He stayed for about an hour answering all of our questions and going through our routine with us. He and his company are very thorough and good at what they do. I felt I could trust him and his staff to come into our house without us being home. When they are done with the visit you get an email with all of the notes from the visit and sometimes you get pictures as well of the dogs playing. This allowed us to go out late on a weekend night. We plan on using them in the future.

When arrived they wanted to use ropes to lift him with due to so badly soiled. So we supplied our own blanket and carried him to car. He was in obvious pain, soiled, bleeding from mouth. He was immediately taken to animal hospital and advised had to be put down for fractured back and kidney issues. When asked for an explanation Randa immediately sent a refund saying upon my request, which was just for explanation. When followed up was told I can't sue because I signed a waiver, that it was my fault for boarding an older dog and not boarded before. I never made any accusations or asked for anything but an explanation. I'm so devastated I left my pet/family member in their care.

Phil is incredibly patient, kind, and knowledgeable. He has helped us improve everything from basic obedience and leash manners to focus, impulse control, recall, and staying calm and attentive around distractions. He does a great job explaining not only what to do, but why it works, which has made such a difference in our training at home. Phil truly goes above and beyond to make sure both you and your dog have the proper tools and skills to succeed. He is always willing to answer questions, offer suggestions, and work with you to find what works best for your individual dog. Our dog gets so excited to see him every week, it's like watching a little kid light up when the ice cream truck comes around! We've learned so much from Phil and have seen such a positive difference in our dog's training and confidence. We would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, caring, and dedicated dog trainer!

Very disappointing and alarming experience with Phil, the trainer/owner. I brought my 15-month-old Samoyed puppy for his first training session. My puppy is a sweet, friendly, loving dog who gets along with everyone. He is simply young, energetic, and still learning. The most alarming part of the session involved stairs. My puppy has never used stairs because we live in a ranch home, and Phil knew this. Despite my expressing concern, he forced my puppy to the stairs instead of gently leading, took my puppy higher up the stairs and then let go of his leash. My puppy jumped down at least six concrete steps onto a concrete surface and landed awkwardly on his leg. He was clearly frightened and panicking. I also had to tell Phil that he was standing on my puppy's back paw. Phil also knew that my puppy had been dealing with separation anxiety and that we had been actively working on it. When my puppy became excited and barked, Phil placed him alone in a utility/closet area. When my puppy panicked, Phil said, "There is the separation anxiety coming out," and then turned off the light and left him locked in the dark room. I also had concerns about the facility, including the availability and condition of drinking water, slippery flooring, and whether vaccination status was actually being verified for all dogs attending. Based on what I personally witnessed, I was extremely uncomfortable with the handling and training methods and did not feel that my puppy was in the hands of someone I could trust. I will not be returning or continuing training with Phil. MY RESPONSE TO PHIL' S RESPONSE: His response does not address the specific conduct I described or the reason I will never bring my puppy back to this facility. He explains his "general" approach to stairs, but that is not what happened. He knew my puppy had never used stairs. I expressed my concern. He took him higher up the stairs, and then RELEASED HIS LEASH. My puppy subsequently jumped down at least six concrete steps onto a concrete floor and landed awkwardly on his leg while clearly frightened and panicking. I also had to tell him he was standing on his back paw. Saying that he used this procedure with "countless puppies and dogs" does not change what he did to my puppy. Likewise, his description of his training philosophy does not address the most disturbing part of the session. He knew my PUPPY had separation anxiety and that we had been actively working on it. When he became distressed after being isolated IN A UTILITY CLOSET BY PHIL who thought this was a good way to teach him to stop barking when he was excited, he identified it as his separation anxiety and then TURNED OFF THE LIGHT AND LEFT HIM LOCKED IN A DARK UTILITY ROOM WHILE HE WAS PANICKING AND AFRAID. That is exactly what I witnessed and is completely inconsistent with how I expect ANY puppy or dog with known separation anxiety or not to be handled. OUTRAGEOUS AND CRUEL! Regarding water and vaccinations, my review accurately described my personal observations and concerns at the facility and what I was and was not asked to provide. THERE WAS NO FRESH WATER FOR THE DOGS AND NO VACCINATION RECORDS WERE CHECKED OR VERIFIED. This review is not about whether he uses choke collars, e-collars, pinch collars, yelling, or leash corrections. I did not accuse him of using those things. The issue is POOR JUDGEMENT, handling, and how Phil responded to a young, inexperienced dog who was frightened and whose known anxiety had been disclosed to him in advance. He refunded my payment, but a refund DOES NOT CHANGE what occurred during the session or my resulting loss of confidence in his ability to safely handle ANY PUPPY OR DOG. I stand by my review. I witnessed what I described, I made my concerns clear at the time, and based on that experience, I chose not to return.

I did not care for the powerful scent they were diffusing in the lobby--scents, especially that extreme, are not good for people so they are probably not good for pets, plus, what are they covering up. I am not usually bothered but, man that was really bad. I was concerned about the outdoor play area they showed through another window because it was not made for dogs at all. It is simply a fenced area that happened to be there--and the dogs have to go down concrete steps. Great if you have a larger dog. Terrible if you have a mini dachshund--a breed that is not supposed to go down stairs at all. They are supposed to use ramps. I expressed my concern and said that would be a problem unfortunately and the reply is that she could learn to use them. I know that. The point is that medically, long backed low dogs are not supposed to use steps because of the association with IVDD/paralysis. With other choices we liked better, this was not the one for us.

We had been through at lot with 5 other daycare facilities with their promise not to let anything bad happen and thousands in vet bills. Then Pet Suites opened. They don't give the dogs toys in the all day play daycare-I will never understand places that do. Before and after the 8 hours of play the dogs stay in suites with no plastic trays to snack on. When she was at dogtopia I would watch on the cameras as the dogs just circled around the room all day. It was very stressful and for the animals too. That is not the case at Pet Suites. Thry have indoor outdoor play weather permitting. I never see dogs circling - just playing or lounging! When I unexpectedly got a puppy from the shelter during a very busy work time I signed her up right away for the puppy preschool. I could tell my puppy was happy, loved, and well cared for. The program is great. She is now in the regular daycare and I am more than happy with how the days are scheduled and how they are cared for. Having a clean, great facility and daycare/boarding programs is only part of it. The people that work there are ALL incredible. They all care for animals that much is obvious, but they are all great with people too--they must have high hiring standards. I thank them all for making rescuing this puppy possible. I can name them all as they all keep me coming back, but this is already too long - thank you Tina, Kaitlin, Jillian, Amanda, Danielle, Lauren, Mia....everyone else!

It very quickly became clear that they were VERY uncomfortable with anyone coming into our home. At this point I began my search for a dog trainer. I was SO SO SO close to giving my money to one of those "fix it quick" dog training companies. Thanks to some helpful advice I received online, I quickly realized that your every day, run of the mill dog trainer is NOT equipped to handle such cases, and can often make the behavior worse over time. Knowing that I needed someone who actually knows what they are doing, I looked for local trainers on the "Certified Professional Dog Trainers" directory, and found Mary. It was such a joy to work with her. Given that my pups are afraid of strangers, it just so happened to work out perfectly that Mary was, in fact, a stranger. She took me step by step through the process of getting my dogs acclimated to people by having me practice techniques on her, and by the end of our sessions together, my pups were wagging their tails and excited whenever she would arrive. While stranger reactivity doesn't go away overnight, she equipped me with the skills I need to slowly acclimate my dogs to people over the years and years we will inevitably spend together. I could see that she was a little sad on our last session, which is such a testament to how much love and care she brings for her clients and their dogs. To sum it up in one sentence: I couldn't recommend her enough

The convenient Wheaton location of the facility is great for daycare and they also allow for half-day daycare too. Very flexible scheduling. When I pick my dog up, I can tell that she's received personalized attention from the staff and that she has been well cared for. Often she's been able to work one-on-one with a staff member for nearly all of her half-day session. We also attend the group classes which are incredibly unique and let my dog build up practice interacting with other dogs in a way that reinforce new, good behaviors. My neighbors are thrilled with the progress almost as much as I am - my dog no longer automatically barks at everyone outside now and is able to make new friends. The in home training we did originally was incredibly valuable to get us started on the right foot. We need to do that again very soon! Is it the least expensive daycare and/or training in the area? No. But it is ABSOLUTELY worth it. When I leave my dog in the care of The Canine's Voice I know that she's going to be safe, loved, and will learn a few things while she's there. The classes are incredibly valuable too. The results speak for themselves.

I found myself in a dingy, tight, and cramped basement with too many people wearing ill-fitting masks. COVID-19 aside, I don't know how The Obedience Center has remained in business for so long. They don't value building relationships with your dog. Their "training" includes screaming "quiet" at dogs, grabbing them by their mouths when they're puppy biting, and spaying peppermint breath spray into their mouths. Mary is a genuinely unpleasant individual. She'll make you feel like you're back in elementary school with a miserable teacher that needs to retire. I was so hopeful for this place, but I never returned. I've met people at the local dog park with similar experiences, and so I'm glad it wasn't just me. I found a better training place that fosters human/dog relationships and imparts knowledge helpfully. It's true, there are tons of ribbons on the walls, and I have no reason to believe that her authoritarian training regime scares dogs into compliance. I have different values and have found success without her methods. If tyranny and cruelty isn't your preference, I'd suggest you avoid this place at all costs.
