Looking to buy some souvenirs, we decided to visit this chocolate boutique…read more The girl working here greeted us right away even though she was assisting another customer. As soon as she was finished she gave all her attention to us. Talk about first class service, she took the time to show us everything in the store and to answer any questions we had. The packaging is beautiful. My son is a huge dark chocolate lover so I let him choose whatever he wanted. I dropped some serious cash here $$$. Lol. I actually have a section in my fridge where it is all dedicated to nothing but chocolates. I hope my family and friends will enjoy these delectable sweet morsels.

In addition to having single-origin chocolate from Ecuador, they've got some other bars. Since it was late and we were tired, we purchased a sampling and verified that they'd be open the next day. We tried the chocolate and decided to go back and get more to give as gifts -- the kids are also appreciators of craft chocolate. I bought a bag of candied ginger, coated in dark chocolate. It may sound weird, but it is amazing! My wife liked a bar that had orange filling. The combination of dark chocolate and orange is definitely a favorite in our house. The chocolate is not too sweet and the São Tomé bar I purchased reminds me a bit of coffee -- so a mocha flavor just from the beans, sugar and vanilla.

For me it was served at the perfect temperature: Not too cold to hold, just on the edge of melting, delivering half-melted bites of gelato all the way throughout the cup. I did notice visible ice crystals and also ice on the palate, which is an unfortunate sign of non-ideal freezing: Either it was flash frozen or it's been in the case for too long. It is unfortunate that all the flavors are sealed away in lidded containers. That's no way to browse for gelato: the color and temptation is all sealed away behind identical-looking containers. I made do by reading the menu, which is written in English and Portuguese. It was also clear as day, from the forced smile and workmanlike manner of the sole behind-the-counter staffer, that he was totally over his job. That vibe drags everything down a little.

Since they are stored in metal tubs - it's a good sign the gelato is good! The gelato was soft, but very tasty, it just melted a bit quicker. In a medium cup, I got marabunta (chocolate chip), mango, & chocolate! All 3 were great flavors! Overall would come back here!

There's a variety of options and cuisines available, plus beers, wine and cocktails for purchase. I would leave small children at home with a babysitter, as trying to maneuver through the crowds with a stroller is just too much to deal with. We liked the tacos, burgers and pad Thai. Desserts are also available.

I'd been to other Time Out Markets, in the US, and found them places which I had little desire to return to. Not this one, to which I returned at least 3 other times. It wasn't just the easy appeal of an amply-poured glass of great wine at an equally great price, but the whole vibe of the place, featuring the best of Portugal's best. Literally, everything looked appealing here; choosing what to eat to accompany that wine? That was my sole dilemma. One side of this place has eateries that feature really well-priced nightly specials, often selling out, which gives you an idea of their popularity. I frequently found myself in another stretch of the place, opting for a wonderfully fresh sushi platter that ran about $30US. If you do nothing more than come for food and drink you'll likely not notice that there's a really wonderful, artsy shop (A Vida Portuguesa) that features unique and beautiful gifts for yourself or others. Also, a bookstore upstairs and, during the daytime, a huge farmer's market/green-grocery in another space attached to the main hall, but easily overlooked. I highly recommend this Time Out Market, even suggesting you plan your stay to be in close proximity. That's how much I liked it.
