The professionalism has always been outstanding and it's rare for us to see bugs after treatments and when we do see them, it's generally ants. We've had a much wetter than usual spring and when we started seeing ants again, we called Valor. It wasn't our usual contract appointment, but nonetheless we explained our ant problem and they responded with a courtesy service the next day. Next day service is exceedingly rare. Their employee, Reuben arrived spot-on the time we were told to expect him. He said something that really struck me as premier customer service when he said, no matter that we sprayed in March, I am here to do whatever is needed to control your pest issues. His friendliness, professionalism and knowledge of the products he was using were impressive. He listened intently and asked questions while I walked him around the trouble areas and then he went to work. He came the same day and went out of his way to provide comprehensive service: he sprayed areas inside and outside the house, put powder down, filled holes, set traps, cleaned broken debris off the porch where I was bitten and dropped a potted plant (which I was terrified to return to), checked my chimneys for possible entry points and answered all my questions thoroughly and patiently. I later had a Yellowjacket nest being built on a fence near a door on my home, and he came out the next morning after being contacted at night. After finally showing up they come once in April and once in May....then NOTHING. They do not come at all in June. Finally on July 13th I call to cancel services and explain how they never show up (and also that our bug issue wasn't resolved anyway) and the agent tells me that I am signed up for services every 2 months and not every month! What!? Why would I do that- totally inaffective. So she says she has cancelled the account and all is good. So TODAY is SATURDAY July 24th- I wake up at 8:15 am to see an email saying that Orkin came to my vacation rental property at 7AM!!! Guests have windows without curtains and even when we had service with them they were told they could only come week days between 10am and 4pm!!! Now I'm getting calls from very angry people that they woke up to a creeper outside of their windows at 7am. Orkin is the absolute WORST! Currently spending another hour of my life on the phone with them to try YET AGAIN to cancel services with them. I was just given apologies (which are worth nothing) and reassured that now it definitely is cancelled. DO NOT HIRE ORKIN. BUNCH OF CLOWNS

I have been using Apex Pest Control since I purchased my home near downtown Asheville (Montford) in 2010. I am on monthly treatments (for mosquitos, etc. in the summer, as well as other services that accommodate those treatments. They have always been very responsive, professional and accommodating with my every need. I am a real estate broker, and have suggested their services to many, many clients of mine in the past, and my clients have alway (every time) been extremely happy, as well. SO, here is where the real kicker is... I have a rental home in the same neighborhood. When purchasing the home, there was a termite bond with another company. Needless to say, we needed to keep services with that other company to keep the bond active. Because of that, we had regular pest treatments to that house as well, just to keep things simple. Last weekend, my tenants called me to let me know that there was a flea issue in the house. I wanted it addressed immediately, believing that nobody should have to deal with such and issue (they do not have pets in the house). I called our "regular" pest control company. They told us that they were very busy, but would try to fit us in. They called back about 20 minutes later and indicated that they would be there between 5:30-6:00 that evening. My tenants waited until 8:00pm before they called me to say that the company was a NO SHOW (again, not Apex). This was unacceptable to me... not even a phone call. The next morning, I talked with Jeff from Apex. I was frantic trying to get this horrible situation taken care of. He indicated that they were very backed up and that they could try to squeeze me in on the next day. I am sure that he could sense that I was very upset (not with him, but the situation and not wanting my tenants to deal with this). I told him that my tenants had their son and grandson coming in the following day, and that I was going to have to put them all up in hotel rooms because it was not right to have them stay in an infested house. Jeff called back in about 10 minutes and told me that they could be at the house in 15 minutes if I could make it available to them. They came, treated, all is well and all are happy. The end of the story is... this home was not even a home that is a regular for them. Maybe because I was/am a regular, they took that into consideration. Either way, they took care of me in a desperate situation. They cared for me when they didn't need to, and were very professional and caring. I highly recommend them. They consistently offer stellar customer service, are timely and professional, and their treatments work! Tyler is great to work with and is happy to explain the products he uses and adapt his approach based on my needs/requests (for example, staying far away from my vegetable garden). The most recent time he was here he even offered suggestions for chemical-free/more natural DIY pest deterrents because he knows that is important to me. I don't know from personal experience how their fees compare with other pest control businesses in the area but I'm always very satisfied with my experience with them and trust they are going to help me address problems and not try to sell me on something I don't need.
