Doc's Oyster Bar in Valparaiso... Meh. Checked out Doc's on a Monday night for dinner, as the reviews were nearly all 5 stars... While it wasn't bad, I didn't think it lived up to all the hype. Doc's has a prime location right on an inlet and has super chill beach bar vibes, but I'd call it more of a run down local dive bar... Not anything wrong with that, but not really my thing. The food was alright ($15 for 6 oysters the size of a dime was laughable), they have a good draft beer selection, and the service was really friendly... Albeit I didn't like the service model though - No servers, you had to go to the counter to order both food and drinks. I can see this place being slammed on the weekend and service being a complete nightmare. All-in-all, not bad but not my favorite place in town either... If you like a local dive bar with decent food and well-priced drinks, check out Doc's.

Oyster dive bar near the base. Great ambience, and good oysters. You place all orders with the bartender and they bring you food to you. Thursday nights are karaoke nights.

Been there three times and the fresh shucked oysters never disappoint. Staff is friendly, drinks are nice and cold. The scenery is awesome. Can't wait to visit again.

The last time I was in this area, I loved this place. It has a cozy old bayou feel with a multi level deck over looking the water. Parking really sucks. You order at the bar and the food is brought out to you by a number. They have added a new bar space with makes it bigger. The interior is all sea based with lobsters, big spear fished fish and even a big ole shark. The oysters were good. The Mahi Tacos were good. I had Doc's beer which was not my favorite. They have a decent selection of bourbon. It was trivia night so it was getting crowded as I left.

5/5, no complaints. I was in town for a few days and decided to get take out my last night. Great decision! I got the blackened fish basket. Good amount of fish and the sauce is amazing. Next time I'm in town I'll be eating here again. Hard to beat it for the flavor and you can beat it for the price.

There are great views at this quaint water-front oyster bar. You order from the counter, are given a number, and can sit wherever you like. We had a dozen raw gulf oysters as well as grilled. Prices are pretty fair, and they have a happy hour on drinks

On business travel on Father's Day so tough sledding on a Sunday and finding somewhere open. I had targeted Doc's from the start as I love fresh seafood and wanted see what they had to offer! First off the directions were a hair off if using Yelp app. Took me to the establishment right next to Doc's. From the outside, it is definitely a dive bar but a cool location right next to water. The weather was crazy hot even at 7:30 so I decided to venture inside to place my order and grab a seat - picture is pretty neat. My Yuengling was fresh and served icy cold! I decided to skip the oysters as I had no idea what they looked like... I went with the Fried Green Tomatoes and the Mahi Mahi fish basket. Loved the bang bang sauce on the tomatoes. The fried baby shrimp were also a different touch. The tomatoes were fresh and thick cut so it played well and loved the added hot sauce I threw on. My main order was the Mahi Mahi which I ordered blackened. Order came with a spicy ranch and two hush puppies with fries. The fish was absolutely awesome. Flaky and seasoned well. The fries and the hush puppies were also great. Definitely could need finish everything. While sitting at the table, I was able to see the flame broiled oyster and knew I would be back for a quick lunch before heading to the airport. I tried the oysters three ways. The tequila lime cilantro, the jerk with rum butter and the three cheese with jalapeños! I honestly loved them all. Hope my ventures on business brings me back to the Eglin area! Enjoy the pics...

This is a great place to get your girl drunk on Sunday afternoon after church. $9 bottomless mimosas until 3pm. We had a pitcher of beer; it was $8. Seriously, This place rocks. Good music, lots of TVs, friendly staff and really good food. We sat outside and watched the jet skiers fly by. I'll definitely be back. read more

Met a buddy there who recommend this bar. I'm sure I never would have found it otherwise. Cool looking little place on first impression. The music wasn't impressive but the waitress said it was the bar tenders play list. Cant argue with that. Beer selection was good and it was pretty cold. We had the artichokes, spinach and shrimp dip. It was pretty good. Oyster jalapeño was ok. Too much jalapeño and they should really be chopped up not just put 5 in the melted cheese. Cool points for nice friendly waitress and cat wandering around. Love to come back in the summer but hope they change the music up. read more

Great variety of charbroiled oysters. We had Oysters Doc a Feller, Gouda and Bacon, 3 cheese Jalapeño, swamp fire and Black & Blue. Gouda and bacon were my favorite, followed by Black & blue and Swap fire having a tie for second. Not a fan of the 3 cheese Jalapeño. Chicken wings were smoke and HUGE. Great place!!! read more

I love this place. I always get the shrimp tacos because they're the best. The fries are pretty awesome too. During COVID we often order ahead and then ride the boat to them and pick up. It's always ready in a timely manner and we haven't had any hassles. read more

Yummy food with a view. Lovely way to start a weekend. It was busy when we got in on a Friday night. We snagged two seats at the rail and enjoyed the amazing view. Fish tacos were yummy and the Captain's platter was satisfying. Sounds of the live music drifted out to the patio. read more

Great ambiance. Cozy jungle vibe on the water. Excellent blackened mahi tacos. Others in my party had oysters on the half shell, gumbo, fried seafood platters and loaded fries. All were good except the gumbo. Skip it. It is okra soup. Zero seafood to be found and no flavor. Otherwise, nice. I will definitely go back. Just won't order the terrible gumbo. read more

Best damn wings I've had. They serve the whole wing! Haven't seen that in decades. Get the hot sauce, not mild. Hot has a nice flavor and definitely not too hot. The raw oysters are plump and briney. Fried oysters and fried shrimp pretty solid too. Limited menu but what they have with solid beers on tap. This place is awesome. read more

We've never had a bad meal at Doc's. The shrimp po-boy is more than I can eat and they have the best burger in Niceville/Val-P. The staff is always friendly and the twin cats are the proverbial cherries on top of the cake. Well done, Doc's! read more

Found this place on Yelp after flying into Destin from Knoxville for a 3 day stay from the Avetts Brothers concert at the Unwined Festival in Panama city. We were hungry and were most definitely wanting a place off the beaten path that locals would hang out at. Well we found it. Just a bar/restaurant on a river bank with live music and awesome food. You order up front at the bar when you arrive, they give you a number to place on your table, and you seat yourself. Was packed on a Friday night and the food took a little while. But the wait staff was working their butts off and the food was awesome. I got the fish tacos with fries and both were awesome. My wife got the softshell crab platter and was thrilled. read more

Leaving the beach to fly out of VPS, I was looking for a great place to enjoy my last food & drinks on vacation: Doc's didn't disappoint! Cute place with several seating options (most with a water view). Good choice of food and all that we ordered was delicious- fried pickles, pulled pork sliders with the mango sauce, and crab claws. Nice selection of adult beverages and we opted for a local brew Props Dos Pilotos which was perfect with our meal. I will make the trip out of my way to come here again the next time I visit Destin. read more

Ordered an iced coffee, paid for it with my Amex, phone got the alert right away that the charge went through, Kaley said the charge was declined. I showed her my phone, pulled up my account to show her the transaction was not declined and she said well on her end it was and there was nothing she could do. I stepped outside and called Amex who verified the charge had posted, went back in to tell her (Kaley? Kelsey who claims she is a manager) and she still refused to give me my coffee that I paid for, even after showing her proof! Completely stole my money and horrible customer service. All over a $5 coffee. We planned on our extended family all dining there the majority of the week but not anymore! Frauds!

Doc's Oyster Bar has a killer view -- right on the water, which definitely sets the mood. The oysters were fresh and full of flavor, but a few came out way overcooked. Like, borderline cremated. That said, the rest of the meal was solid, and the atmosphere made it worth the stop. Just hoping they keep a closer eye on the grill next time because we'll definitely be back! The best shrimp Po boy sandwich I have ever had here in Florida. I've tried many places but this still takes the cake. The shrimp is so good and the bread is tasty. They put it on the grill which gives it that yummy grill taste. The fries are also amazing! They have great seasoning and crispness on them. My family and I love their food. This is a very cool establishment right at the foot of the Toms Bayou bridge. What a hole in the wall local find should be! Margaritas on the rocks and fish tacos are consistently delicious. Fried pickles make a great appetizer. Drink specials for military. Great views (sans construction). Parking can be tight. read more
