It's overwhelming. The brûlée is a nice sweet crunchy crust. I liked the tres leches more. That soaked donut added a bit more softness to the dough and the merengue on top was great. Good donuts but nothing that would make me visit again. I've seen some reviews with complaints that the consistency was heavy but I can honestly look past that, considering donuts can be cake or yeast. To be honest, I wouldn't say Doce is either and is a combination of the two somehow. It's understandable that it's not a super light consistency, as the toppings are relatively heavy and would probably squish the donut. We ordered the tres leches, passion fruit creme brulee, and maple bacon donuts. The donuts are on the bigger side, which is probably why they're nearly $6 for some flavors. My favorite probably was the tres leches, although I'm not sure if it's noticeably a tres leches flavor. It was soaked a bit with the different milks but was topped with meringue and its bottom dipped in chocolate. Fantastic donuts, but definitely at a price premium. These are pretty hefty, and what distinguishes them from donut places: usually a solid ganache at the bottom, pretty rich toppings and fillings, and a delicious donut base dough. If you like donuts with lots of flair, check it out. I've tried a couple, including the tres leches donut, matcha, and creme brulee. It all comes down to preference, but the tres leches and matcha were my favorites. The matcha had a delicious and not overly sweet whipped topping and white chocolate solid at the base. The inside had a delightfully light matcha filling. The tres leches was milky and had a torched marshmallow-like topping. The breading soaked with milk was probably my favorite part. Almost redundantly, I got the plain yeast donut. At that point, I probably could have gone without it. So I definitely recommend going for the filled or fancy donuts instead. The service was really friendly too. But not a place I'd go to frequently, since these are certainly higher end/occasion donuts at larger price point than your standard place. read more

The doughnuts were expertly designed. The Tres Leches doughnut had a hardened chocolate bottom allowing the soft tres leches cake to shine while being handheld and fairly easy to eat. This was our first stop straight from the airport! And it definitely gave us a sugar rush for the start of our day. The person behind the counter that took our order was so sweet and welcoming! We got the Creme brûlée with passion fruit, tres leches and we even got to try the guava one. Tres leches was by far our favorite! The Creme brûlée the filling was delicious. We did find the sugar coating to be a little hard to eat though. The guava was really delicious. With all the hype of this place, I had pretty high expectations, but unfortunately for me, it was a let down... Came 15 minutes before they open and there was a long line already. After 45 minutes, we finally got the goods. They are new so still working out the kinks. Donut wise, we got 5 and only 3 were some what worthy of the wait and price: -strawberry and hibiscus: did not get any of the flavors, like if I were to close my eyes, I would have thought this was just a regular OG donut - Mexican hot chocolate donut: the Chocolate is a little different from normal chocolate but not much, and didn't get any spice that you usually would get for from Mexican hot chocolate and this was one of the expensive ones and it was sooo simple. -Passionfruit creme brulee: the crunchy sugar outside was nice, inside was a tart filling, but it's not a smooth custard that you would get from a regular creme brulee -tres leches: I'm not sure this counts as a donut lol, there was 3 distinct layer of stuff and not much dough. It was really good though, just not sure if it counts haha. One of my favorite in terms of pastry though -guava con queso: one of the more unique donut, love the filling and balance of this one, maybe wish there was more cheese flavor as guava was definitely the dominant flavor. The texture of these donut wasn't as fluffy or soft as I want it to be, it was pretty standard. Out of the 5 that I got, 4 of them was 6.50 and one was $5.50, so definitely on the pricier end. I was so excited to try this new donut shop because the flavors sounded so interesting and did not seem to contain any nuts. The latter is true, so it's safe for my kid with the nut allergies, but that's about all I can say for this place. Their donuts are very expensive at over $6 each which is double the price of other donut shops. I'm not price-sensitive and am happy to pay top dollar for great food, but the taste just doesn't warrant the price. We got the tres leches which was nice but nothing special. The Mexican hot chocolate was neither spicy nor cinnamon-y, so I'm not sure what makes it "Mexican." The passion fruit crème brûlée had a great crispy sugar coating but that plus the filling made it very sweet. Sweetest of all was the guava con queso which made my teeth ache. And this is coming from someone with a serious sweet tooth. Unfortunately neither the passion fruit or guava fillings tasted much like either fruit. We really wanted to like this place but doubt we will be back. The prices plus the hour long line just isn't worth it. We're going back to our old favorite, Top Pot, which has more variety, better yeast-raised donuts, less exorbitant prices, easier access, and is also nut-free. read more

I went to Doce during their soft opening, so the variety was limited and I believe they must be figuring things out. I'm only going to review the donuts as of now. I got one of each that they had available: matcha sugar, glazed, guava queso, and creme brulee. I thought the creme brulee was fun but found the cream inside a bit lacking in flavor. It wasn't egg-y enough, as you would expect from creme brulee (and that I've had from other donut shops). The matcha sugar and glazed were both very classic. I felt the glaze was more sweet than it was flavorful if that makes sense. I couldn't really taste the donut dough, just the glaze. The quava queso was fun, kind of a fruit and cream cheese kind of thing. It wasn't for me, but I can see how others might find it super special. Overall, the donus are high quality. They fill a super big donut void in the area. However, I didn't find the flavors to be where I expected. I definitely need to try a larger assortment. Hopefully I can bump up my assessment soon. read more

The fact that they have two locations, one in Wallingford and the other in SLU is a testament to Seattle's need for these donuts. It's really hard to go wrong with selecting the perfect donut, but there is definitely something for everybody! Usually, I like getting a plain glazed as a "control" test if their dough is good. Make sure you come stand in line before they open if you want your pick of flavors. I'd highly recommend the tres leches & guava con queso. The Mexican hot chocolate is more on the bitter side, and I didn't enjoy that one as much. Overall the donuts are quite good, but it's also a little bit on the pricey side at around $6/donut.
