I was a student at happy pets academy in Stark county Ohio. I came all the way from Georgia. In my…read moreopinion I must say this is the worst experience I've ever had in looking for a dog grooming school. First of all I found out later that the teacher had no working equipment to groom dogs. The bathroom was so severe that I had to go across the street to use the bathroom. This so called school in my opinion was so filthy and smelled so bad. I don't know why I even stayed as long as I did. The first day we had no dogs to groom and the smell was overwhelming. She proceeded to give me old equipment that was all broken. That day all she did was yell at the kennel girl who actually quit a week after I was there. The proceeding day we didn't groom dogs again. She did have kennel dogs because she also boards dogs as well but, I could not groom them. I sat all day and looked at her and read magazines. The only thing I learned was to cut toe nails and feet. I am a left handed person and she told I "had to be a right hand groomer" because she had no left handed scissors. She talks about every school and says terrible things so you will go to her school. She says that you cannot learn to groom dogs in two weeks just to have you come to her school. She doesn't realize that you can learn to groom at 80 clock hours if you have the right teacher who knows how to teach professional dog grooming. First of all this school is not even licensed through the board of career colleges and schools. In my opinion she knows nothing about teaching anyone about dog grooming. She is not a teacher. If you don't believe me just stop in her shop. If you leave your dog there for boarding. Please go to see the shop FIRST so you could see where your fur-babies are being held. She never seems to want to show anyone the back. You will be very surprised at how disappointing and filthy the shop truly is. When you choose a school from what I just learned get references and make sure that the teacher is state licensed and has taught for many year. Check out your school first! I came up here for a positive experience and I found it very disappointing. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. Thank you for reading this.

I truly believe this is the only grooming school worth attending in the state. There are so many important details that she teaches you that will set you apart from other groomers. I'm beyond thankful for her knowledge and willingness to teach others!

Groomers are top notch, caretakers are wonderful - creative in their "Report Cards." It's a great special touch . Cannot recommend this place enough ~ they really love their jobs as you can tell with their gracious attitudes. I'm so happy we have them.

I was told to have a seat by the entrance door where customers were dropping off their dogs for the day. A man brought in his 2 Border Collies who immediately turned right and started to snap at our dog who barked back. Nothing was said to the owner of the Collies. He then dropped off some cookies and gifts to the staff and left. Still waiting patiently when a pug and a Doberman arrived and came up to our dog who again barked back. The woman who had the Pug came and apologized and she stuck her hand out close to our dogs nose and she tried to nip at her but did not bite. A few minutes later one of the staff approached me and I was told they would not take her as she showed signs of aggression. Mind you she was in unfamiliar settings with a lot of activity close by- how would most dogs respond? That was it, no evaluation, just an assumption of aggressive behavior. I guess it's all our dog's fault- not the the dogs of the regular clients. Did not even get an I'm sorry from the staff. We had this same dog board there overnight for a week one year ago- no problem. Condescending and rude behavior by the staff and clearly unprofessional. Moral of the story - be like Skippy the nerd and bring cookies! Will not be coming back and would not recommend! Merry Christmas!
