We just stopped in for a quick bite on on Sunday night since we were in the area and it got good Yelp reviews. The food was solid, but as others have mentioned it's a relativley limited menu. we both had the fried chicken dinner which was their special for the night. It was cooked to perfection, but could have used a little more seasoning for our tastes. We were asked where we wanted to sit, and we said anywhere...not realizing that in 10 minutes a singer was going to be starting. They sat us at a table which was right in front of the speaker which made dinner conversation a little rough. Thankfully the singer was very good, which made it okay. This would be a great place to stop for a bite after a day on the river. We would definitely go back if we're out that way again. read more

I enjoyed the food the time I took my niece out to eat for her 16th birthday. The staff greeted us with a warm smile. We were asked if we would like to sit in bar area or down in the patio covered area...we decided for the patio area. Once we were there I decided the patio lawn chairs were not that comfortable and it was hard to hear over the echo in the room. All and all I give the Restrarant a 4 out 5 stars. read more

I will never return to Doc's again. It was the worst service I have ever received. #1- we had a party of 11, 3 of them kids. They seated us out in the patio part downstairs where it was hot as could be. #2- we waited over an hour for just sandwiches and macaroni and cheese. #3- 4 of the 11 meals were cold and the waitress said "there's nothing I can do about it"... You could have offered to warm them up! #4 we get a bill for $186, nothing is comped to us.. Even though we complained multiple times! #5- we ask to speak to a manager.. I think it was the owner. He comes out and says that everything was like that because there kitchen was backed up. There were 3 other tables... Really??????? He comped us 3 meals but the waitress still shouldn't have received a tip for how rude she was. I will never return to this restaurant again even if someone paid me. The staff is very rude.. Excellent "Friday Fish Fry." Fairly new, and located on the Fox River. Top deck gives a spectacular view while dining. Reservations on the weekend...encouraged. Parking leaves something to be desired. All in all.....great place to dine and relax. read more

Good service, friendly waitstaff, nice atmosphere. Clean rest rooms. Food was ok. Husband had the ribs and onion strings. Ribs had a bit of a refrigerator taste. I wouldn't have eaten them. My side salad was excellent, fresh, good dressing, not leaf lettuce. I also ordered a tuna melt. It was good, but Luke warm. Husband's food was hot. Great experience! I performed at Doc's last year at a private party, and then was invited back the following year to perform on their newly renovated roof-top bar. I knew that it was good when we arrived at 8 pm on a Friday night and could hardly find a parking space. This place was packed. The entrance and decor on the way in is really classy and the owner is one of the most personable I've met. We were seated in the enclosed porch, though I didn't care for the seats (kind of a lawn chair). We ordered fried mushrooms. They were fantastic -- Portabella, not the typical caps. We had the gourmet burgers. They were delicious and huge. I had the Doc's, while my wife had the Santa Fe. They all come with their own homemade chips, though I ordered sweet potato fries with mine. The food was very good. Our server was very pleasant. Though they were busy, our food came very quickly. The best thing that I can say is that we'll be going back there...and soon. read more

Waitress was attentive, food took forever to come out. The kids meal and a salad were the highlight of the meals. Burgers were burnt, tacos were overseasoned, the rice tasted like dishsoap and was sent back for refund. The manager appeared to be micromanaging the servers and slowing things way down. This is the kind of place Waterford needed. First of all, this place has outstanding service. Food is served in a timely matter. The first time I ate at Doc's, I was there to discuss a very serious matter with a friend. However, we couldnt even focus on the problem we were facing because all we could do was talk about how spectacular the food was! This is not the kind of food one normally would expect from a small town. I would have no problem paying top dollar for the meals I've had at Doc's but the prices are remarkabley reasonable. . Perhaps the BEST thing on their menu is the spinach and artichoke dip. I've also enjoyed the chicken dinner, lobster roll, and cheeseburger soup as well as chicken dumpling. They have a varied drink menu that is modern but practical. I'm a very picky eater and feel that if I am going to pay for food it must be outstanding. There are very few places that meet that criteria. I'm so happy I found docs...the atmosphere, staff, and owners are just outstanding and I look forward to going back again. read more

We wanted to try a new place for Friday Fish Fry. I had the fried cod and my wife had the baked cod. My fried cod was not greasy and I got 3 big pieces which was plenty. It was delicious! My wife said her baked cod was very tasty and not dry at all. You also get your choice of potato and Cole slaw along with a nice piece of bread. Just moved to the area and thought we would check this place out. When we arrived it was later so we and another couple were the only people in the restaurant. We still had to wait about 5 min for someone to recognize we were there. When she did, she never welcomed us and she had an annoyed look on her face. At this point I'm already turned off. When she sets our menus down on the table she just leaves still not even saying a word to us. I told her right away that we didn't wanna eat here anymore and she just laughed and walked away. It blows my mind that the owner could build anything he wanted on this PRIME piece of real estate on the shores of Lake Tichigan and this is what he did. You would think anyone with an ounce of common sense would revolve his entire "waterfront" restaurant (as he bills it) on the VIEW!!! You would have to work at figuring out a way to block every conceivable view in the place with a railing or a wall, but somehow he pulled it off. The place should have been built with floor to ceiling windows. Instead, the so called screened-in summer only section has a window about half way up to the ceiling and with regular height tables and chairs. An adult's line of sight hits just below the window when you are seated. A simple fix (and why should you have to figure our fixes when this was new construction) would have been bar height tables and chairs to be able to see out of the windows. There is a roof-top patio. Incredibly, he didn't have it open last year except for private parties. This year it's open with some caveats: to get up there you have to climb very steep carpeted steps, you will be brought your food in styrofoam to-go boxes with plastic forks and knives so basically, you're on your own. They put a make shift bar up there with a sign that says "Cash Only." Can you possibly do anything else to make your patrons feel more unwelcome? And again, he figured out a way to block the view on a ROOF-TOP patio by building a WALL with a railing so you can't SEE the lake when you're seated! Again...bar height table and chairs. Put in a glass 1/2 wall for your railing guard so people don't fall off of the roof. How about some outdoor seating on the grounds by the water you ask? Nope. There are plenty of boat slips to pull right up. Might be a good idea to have picnic tables w/ umbrellas and a bar out there. Just saying'. There should be a big sign facing the lake to let the boaters know you're there. Last year the owner told us the sign he did have facing the lake was destroyed in a storm. Ok.... Get a clue. The season is short and you have to maximize your opportunity. There is barely any signage on the road side of the entrance. You can drive right past the place and not see it. You may as well have built this in the middle of a corn field because this is a real waste or what could have been a fantastic destination restaurant. Were you wondering about the food? It's just average and I'm being generous. Even that can be easily overlooked if you offer the atmosphere. Things can taste better than they might actually be when you are feeling really good about your surroundings. I ate there tonight for the last time. I would have stayed and enjoyed the sunset and spent more money on after dinner drinks had I been able to see it. read more

I've been here once before for lunch. The burger was ok. Tonight we went there with my in-laws who were here all the way from the state of Oregon and my wife and daughter and parents for my birthday. I can't begin to express how disappointed we were. The staff was friendly and accommodating but several of us had the prime rib (Saturday Special). We all ordered them medium rare. Our soups and salads arrived quickly, and while one server was placing the soups and salads in front of us, another came with our dinners at the same time. On top of that all the steaks came in an odd gray color. No pink in them at all. The other people didn't say anything but I mentioned to the waitress that I did order medium rare and she apologized and took it back. Within 2 minutes a new steak was in front of me. Same color, only this one was cold! The fat on the steak wasn't even moist, it was congealed and white and it looked like a steak you take out of the fridge the day after you've cooked it. This leads me to believe these steaks (keep in mind, this was the Saturday Night Special) were pre-cooked and sliced and they are re-warmed/microwaved when ordered. This was easily the most revolting steak I have ever had in a restaurant and at $24 was a screaming deal. Correct me if I'm wrong, but usually prime rib is a roast and they slice off the steaks when ordered, definitely not the case here. They weren't in a position to control the "done-ness" of the steaks, just how long they warm them up. I never write reviews, but this was so bad it deserves mention. Food is good. Horrible service. Never enough servers. We were Asked to bring in our own dishes and glasses from outside because they were short staffed. Also had to come in for refills on drinks as well as our check. Wish the roof is open during the day, but they have used every excuse possible to Not open it. So sad the place has serious potential. Food is very good but your also paying for the service of going out to eat. We Will Never go back after our last experience there and will no longer bring any family or friends there as well. read more

I always appreciate a great restaurant our neck of the woods in Waterford. The staff is extremely friendly and the menu has something for everyone. The fish tacos were amazing & I have gotten them the last 3 times I visited. If the weather is nice the outdoor patio is great. The restaurant area outside the bar can get pretty warm if you go on a hot day, it would be nice if it was air conditioned but with the harsh winters we have its hard to complain about the heat. If you haven't had a chance to check this place out its definitely worth it. read more

Please ignore the negative reviews. We live on the river and love to take the pontoon boat and have lunch or dinner here. It's a nice restaurant with decent food and a very pleasant atmosphere. We have never had a bad experience and have probably been there 15 times. This is a nice local restaurant that we really enjoy. Not gourmet but a reasonable priced place with good food (burger and sandwiches place). I personally love the fish tacos read more

We chose Doc's on the Fox for our wedding rehearsal lunch last weekend. They were incredibly easy to work with and accommodating! I highly recommend them! The servers were friendly and professional.
