The gelato is pretty solid. My coffee and chocolate combination delivered on the sweetness and had overall decent flavor, though neither flavor was particularly intense. For me it was served at the perfect temperature: Not too cold to hold, just on the edge of melting, delivering half-melted bites of gelato all the way throughout the cup. I did notice visible ice crystals and also ice on the palate, which is an unfortunate sign of non-ideal freezing: Either it was flash frozen or it's been in the case for too long. It is unfortunate that all the flavors are sealed away in lidded containers. That's no way to browse for gelato: the color and temptation is all sealed away behind identical-looking containers. I made do by reading the menu, which is written in English and Portuguese. It was also clear as day, from the forced smile and workmanlike manner of the sole behind-the-counter staffer, that he was totally over his job. That vibe drags everything down a little. read more

Loved the neon signs and 1950s theme of this gelato shop! Employee was patient and kind as we chose our flavors. Since they are stored in metal tubs - it's a good sign the gelato is good! Pretty dang good gelato! And not too expensive compared to the other places in the area. Came here at the recommendation of a local and it did not disappoint! I got the small come with 2 flavors and boy was it hard to pick from the list of 15 flavors. One of the staff members recommended the strawberry noting that it's the most popular by far. And I have to say this place does fruity flavors very well. My other scoop was of course my favorite: hazelnut. Both flavors where mind blowing and super smooth. This dessert parlour serves a delicious array of original ice cream flavours, from the Portuguese flavours of Cascais and Marabunta (= chocolate shavings not swarm of ants!) to the more age-old yet delicious flavours of mango and passionfruit. If you're wondering if their so-called "best chocolate cake" is indeed worthy of such praise, I would have to report that whilst it is definitely a quality cake, rich and dense with chocolate and worth a try if you're a chocolate lover, I would still not call it the best of the best.  On the other hand, their passionfruit ice cream cake was a stunningly pleasant surprise. The story of Santini is an Italian immigrant who opened a gelato shop in Lisbon. We came to the Time Out Market outpost, which wasn't too crowded in the afternoon. A small cup is €3.50 - 2 flavors. They have the legit looking tin covered gelato containers. You can sample, too. We went with torrone (nice toasty, nutty flavor) and passionfruit (intense, not too sweet). The texture was good on both. Santini was solid for gelato on a warm day. read more

Came here in Time out.... great place to have a type of "food court" but in a "gourmet" way.... there are places one after the other of different types of food... grilled fish, seafood, tapas, cheese... well anything and nothing.... great place! After my meal, wanted a gelato and this place had a nice review.... so decided to try their hazelnut gelato... well quite good!!! Focus on the chocolate cake! Yes, they have ice cream but they also have the best chocolate cake in the world! I think that's the proprietory name for the cake. It's not your Black Forest type....for me this is better! Two layers of chocolate merengue slabs sandwiching a cake batter mixed with choco pudding...(like the center fudgyness of fudgy the whale at carvel) I had a slice for 2 euros (honestly when jrs. Charge $8 a slice of cheesecake it immediately made me get a second slice after finishing my first) it's two euros!!!!! I went to this place at the TimeOut Market and I can't say I agree with high rating. Perhaps I just picked the wrong flavours. The service was good; spoke English which I'm grateful for and accepted by bank card as payment. I paid 3.90 euro for quite a small cup of three flavours and I chose Coconut (always go for coconut) Green Apple (never had that before) and white chocolate with raspberry. I kinda knew that there was no chance that the green apple flavour would taste natural, but I'm fine with that, in fact I was hoping for an artifical flavour because I love that kind of flavoured candy, but I don't know.. It wasn't good. I think I tasted some tea-like kind of flavour in there and it was just.. No. Usually I only go as low as 3 out of 5, because you know, ice cream, even when it's bad it's good, but the green apple is a 2 out of 5. The coconut was ok, with lots of coconut sprinkles left in my mouth after the ice cream had melted away, just the way I like it, except that the ice cream melted away kind of quickly and when it did it felt very watery. 3.5 out of 5. The white chocolate with raspberry was quite ok, I think. I was trying to remember what to write about the first two flavours that I kind of forgot how the chocberry flavour was, but it was definitely the best of the three so it is most likely a 4 out of 5. read more

I'm pretty sure that everyone already knows that this is the best gelato in the country but it deserves repeating. The only gelato that beats this is in Italy itself and even that is up to personal preference. You should have the fruit flavors they are by far the best!
