Selecting an electrician for a large project such as this who I have never worked with caused some anxiety. After getting several bids, I felt Joe and his team at Northstar had the best combination of experience, service, and price so I took a chance. The work included: Upgrade electrical panel from 100 to 200A, relocate the panel from the maid floor to basement, and move the exterior meter on the home to better accommodate the new electrical mast. Rewire the whole house Wire basement with new construction/open framing Install custom light fixtures and add outlets Prep wiring and electrical for upstairs addition Northstar was amazing every step of the way, following through on all commitments, keeping us informed, and doing quality work. Most impressively to me, the completed the full house re-wire without needing to cut a SINGLE hole in my lathe and plaster walls to complete the job. Although cuts may have made the job easier, they took the time and care to find a path that avoided need for repairs to the walls. Truly, they managed to rewire some locations I did not think would be humanly possible without cutting in for access. This team is a well-oiled machine and we made the right choice with Northstar.

They were recommended from another electrician who was booked out for 6-months. The big install was the installation of a Generac stand-by generator last October 2021. When Costco and other vendors couldn't find a stand-by generator for at least 3-4 months, Grotberg Electric was able to locate one and installed it in one day. The install was first rate and the customer service was 5-STAR. Over the past two days, we had power outages due to high winds. In both cases, the stand-by generator kicked-on as soon as the outage occurred and cut-off as soon as power was restored. The generator turned-off literally seconds before my text alert from Avista arrived to notify me that power was restored. I recommend Mike and his team at Grotberg without hesitation, and I give them my highest rating.

I was assured that this unit would IMPRESS but all it has done is disappoint. It does not heat or cool this VERY small space. Epic was called and came out twice only to tell me that it was working properly. We are faced with using space heaters, fans and a portable AC to find any relief from the cold and heat in the winter and summer, respectively. I just find it disappointing that more locally owned businesses don't stand behind their work or their product. Are we a society that focuses on greed and not quality? Nearly a month passed while the errant part wended its way towards Epic. The friend's referral didn't come in for a week, but seemed more like what I was expecting, but Ramon from Cual showed up ready to actually win the job . He walked around with me to review the scope of the project and impressed me by his questions and active responses. (At first glance he looks young and informal, but don't be fooled by that or the bright colored van). When I got his estimate, I was pleasantly surprised, especially considering the first crazy one I had received elsewhere. We decided to give him a shot and are glad we did. Everything turned out great. The drywall cuts were carefully made. Climbing around in the attic caused no ceiling problems. He was able to fish lines exactly how he planned. No follow-up email, text, or phone call at all - even when we asked and title things as 'final opportunity'. We made at least 5, spaced-out, and patient attempts. This delayed our desire project by at least 6 weeks, as we then had to call out a difference electrician to start the entire process over.

The units were in decent shape, but the flush of the water heater proved the necessity of annual maintenance for enhancing the reliability of the critical systems.
