GO TO...ANYWHERE ELSE! I don't even know where to begin recounting the story of just how horribly they treated me and how insulted I feel. If I could give them negative stars, I would. They discriminated against me and insulted me TWICE! I happened to be driving by one day and went in on a whim, figuring I'd conveniently knock out a quick errand. After I explained what I needed done and what days/times would work for them to come to my home, they basically told me that I couldn't afford their service because I live in Detroit. Now, although I am a resident of Detroit (and a proud one at that) I am very close to the border of Grosse Pointe. Mere feet, actually. After being insulted and turned away, I searched for another repair place for a few months but couldn't find one. I finally broke down and called to ask if they knew of anyone who is closer to the Grosse Pointe area. The woman on the phone told me that they go to Grosse Pointe all of the time and that they'd be happy to help me out (she was really nice). After I explained to her what happened the first time and that I live literally right on the border she asked for my address and zip code and put me on hold. When she came back, I was told that they "have to draw their line somewhere" and was given the name of another place that might be willing to help me. Thanks but no thanks. I don't want to work with anyone affiliated with such narrow-minded bigotry. For those of you who are scanners and not readers, I will reiterate. Do not take your business here. If they are in the position to insult people and refuse their business just because of some ridiculous, preconceived notion they may have about that person based on where they live then clearly they don't deserve it anyway. If their website stated this was their business practice there would be no issue, but the idea of having prices online that result in consumers seeing 41% to and 84% increase over the online pricing when they show up in person is deceptive pricing. So our oven blew out, and I gotta have my oven! So I called Docs appliance up, the lady was very nice on the phone, she got all the info she needed and scheduled a service guy to come by between 12pm-5pm. Well the guy got there at 12:45pm. He came in and got my oven up and running in less than 20 min. He answered all my questions even found the cost of a part for my oven and he only charged us the service fee to come out $69.95. This company has the worst customer service that I have experienced with. I told them to order the part that was needed to fix my range the same day that they came over to check it and the part wasn't order until I called a week later to check the status of my order. They kept lying to me and not providing me the right information until I requested to talk with the manager. I learned a couple weeks later that the supplier did not have the part that I needed. Please think twice before you call them. I rated 1 star because there is no option for not rating at all. They deserve no star. read more

Tried them, won't use them again. Their prices are considerably more than other repair services. I wouldn't mind so much if the quality justified the price, but it does not. They do not apply their service call to the repair. When they make more than one trip, each trip you get hit for another exorbitant fee. With their fees it would of been much cheaper to buy a new appliance at a big box store (with free delivery and installation) and sell or give away the old one on Craigslist. The fees they charged me netted out to $19 per minute. The person scheduling repairs always seemed like they did not know what they were doing. Pluses. The tech was very professional and pleasant. He finally completed the warranty work needed on my dishwasher.; it came with a dent on the front panel. Minuses: Doc's was not able to make our first appointment that was scheduled. So they called me after the time slot had elapsed and asked if they could reschedule. They gave me the first appt slot on the next day. The job couldn't be done then however because of a fault with Whirlpool. Thanks so much for ripping me off Doc's Appliance. The salesman sold me the wrong part for 35.00. I had all the correct model numbers, etc. and he told me it was the correct part. Guess what.. When i got home and tried to put the part in it was the wrong one. So of course the package was open, I was told/sold that this was the part. So when I went to try to take it back/exchange it they told us "tough luck", ÿou opened it" . Of course we did, because YOU told us it was the correct part. Diagnosed the problem with my washing machine myself, looked up the part number on the internet, told Doc's exactly what part I needed, they gave me a price of 77.04 for the part. I looked online and found where I could purchase the part for 41.95 plus 7.00 for shipping. I would rather shop local businesses rather than shop on the internet. Offered Doc's $50.00 for the part . They gave me a counter offer of 65.00, I guess they thought I was trying to negotiate. I took my money and left. Was able to find a different local businessman to sell me the part for the price I was willing to pay (It was a used part, cost me 25.00, works great). Called Doc's appliance for a Ice Maker Repair in September of 2017. The technician informed us that the ice maker was shot. So we had it replaced for $ 369.00. which we thought was VERY HIGH PRICED. It is now March of 2018 and the new ice maker has stopper working. We call Doc's and they informed us that warranty on the ice maker was 30 days. If we want to have it looked at again it will cost us $ 89.00. If the ice maker is shot again they will charge us the $ 396.00 again. Needless to say that will not work for us. Avoid this company like the plague! On January 2nd I called Jenn-Air's 800 service number to arrange to replace a defective switch on a Jenn-Aire cooktop that we purchased in March, 2010. The service rep at Jenn-Air advised that they would arrange for a technician (from Doc's) to come to our home on January 4th between 8 am and Noon for a service charge of $69.95. No mention was made of additional charges for labor, over and above the service charge. We agreed to those arrangements. The following day we received a call from Doc's to confirm the appointment (if you can call a five hour window an appointment) and was advised that the service charge would be $89.95 --- twenty dollars more than we were originally quoted. When questioned as to why the new rate the person at your company said that "maybe Jenn-Aire didn't have their new rates". That seemed strange to me, but for $20 I wasn't going to argue about it. Again, there was no mention whatsoever of any additional charge over and above the service charge. Both my wife and I re-arranged our schedules to clear time between 8am and Noon on January 4th for Doc's tech to visit. At approximately 12:45 pm we received a call from Doc's stating that the technician was "running late". Given no alternative, we had to wait for him --- after further rearranging the afternoon, not knowing when he would arrive. The technician arrived at approximately 1:20 pm. He came into our house with his toolbox. He did not tell us his name. He did not remove his dirty boots. He seemed somewhat distraught, non-conversant and simply unfriendly. I sensed that possibly something had occurred at one of his previous stops. Clearly, something was not right. I showed him the cooktop and told him the switch was not working properly and demonstrated the defective switch. It was clear that the switch was broken by the way it failed to "click" into the HIGH position when turned away from the OFF position. The technician did nothing beyond confirm what I already told him was wrong. He did not disassemble the cooktop. There was no "analysis" done, and I was right there the entire time. He told us that these switches frequently become defective, and that we could probably expect the burner to become defective soon as well. He did not have a switch with him, and indicated that he would have to order one. He also indicated that the burner itself would probably go bad soon, so he would replace that part as well, since it was covered by warranty. I thought it somewhat strange that he would replace a burner that is not defective, but I figured he knew what he was talking about, so I concurred. He then spent a lengthy amount of time on his cell phone with someone either at your company or with the manufacturer. At the end of those several calls, he informed me that the switch was not covered by the warranty but the burner is. I asked him how long it would take and he did not know. He then started writing up an order or invoice. The switch was to cost approximately $115. He then added in a charge for labor to install the switch and the burner. The labor charge was in the area of $120 --- over and above the $89.95 service visit charge. My total charge would be approximately $335.00 --- to replace a switch on a cooktop that cost nearly $800 less than three years ago. I told him I was never informed of an additional labor charge, and he called his manager, Mr. Cooper, and handed the phone to me. I explained the situation to Mr. Cooper, and his response was similar to the tech's: He essentially called me a liar when I told him no one had ever mentioned an additional labor charge. By this time, the technician was becoming visibly upset and irritable. He proceeded to pack up his computer and tools (none of which he had used) and barged out the door. My wife followed him out (before he slammed our door in her face) and asked him what will happen next. I heard him tell her "We are done!" He got into his truck and sped away. After all this transpired --- and after I cooled down --- I did look online at some posted reviews of Doc's service. Here's what I found: * Yellowpages.com: 12 reviews, 7 positive and 5 negative * Citysearch.com: 22 reviews, 11 positive and 11 negative That's a total of 34 reviews, 18 positive and 16 negative. 47% of Doc's customers gave NEGATIVE reports? Some examples of the comments associated with the negative reviews include: "Terrible", "God-awful", "rude", "didn't know what he was doing", "WOULD NOT SUGGEST THEM TO MY WORST ENEMY", "worst company I have ever dealt with", and many more. I think they are all correct! On Feb 5th I wrote Doc's a letter and asked for an apology. The only response I got was a threat of legal action! Again, avoid this company! If you do call them, you have about a 50% chance they will fix your problem. They take your money, they are rude, they don't perform, then when you complain they threaten you with a lawsuit. read more

I was very grateful for the good and speedy service this company gave my elderly relative in Michigan earlier this week. Washer was leaking in the laundry room. Hints of rusting were seen in small spots on the top and side of the washer, but were small enough that the issue seemed like a superficial defect in the paint job. Upon the service technician's review of the issue, the very prominent corrosion of a very large portion of the guts of the washer was very clear. The Technician was very knowledgable about the washer model and was able to explain the problems effectively so that my elderly relative could easily understand. They were prompt, informative, and honest. They saved her from overpaying, and also helped inform her of recommended washer brands/models to consider that had a good service records. Had a recommendation to use Doc's Appliance. I waited 3 days for appointment (OK) and asked to be first on list for the day. They said they would try. It worked, my repairman came right on time and did the job in under an hour. Yes it cost to have someone come into your home and fix your stuff. Yes labor and parts are EXTRA. Horrible experience. They charged me $80 to come out. 85$ for a five minute repair ( I timed him ) and $80 for a rubber seal. I read other reviews and everyone seemed to be charged differently. I am so disappointed that Whirlpool recommended them. I actually called Whirlpool to let them know of my poor experience. They called the day before and said they would be out between 8 - 12, the technician came out at 11:30 (no call from them, but it was in the time frame). I have used Doc's Appliance for several home appliance repairs and have never been dissapointed. They were the first company I thought of when our office needed to have an appliance repaired in our break room. They were quick to respond and had our microwave up and running again. The service was quick and professional, but I thought the price was outrageous. They soaked me $194 for replacement of a cheap thermal fuse (the service call took about 15 minutes). They could have just charged me for the service call and a fair price for the part but had to add $85 labor and charge me $28 fo a fuse I can get for $1.75. I wish I would have read these reviews before I called and was humiliated by Doc's Appliance Service. I had friends in Grosse Pointe, a couple feet away from my lovely home in East English Village, an historical neighborhood with gorgeous, SAFE, homes. I told them my problem with my refrigerator, they said they could be out today, asked my address and said " We won't service that area". I explained that my friends loved them on Saturday, and they kept saying that they refuse to service in my area. They were rude, condescending, and did their best to make me feel like dirt. Absolutely the worst customer service we have ever come across. Avoid these guys at all cost. The only reason we used them in the first place was the store we bought our washing machine from (Hawthorne's - don't ever go there either) uses them to service appliances they've sold. Now we know why. Our washing machine, which we've had for only 7 months, sprung a leak and drenched the whole laundry room. The leak was pretty obvious, heck, I could have fixed it. But no, since the machine was under warranty, we called Hawthorne (mistake #1) who in turn called Doc's (mistake #2). Took them 5 days to come out. The repairman, after walking through 6" of snow to get to our door, refused to take his shoes off and tracked water through our living room and into the laundry room. I showed him where the leak was. He called the manufacturer (Whirlpool) and then promptly told me he wouldn't have the part for 5 days and when it comes in he would call us to set up another appointment. So now we are looking at possibly a total of 3 weeks before we have our washing machine working. I complained about the timing, to which the repairman shrugged and said that's the way it is and left. I then called Whirlpool and they told me they could expedite the part and have it delivered in 2 days. Really? Wow. Talk about lazy. I strongly encourage everyone to never, ever, ever use these guys.
