialized with other dogs. When we moved here they were rejected from doggie day care because they would act crazy around other dogs. Then we found Rick. I found him rated highly right here on yelp.com. It was the best thing that has ever happened to my "Mean Girls." Rick is more than a dog walker. He has helped train our girls and had so much patience. He has socialized these seriously misbehaved pups to be sweet relaxed well behaved girls at the dog park. Rick has been able to watch them on long weekends - on several occasions - which has really helped us out. They are apart of a pack in San Francisco, they go on dog walks with a group and come home really relaxed because that got their exercise. I highly recommend Rick for walking and being an amazing care taker for your pet! THANKS DOG SF - RICK - YOU ARE AWESOME! read more

Rick is like a godsend for our little family. We have a very high-strung Chihuahua (is there any other kind?) who had successfully alienated himself from every dog in the neighborhood. He would flip-out when he saw them, snarling, growing, writing checks his little booty couldn't cash. And it really made me sad for him. I knew we had failed him, but we were beyond the point where a book or some episodes of The Dog Whisperer were going to help. We needed a PROFESSIONAL intervention. Then I found Rick. He has been so incredibly accommodating and Buster is like a new dog. He's happy to see other dogs on his walks now and no longer growls and snaps. My husband was very skeptical that playgroup would help but now even he is singing Rick's praises! Rick successfully got Buster integrated into a great pack of dogs and Buster looks forward to playgroup all week. If I say Rick's name, Buster does the happy dance. Rick is the best. Don't go anywhere else. He's mellow and cool and just has a way with naughty dogs. read more

Rick is absolutely wonderful! He and Gordon split the week with Morgan and walk him on different days. They were super quick to respond and also took the time to really talk to me, tell me how it worked and answer any questions and concerns I had. Also I heard from another very reputable dog walker that being dogtec certified is a good sign. This was the first time I've ever used dog walkers and I'm so glad I found Dog SF through my friend. Morgan's always super happy to see them and get going, plus his potty breaks are on a better schedule than it's ever been. Having them walk him everyday has helped him settle into the city much easier and gives me peace of mind. :) read more

I was lucky to find Dog SF's website from a Google search and I'm SO happy that I did. Rick is such a great addition to our (and our corgi Jerry's) routine. Jerry walks with Rick three times a week when we're at work and he is always SO happy when we come home. Jerry has been sick on and off with various ailments and Rick has been so accommodating to our varying needs and schedule changes. I cannot describe how helpful this has been to us. He is easily contacted via email or phone, will give thoughtful updates (with pictures!) if asked, and is very organized in his routines. We are so thankful to be working with Dog SF and I would recommend this service to anyone who needs a dog walker in the area. Thank you Rick! read more

Rick has been an amazing pal of our pup Callie for the past 8 months. I can't imagine where we'd be without him! Callie loves her daily outings with him and the crew. And even though we still miss the heck out of her every time we are out of town, we trust Rick wholeheartedly with our crazy little mutt. If you're looking for a very reliable, friendly, awesome dog walker or someone to watch your pet when you're on vacation - I couldn't recommend Rick more highly! read more

Dog SF has saved us. With commutes down south, our little Beauford was alone too long. We really wanted to find someone who truly loved dogs. Enter DogSF. B has had some medical issues and Rick has really helped by flexing between play group and quick walks based on B's health. Now that his schedule includes on daily play, he is relaxed at home. He's never been happier. Very satisfied! I highly recommend. read more

Our little Boston Terrier has enjoyed her time with Rick and hanging out with the big dogs. She will see Rick and start jumping up and down excitedly. Rick is professional, thoroughly answers all your questions and makes every effort make our little Maddie feel like she is on "vacation" while we are away. Two thumbs up from us and lots of tail wags from Maddie! read more

I highly recommend Dog SF & Rick to anyone who is looking for a reliable and caring dog care provider. My dog Lucky was with Rick for over 6 years until my recent move to the east coast. I initially tried "Doggy Day Care", however Lucky could not adapt to that environment. Rick & Lucky connected immediately. Despite having separation anxiety, Lucky eagerly went with Rick every morning & actually waited for him by the door. I had a very demanding job that required long work days & frequent travel. Rick was a god send for daily play groups & overnights. It was such a relief to be able to juggle everything & have peace of mind, knowing that Lucky was so well cared for. Rick cares for many dogs in my previous condo building in SF; we all dubbed him"The Dog Whisperer" as Rick is able to socialize even the most difficult/unfriendly dog. I highly recommend Rick for daily play groups, walks & overnights. Your dog will be so happy being part of his pack. read more

Rick is awesome! He was our dog walker when we lived in Mission Bay and we moved. We were a little bit out of the way for him but he accomodated us. We will always be greatful. He treats our dog with the utmost respect and our doggy loves him! read more

My wife and I have been using Rick's services for several years now and there is no one else that we trust as completely with our dog. Whether it's for dog walking or dogsitting on a weekend he's been as reliable and responsible as they come. Plus he loves dogs and he's just really great with them. I wouldn't hand my dog over to just anyone, but I feel great knowing she's with Rick. read more

Rick was recommended to us by a fellow dog-owner in our building and we couldn't be happier. During the 2-3 hours he takes our dog for playtime every day, Rick has taken the time to help train our dog to keep from jumping up on people - and he has gotten noticeably better. He knows our dog well, and when we talk to him Rick will tell us about our dog's doggy-buddies and how he is at the park. In addition, Rick's prices appear to be some of the most reasonable - the other dog walkers advertising in our building will only do a pee-break for the same price Rick charges for a full hour at the dogpark. We've recommended him already in the past and would absolutely recommend him again! read more

Rick has been taking excellent care of our dog, Maple, for a long time. - 2 and a half years! Maple loves Rick. My husband and I think he's pretty special too and highly recommended Rick. Rick is always responsible and on time. In fact, I think the standard US time clock should be set to Rick time: it is impeccable. Maple runs to the door upon Rick's arrivals (she knows the sound of his truck) and returns completely exhausted, which is a doggie owner's dream. We completely trust Rick with Maple for daily outings, the keys to our home, to manage his dog groups well, and longer pet sitting stints while we're on vacation. Heck, Maple gets a vacation too! read more

I just started having my 12 year old adopted shelter dog (Sofia) walked by Rick. Sofia seems very happy and tired when I get home from my long shift at work. I found Rick initially through the SF SPCA (in my mind, the safest place to start). Having just moved to SOMA, and also basically working right away, I was in a panic to find a reputable dog walker who could give Yukie what she needs. This was made additionally challenging by the distinct lack of walkers servicing the SOMA area. From the moment I met Rick though, I was sure that he was going to be perfect for Yukie, and he has completely lived up to my expectations. Rick is very personable, super friendly, and clearly adores dogs. Yukie enthusiastically does her happy dance and attack whenever she sees him, and I can tell that she is definitely getting her energy out when they go to the park. Knowing that Rick is taking care of her eases my mind when I've got a long day at work - I highly recommend him. Yukie and I would be seriously up a creek without him. read more

Dog SF and Rick are the absolute best! You get so much for what you paying - a great park excursion for a few hours compared to just a walk around the block. Including the peace of mind of knowing your pooch is in good hands. Rick even takes overnights and sends pics to update you along the way. My dog Griswold and I are incredibly happy customers! read more

Rick has walked my dog multiple times a week for the last 3 years. In that entire time, he has never cancelled or said no to a walk that I needed. He has been so reliable which is a blessing because of my long work schedule/commute. I never had to worry about my pup :) Unfortunately now I'm moving out of SF so after 3 years, will have to find a new dog walker. I will miss Dog SF so much!!! read more

I could not be more grateful to Rick and Mara at Dog SF. I recommend them very highly to anyone looking for top-notch care of their pups! Most importantly, Rick and Mara take such great care of our dog. Occasionally, I'm home when they pick up my dog, and she is always so excited to see them and comes back tired after lots of good play time. I love getting photos from time to time -- my dog is always smiling from ear to ear in the photos! It provides so much peace of mind to know that Rick and Mara take our pup to enclosed areas -- no chance of her getting away! It's also such a pleasure working together with Rick and Mara. They are very flexible and are always ready to try to find a way to help me out when my work or travel schedule changes -- they are just a text away and always very responsive. Such a huge help! You'd be lucky to have your dog walked by Dog SF! I recommend them very highly. read more

Emmie (aka Emmie "Moo") has been in Rick's daily morning walking group for the past 3 months. She's completely in love with him! He matched her with his "little dog" group, which includes some sweet pooches who live in my 'hood. He spends about 2 1/2 hours each morning taking her to doggie parks, running her lil doggie butt off until she comes home exhausted, sleeping until mid-afternoon. As a result, she's a happy, well-adjusted puppy who's excited to see him (and me) every day. Rick goes out of his way to help us out in a pinch - he has access to my house, and I trust him completely. If you live in South Beach, Rick is the dogwalker for you! read more

My husband and I moved to San Francisco not even a year ago and we've been through 3 dog-walking services. I'm glad to say that we're looking NO MORE! From one pet care professional to another, DOG SF and Rick are one of the few other providers I recommend to people in need of a TRUSTWORTHY, ACTIVE and overall GENUINE person to care of your loved one. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Rick and Dogsf:-) Attentive, prompt and reliable. My dog Ollie is not the most "agreeable" pooch, yet Rick always seems to keep the peace and work with our schedules (and both our temperaments). Can't go wrong with Rick and Dog SF!!! read more

Rick is fantastic. He has been our pup's dog walker for a couple years now, and our people-oriented spaniel can't wait to see him every day. We highly recommend DogSF! read more

I found Rick through Yelp, and I couldn't be happier. I've had dog walkers who skipped days and/or cut outings short. He has never done anything like that. He communicates any change in schedule and makes sure it works for you before switching anything up (and even that happens rarely - usually due to Giants game traffic since I live near the stadium!). My dog can hear him coming from down the hallway, and excitedly waits for him at the door. He's taken her for overnights when I've gone out of town and texts me pictures while I'm gone, which is so great for peace of mind. read more

look no further than dogsf for your dog walking/boarding needs. i have a rescue dog that has quite the reputation as the "instigator" when it comes to getting in fights with other dogs. Recently I was called out of town because of a family emergency. As I was frantically making last minute airline and hotel reservations and trying to organize to pack, I realized that I would also have to make arrangements for someone to take care of my standard poodle, Bailey. None of my friends was able to help and the one place that I found in the Yellow Pages wanted me and Bailey to come in for an "interview" before they would agree to board him. Well, I certainly didn't have time for that now and I started to really panic since my plane was scheduled to depart in a few hours. Then I remembered Rick and his dog walking business, Dog SF. Rick has been walking Bailey for several years, so I immediately called him. Rick not only agreed to take care of Bailey while I was gone, but offered to stop by and pick him up since he was in my neighborhood! When Rick arrived, he said that he would be happy to give me a ride to the airport as well! Needless to say, I am very pleased with Rick and the outstanding service provided by his company. He is reliable, responsible, concerned about the welfare of the dogs under his care and truly loves animals. From now on I plan to board Bailey with Rick whenever I need to travel. read more

Rick has been walking my fur son and fur daughter for about 4 years now, and I must say I trust him completely and can't recommend him highly enough. I treat my fur kids like my real kids (yes, I know I'm not supposed to do that, but I still do), and I take the care of my pets extremely seriously, and I would not let just any person take care of them. We got lucky in finding him through the Yelp reviews, and ever since day one he has been great. He's the kind of dog whisperer type of person who is completely calm and bonds with dogs -- the type of person you want to be with dogs, but (as a high strung lawyer) you never can be. You can tell that all the dogs love him. My kids love him and look forward to his daily visits. He followed me through three moves. I specifically planned my moves so that i didn't move out of the area that he serves because I didn't want to lose him as a walker. He takes my kids for overnights whenever I have to be out of town, and even through a three week long trip overseas. They were totally well cared for, were happy, and he even dealt with my kids' special home cooked diets during that long time. He is super reliable as well. read more
