We saw a house that we really liked and our friend Christina recommended Nancy to us, she handled everything for us efficiently and patiently and seemed to work all hours of the night to get everything handled. We ended up closing in a month, and with the new laws on documentation that is needed to get through the loan approval process...that is quite impressive. She is also on top of her game, she was reviewing all of the closing documents and paperwork and catching mistakes left and right from the lending company. Nancy Taute is amazing at what she does! My wife and I were first time home buyers (although I've had experience with realtors from working under a mortgage broker when I was in college) and we ended up visiting Carol Dochen's office because of the reviews here on Yelp. Nancy was assigned as our realtor, and I can't say enough good things about her. I'll just make a quick list: 1. She set us up to receive houses as they came on the market, immediately and electronically via email. The whole process of looking for houses was so easy! 2. She was helpful regarding financing, although she didn't push us to a specific lender or broker. She was solution oriented the whole way! We ended up doing something similar to "owner financing" in the end. 3. She drove us around and planned our drives efficiently and based on our preferences. She was very flexible. 4. She got us coffee (and the good stuff from starbucks). 5. She pulled up all the history and pricing etc etc etc whenever we were getting more serious about a house offer. 6. Her attitude stayed perfect, even when we backed out of a house and ended up going for a house that would have been half the commission for her. She never even talked about commission. (even though she deserves every penny, really skilled at what she does!) 7. She helped us through the bidding process. We were terrified because we had found the perfect house and a bid war started. We were the first to see the house, and yet we got into a bid war. Nancy guided us through the whole process, and the seller's actually mentioned that part of the reason they went with our offer was "our realtor was so nice and professional". 8. She helped us through inspections. We had a fear of paying for inspections and losing money, but Nancy had good solutions for this. (Just go visit her!) 9. She is one of the most organized people I've met. From cradle to grave, she was organized. She even packaged up everything for us regarding the house at closing. We are truly organized regarding our new house because of Nancy. She even did some real nice things for us at the end. And the gift card really helped right off the bat. We got some paint! 10. She is ethical. From beginning to end, she changed my original view of realtors. I have a lot of respect for this women. And my wife and I are truly blessed to have had her guide us through the most important purchase of our lives to date. Stuart Slicis is a great guy and helped us navigate a difficult situation with our homebuilder. I'd recommend using him for a basic (non-construction) transaction. However, I'd be careful about interaction with Carol Dochen. Due to the difficulty and complexity of the situation with our builder (lies, misinformation, negligence), Stuart rightfully escalated the issue to Carol. I found Carol to be disinterested in standing up for her customer and driving resolution with the builder. In general, she seemed more interested in maintaining harmony in the builder / real estate agent ecosystem than working for her customer. This not only left Stuart (her employee) in a difficult spot, but also made our situation more difficult than it needed to be. Our builder promised me a concession to compensate for delays and negligence but went back on his word. Carol showed absolutely no interest in holding him accountable and ensuring he followed through. Additionally, she promised me she'd personally ensure the builder completed all items identified on our inspection report. Given this commitment, I found it disappointing that Carol not only didn't ensure this happened, she didn't even bother showing up when we reviewed the report with the builder. Contrary to Carol's word, many items on the report went unaddressed. In summary, definitely use Stuart for a basic transaction, but be careful about interaction with Carol and hope that your situation won't require escalation, because she won't have your back. read more

When my husband finally persuaded me to start looking for a house closer into town so that our commutes to work weren't so long, I told him that we had to contact Carol. Carol helped me find the perfect house over 20 years ago, and I remembered her warm, personal service and how helpful she had been. Twenty years later, Carol helped us find the perfect house in less than two weeks (I had thought it would take months). The house had great potential, but it needed a major remodel to update the mid-1980s decor. Carol put us in touch with a contractor who was a dream to work with, and with an interior designer who was able to see the house and what it *could* look like and who was able to help us turn the house into our dream home. Along the way, Carol also steered us to excellent home inspectors, plumbers and other professionals we needed to work with. Of course we wouldn't work with anyone but Carol in the sale of the house in which we had lived for 11 years, and Carol had excellent and detailed advice on what we needed to do to get the house ready to list. (She was also a pretty good therapist when I called her more than once in tears from the stress from the huge remodeling job we were involved with on our new home, and the stress of having a painter in our current home daily for almost two weeks to paint and remove wallpaper.) Because of Carol's detailed advice on what we needed to do to make our home as attractive as possible to potential buyers, and some hard work on our part, we listed our house for sale and had a full price offer the next morning. Yes, really. Needless to say, we were thrilled. When we worked with Carol, we didn't feel that we were just working with our realtor. We were working with a friend who truly cared about us and cared about finding the perfect home for us. Carol goes WAY above and beyond the normal duties of a realtor. The truth is that Carol was not "our" realtor. She sold us the house that we bought in N.W. Hills. But we now feel like she is "our realtor." It turns out that she sold this house years ago to the people we bought it from, and then when they listed it, they listed it with her. Carol knows houses, and she cares about the ones that she sells. Months after we moved in, we wanted to know who had installed the roof on our house, and she assisted us. We were worried that we had sustained hail damage -- we hadn't, but we wanted the previous roofer to check it out. A month ago, we had a repair we needed to do on our ceiling because a beam had fallen due to a faulty nail. Again, we called Carol. She came by on a weekend, noted that falling beams could be unsafe, called a contractor she knew, and also called her roofer to check that we hadn't had water damage that had caused the problem. Within the week, we had our ceiling repaired and improved with good nails, our roof inspected, and all at a very reasonable cost. I told my husband that I was getting spoiled and might expect all service to be so efficient! We've noticed that the houses she lists are always the most beautiful and well-cared for, and they also sell the most quickly.
