    Lobster bisque

Ordered take-out from Doc's Deli for the first time. We ordered the Godfather sandwich, lobster bisque, and roasted red pepper soup. Lobster bisque was average with no lobster. Roast red pepper was fantastic and delicious!!! Godfather was delicious, bread was perfect, and had a little kick. The ladies inside were nice and it was clean inside. A little pricey for the size of the sandwich. But I definitely will order again!!

Wow, what a find! We were just looking for a place to eat and unfamiliar with the area and this nice lunch spot hit all the right boxes. Situated near the hospital in a remodeled old building, this cute little place offers up soups, salads and yummy sandwiches. We were a party of 5 and everyone loved the food. The sandwiches were sized reasonably and served with a bag of chips. I would have been good with just that, but we tried the soup too. Lobster bisque and potato bacon were both extremely flavorful and we all shared. Cookies were a nice addition even though we didn't need them. We talked with the owner for a bit afterwards and she shared some stories of the building and the area. This is the reason small individually owned restaurants really rock, the people really enjoy what they do. And it shows in the appearance and tastiness.

Doc's Deli is another interesting find. It's located in Mansfield away from the downtown area. The building looks like a converted house. As such, they have no parking lot, and inside can be a tight fit. They usually aren't that busy even at lunch. As there's no parking lot, you have to find it on the street or walk from the downtown area. It usually has room on the street because it's not extremely busy. The inside is small so they can't hold that many people at a time. It still has a surprisingly big menu. There's a bunch of listed sandwiches, or you can make it your own way. I had the Far Left. This is about $8 and comes with baba ghannouch, eggplant, and peppers. It was not big but it was filling. They also have various pasta salads. It might be hard finding this place as it blends into houses. It's located across from the hospital. There's a few other places to park on side streets.

Stopped by while in Mansfield on business and after reading the reviews. The red pepper/gouda soup was really good and I enjoyed my tuna salad on flatbread. Next time I'll try the veggie sandwich with the eggplant. Food was 4 stars but service made it 5 stars. Staff is great and Susan is an absolute sweetheart! I'll be back!

If you are ever in Mansfield, Ohio - please don't pass up the opportunity to visit this amazing establishment! The atmosphere at Doc's deli is simply perfect: homey and clever! They have these awesome looking space-saving tables, a free water dispenser thats totally chill, and not only are the walls painted in those soothing hospital neutral colors, but the staff is dressed in scrubs! Since the restaurant is located just across the street from the hospital- I spent a good deal of time wondering whether or not there was an actual connection between the two! (Apparently i really bought their hospital theme!!! hahahaha) The first thing you do when you get into Doc's Deli is get a Sandwich form to fill out... because the totally amazing thing about Doc's is that you can create and name your own sandwich or salad which they then permanently add to their database !!!! (watch out for my sandwich: the mean MR mustard!!) They have an EXTENSIVE choice of ingredients that includes a large list of amazing sauces and dressings in addition to all the great veggies, fruits, cheeses, breads, and meat selection. And if you're feeling less inspired, don't worry- Doc also knows all the recipes for traditional sandwiches! (Beware: although $5.79 for a custom-made sandwich sounds pretty good to me, its damn easy to go well above that price as you continue to add yummy extras to your sandwich!) They also offer a small value menu, a new breakfast menu, assorted desserts, great soup options (my favorite was the Roasted Red Pepper Gouda Bisque!), and a prepared list of recommended salads and sandwiches. They are always mixing this list up and adding to it new sandwiches that were created by their costumers - so next time you visit the deli you might just see your sandwich advertised on the wall! Although the service was a bit slow, it made up for that in the amount of care, energy and attention which were put into making my sandwich just the way I had painstakingly described on my form. Not to mention, the service was extremely friendly!!! And watch out for that ambulance siren... if you hear it while you're paying for your order at the register then you get a discount!!! woohoo! I will definitely come back here next time I'm in Ohio!

This place was found because of you fellow Yelpers. Thank you! All 5 of us loved our food. It tasted fresh. And the ladies working were nice. Seating was very limited inside so we went to the outdoor seating. Really cute outdoors. The roasted red pepper soup was to die for. Everyone agreed we should have had an extra sandwich for later.

There are relatively few dining options in Mansfield Ohio on a Sunday, thankfully Hudson and Essex is one that is available! We arrived without Reservations and seated in the dining room. We usually prefer the bar; however, as it was Sunday dinner, we wanted to be more proper. On Sundays, they do offer a dinner menu and a Sunday dinner menu. Their Sunday dinner menu is very good! We've had offerings on it before and have never been disappointed. This time we did decide to order off the regular menu. After ordering a round of cocktails to start with, we ordered a jalapeño flatbread appetizer special to start. Must say that that flatbread was extremely delicious and hot! The jalapeño slices could've been deveined and deseeded to tame the heat a little. For our main courses, I ordered their Caesar salad with blackened chicken, my wife their small filet, and mom their pierogi appetizer. Our meals came out well presented and delicious! It was the first time I've ever had their Caesar salad and I enjoyed it immensely. My wife always enjoys their steak and my mom raved about the pierogies. No formal desserts were ordered; however, I ordered a last word, which was delicious! Alec really is a great bartender and can make just about anything! All in all, another well done dinner at Mansfield's best restaurant!

But next to the coffee was the donut case, and I did not expect to get seduced so easily, but alas I fell hard. For a mere $2.49 had an amazing maple cream stick. Not too sugary sweet. The inside was filled with almost like a rich whipped cream versus a buttercream. The shell was lightly fried, not greasy. And the maple topping was smooth, not gritty, and evenly applied across the donut so I got some with every bite. I'm going to think about this donut for a long time. I also snagged a box of fritters for the rest of the crew, but I sat silently on their porch swing and ate that donut and drank my basic coffee in blissful silence. It was the perfect way to start my day. They also offer an abundance of groceries and supplies for campers since the campground is nearby. It appears there is a little restaurant that's adjacent and a walk-up window for morning donut and coffee runs that closes at 10:30am. From the looks of the space, they're a bar by night and lunch spot by day. Really cool old space with original hardwood floors, high cathedral ceilings and rustic charm. Ambiance was on point. Their menu is fairly unique. A number of custom house options that take traditional sandwiches and add stuff you wouldn't necessarily expect. I ended up getting one of their seasonal specials that is a play on a grilled cheese sandwich. It came on toasted, marbled, rye, with feta cheese, fresh, sliced jalapeños, fresh, sliced pineapple, and Swiss cheese. I always love, trying things that combine, savory, sweet, and spicy. So I was hoping for the best with this one, and it delivered. The sandwich came with hot waffle, fries, and a side of ketchup. Shout out to the two people working, as they were completely overwhelmed, but getting food out to tables regardless. I was expecting a pretty long wait time based on the orders ahead of me, but my food came out in under 10 minutes. I was impressed all things considered. My only small complaint is the pricing is just a little bit high for what you get. Especially a grilled cheese. It's just bread, pineapple, jalapeño, and cheese. I don't feel like that should cost $13. I wish the waffle fries came with it for that price. But they were an additional three dollars, as well as three dollars for a fountain drink. After taxes and tip, it was a little over $23. That's a pretty steep price to pay for what was supposed to be a simple lunch. I would definitely come here again, but not on the regular simply based on the high prices.
