Fernando and his wife are cooking some amazing empanadas. They are so fresh and one of the best empanadas I've ever had. TLDR; it's good, go now This is a place that's easy to pass. I used a GPS and passed it myself. It's a mistake to not come here. The empanadas are made quickly and they're fresh. The workers are kind and give you the vibe like you've been there every day which is comforting. There is a temptation to gatekeep this treasure but it's too good to hide. The Hawaiian is the best one imo but there's something for everyone. The sauces are great too. Doce Empanada is another place that I've had bookmarked for the longest time. I happen to be in the neighborhood and finally got a chance to drop in. Now that I know what I've been missing, I will drop in more often! Doce Empanada offers a variety of 12 different empanadas, handmade churros, and other sweets & beverages. (See my photo for current menu - prices have increased slightly, but not too bad). I was impressed with the spacious interior. Open & airy, clean & inviting. They even have boardgames on the tables. A game night with empanadas and cool music!?!? I ordered a variety of empanadas for takeout, and really appreciated that each empanada came in their own labeled wax paper envelope; keeping the empanadas crispy and easy to identify. These envelopes were then placed in a nice protection box. Quality ingredients with quality packaging! Here are the four empanadas I tried: Chicken, Beef, Spinach & Ricotta, and Sausage & Peppers. Honestly, I loved them all. They all had distinctive, tasty flavors. I actually would have preferred more bold flavors, but that's just my personal preference. The empanadas were on the small side but were fully stuffed with filling. Not bad at $2.65 each! Sauce: the sign states that you get your choice of 1 sauce per 3 empanadas but I actually got 1 sauce per 2 empanadas. (Yay!) Each additional sauce will be an extra 50¢ each. I automatically chose the green sauce without actually looking at the other option. I was surprised that their green sauce wasn't the usual mayo based sauce, but an herb & oil based sauce. It was delicious and reminded me of Chimichurri sauce! Yummm The other sauce was a pinkish mayo based sauce. Next time, I'll try that one also! But the empanadas were delicious with no sauce also! After following this spot in instagram I finally got around to giving it a try today and let me just tell you they don't disappoint. These empanadas are amazing for various reasons. Let's start with what we tried. Overall pros: fresh, not too greasy, dough cooked to perfection! Side sauces are good! The chicken: delicious white meat chicken with peppers and the perfect amount of seasoning. Buffalo chicken: love, love this one, again the balance of buffalo sauce gave it the perfect kick! The Hawaiian: generally I'm not a fan as some places make them way too sweet and overpowered with pineapples, not here, perfect balance! Ham and cheese: really good (the cheese they use is really good) The cheese: was such a pleasant surprise, it had a little spice inside and scallions, not bland and boring at all! A must try! Churros: fresh, crispy, delicious and not too sweet! The one thing about empanadas is that you can easily eat $20 worth and still not be full. Lol, these go for about $2.50 each and they are def on the smaller side but the flavors make up for it. Be mindful of their small size when ordering so you don't end up hungry at the end. The girl who took the order was super friendly and even came out to find us because we couldn't find the lot behind the shop. We will surely be coming back for more! My husband and I had an awesome experience at Doce! Owners Erika and Fernando were so welcoming and made our first time here very memorable! The food was all delicious and the coffee gave me the caffeine jolt I needed. We tried: -the choripan (Argentinian sausage with chimichurri on a soft baguette) -beef empanada -shrimp empanada -bbq pork empanada -Taste of Heaven pastry (dulce de leche) Everything had so much incredible flavor and was prepared fresh to order. The chimichurri and pink sauces on the side added just the burst flavor needed to compliment the empanadas. The coffee was excellent, as well. We enjoyed everything so much we got 6 empanadas to go (they even give you directions on how to warm them up at home). What can I say but Excellent! These empanadas are one of the best I ever had. They are made fresh & definitely tasty. Everyone is so nice here, little shop located in the middle of a main road. All they do is "EMPANADAS" 1. I have tried there "Beef" which is my favs (Has eggs inside). 2. The "Chicken" was moist & not dry. 3. The "Buffalo chicken" taste just like "Red Hot" hot sauce. 4.My second fav is definitely the "Hawaiian" it was official a must try!!! 5.The "Shrimp" empanadas are little mini shrimps taste just like "Baccala" 6. Tasty empanadas! We tried five different ones for our first time here: chicken, beef, spinach, vegetables, and ham/cheese. My hubby and I both enjoyed the delicious consistency of the empanada itself. It was prepared perfectly, in his opinion. I enjoyed the veggie more than I anticipated, which is great, right? What I liked about Doce 12 I really liked. But there were things I did not like. I went with a beef empanada, a shrimp empanada, and a pepperoni and cheese empanada. Be aware, when the menu says peppers it means a lot of peppers (think Italian peppers and onions). That led me to not enjoying the shrimp empanada. I can't say it was bad, but not to my taste. That's also why I didn't order the sausage and peppers empanada. The pepperoni and cheese empanada was excellent. So was the beef empanada. The green sauce was great with the beef empanada! Doce 12 was good. I would not make a special trip to come here, but I wouldn't hesitate to come back if I was nearby. read more

I had a great experience right from the moment I walked in. The workers (possibly the owners?) were super sweet. I had no issues ordering and I went 45 minutes before closing. I ordered 2 chicken, 2 beef, and 1 spinach and ricotta. They came out in less than 10 minutes and they even brought the order to me in my car waiting out front! They also labeled each order, which may seem simple, but it's definitely something I really appreciate and find sweet. =) The empanadas themselves were also really good. The empanadas are fried, but they aren't very greasy. They're not very big, but you're not going to go broke getting full off of these ($2.50 per empanada). They also came with two complimentary sauces. One tasted like a ketchup/mayo mixture and the other tasted like an oil/vinegar/garlic with some sort of leafy green. The owner/manager said it'll take him over an hour to make some and by the time he's done he will be closed. Also said they are very busy but no one was even in the store or phones not ringing. Looks to me like he was just LAZY and wanted to go home. Didn't even ask me how many I wanted or which type. Just lock your doors before you have patrons walking in. My husband and I both work from home, so we thought we'd pick up some empanadas for a little weekday treat. Wow, we were blown away by how good this place is. We ended up choosing three empanadas each (which is a nice size for a filling-but-not-enormous lunch): I had buffalo chicken, beef and Hawaiian, and my husband had pepperoni, sausage and cheese. You could tell they were just made within minutes. So fresh! It's hard to choose a favorite, but I might say the buffalo chicken was the winner for me, and my husband's fave was the pepperoni. You get two sauces with your order. One is a green sauce that's almost like chimichurri (not creamy like you might be expecting) and the other is a tangy pink sauce. The sauces were both very tasty, but your enjoyment of the sauces will depend on what you order-- for example, I wasn't going to use green sauce on my buffalo chicken. I like supporting small businesses because they focus a lot on quality and uniqueness. Doce Empanadas does not disappoint. This was my second time ordering from this place. I fell in love with the Hawaiian empanadas the first time. It was semi-sweet with a nice hint of pineapple. I ordered it again with BBQ pork the second time and I have to say these two are my favorites so far. Don't forget to get a side of chimichurri, it goes nicely with the empanadas.
