The Staff at the Corolla Light store (who I think is also the owner) has always been extremely helpful with advice on what's biting and what to use. Never have I experienced the attempted upsell you get at some other shops in terms of rods, reels or whatever. I come every year in Sept when the fishing is really good, however this year I got to come in May, fishing not as great, but thanks to the advice from Corolla Bait and Tackle I still did well and had a blast. I have fished all up and down the east coast and into Canada and visited a lot of Tackle Shops and I can honestly say that I enjoy the walk down to Corolla Bait and Tackle every year. Keep up the good work.

We had Jack as our instructor and he was a great teacher showing us at the beginning on the sand how the beach and tides works with rip currents, sandbars, and dangerous lightning storms. If you are in the slightest way considering taking a lesson book one. The surf shop also has a great selection of hats, shirts, swimsuits, and surf gear. The selection is great for both men and women and the prices are very reasonable. We purchased some merchandise and had a great time in our surfing lessons. Highly recommend the shop and the lessons!!! P.S. the owner's Jack and Phill are great guys and are very knowledgeable

I very rarely give a five star rating, but I liked the beer selection, bartenders were friendly, and we got to sample a couple of beers before landing on our favorites. We liked the beer so much we even took a growler home ($18). We liked the saison best, but the porter was also nice. Pumpkin beer was not my favorite, but it never is... Only down side was that there were no prices posted or on the menu (one of my pet peeves). But dogs are also welcome inside, which puts them back in the 5 star territory (and they have a bathroom unlike the Ten O Six restaurant at the other end of the strip owned by the same people).

BLUF: Great market, fresh seafood and friendly employees…read more Billy's Seafood located on Colington Island is a terrific place for a few groceries and fresh seafood. In addition to having grocery staples they have an impressive collection of condiments for seafood as well as common ingredients for preparing seafood. I was most impressed by the stacks of hush puppy mix from various brands. It was a fabulous sight. We get steamed crabs from Billy's annually. As a Maryland commercial crabber my father is quite picky (no pun intended) about his crabs and he trusts Billy's Seafood. On my recent visit to the store another customer was picking up steamed shrimp which smelled so good. This market is charming and the employees are delightful.

The historical markers scattered throughout the park provide thoughtful glimpses into Elizabeth City's maritime past, making it more than just a scenic stop--it's a place where local heritage is quietly honored. Whether you're stretching your legs after a drive or simply soaking in the view, the park feels like a small but meaningful portal into the region's relationship with the water.
