went here with a group of people. there biggest table besides the huge bench was for 4 so we had to squeeze a little bit. i think it made it better, though, because it was more intimate. i loved the selection of wine and really liked the decor and how dim-lit it was. It would be good for dates but because the crowd is pretty lively, its not awkward to go with a friend, relative, etc. the wine is a little bit expensive, but i think well worth it. we had a bottle of the Carignano Assaje. possibly one of my new favorites. the menu is limited and most of the food is table-share style (meats & cheeses) but there are some entrees as well. i was the perfect level of full-ness afterwards! read more

Wow. Really amazing! Even the date I brought here who had lived in Italy said the food was really authentic and wine choices are bar-none as far as being Italian. I can't bump them down a star for their high prices, after all the ingredients are imports and hard-to-find outside of Italy, but for the inconvenience of not accepting Visa/Mastercard, I will. I have been to Doc Wine about four times and always left happy and satisfied. The restaurant has a nice ambiance, cute to have a dinner date or come with a group of friends. I'm from Sardinia and indeed the food is authentic. Since we were a large group we were seated in the back room, we started sharing the selection of Italian cheeses and the cured meats.... pair it with a great full body wine and you will have the most amazing experience!! I love their pistacchio pesto toasted bread, simply delicious. First course I love the Pasta mallorreddus, made with tomato sauce and pork sausage ragout and the Fregola, a typical Sardinian pasta (similar to couscous) with pistachio pesto and mascarpone. For dessert they have an amazing tiramisu, but if you want to explore something new try the Seadas, one of the most famous Sardinian desserts. It's a pastry filled with sheep cheese, fried and topped with honey. I live in Manhattan and have eaten in so many overpriced restaurants with no authentic italian food. This place is an authentic BKNY treasure. I've eaten here three times in the past few years, including last night. Each time has been consistently good. The decor makes you feel like you're at some enoteca in Sardegna (Sardinia) in Italy and the wine and food are delicious. Last night I had two specials - the potato fennel soup and the mushroom and goat cheese lasagna- both out of this world! We started with the Sardinian flat bread - yum. I opted not to get dessert, but we chose the Cannonau wine based on the waitress' suggestion- a big hit. It's a great place for both family and friends, and I can't wait to go back. read more

The place was nice, food was good, the candlelit ambiance was cute but the service was mediocre. I asked for a glass for my beer, never got it. I asked for extra napkins, never got them. Waited at lest 20 + mins to have our order taken. They really need to pay attn. to the details. The menu's also looked like a 5 y/o wrote them and colored on them. On a dark and stormy night in NYC, I met up with a friend at this sweet little paragon of a city meeting place. Walking in, it felt like I was back in Italy yet with better service and a slight modern feel in a rustic environment. The wine selection is just magnificent. We ordered a bottle of red and a cheese sampler. The lighting is dim and cozy which lends to an intimate feel for a place that really seats quite a few people. Had a good night - but no. The pasta I and another person at the table was not cooked. Seriously I like my pasta al dente but this was boxed pasta under-boiled. first impressions say a lot, and my first impressions caused me to leave just minutes after being seated. the host was rude when seating us... it was a slow tuesday night, and there were two of us, yet he refused to seat us at the one nice table-for-four outside, instead forcing us to sit inside in the humid, dark, crowded (as in tables too close together, not too many people) dining room. it wasn't so much that he didn't want to give up his table-for-four to the two of us, it was the unapologetic way he said it. i mean, i drink enough for 3 people anyway, so what's the problem, bub? the ambiance inside was lacking, but even the ambiance outside is kinda bad... you either sit in a dark side corridor with air conditioners spitting down on you, or you sit in a cramped streetside corridor where you are really too close for comfort to your neighbors. i need privacy when sipping wine and telling my stories. a bit pricey, a bit snobby, a bit pedestrian. there are plenty of better choices in wburg for wine and a good time. read more

Loved this place! I went out with two other girl friends and it was perfect. They have a long list of wines by the bottle, a respectable list of wines by the glass, and amazing food. The specials were great! I recommend the cheese plate to share, the bread it comes with is also amazing, paper thin flat bread with rosemary. Cozy atmosphere with attentive, knowledgeable waiters. Only knock, it's not a ton of food for your plate, and they're not too cheep. A great place to eat, but not if you're starving and looking to save money. read more
